If Bass makes the kick, you're giving Mahomes the balls with 1:45 seconds and pretending that you're going to stop him when you've done so once all game. We lost on 3rd down, not 4th.

We lost when the D couldn't stop the Chiefs and the O not only had to score but was asked to take 15 plays and 8 minutes to do it.  What McD asked the O to do to protect his D was football malpractice.  Only the otherworldly play of Allen put us in a position where it almost worked.

To watch the Bills D line, a relatively healthy unit that has seen the biggest draft and FA investments over the last 5 years fail to even slow the Chiefs down was an indictment of everything Bean & McD have worked against.  Almost no pressure on Mahomes as the D line was manhandled by the Chiefs O line. And the O gave the D long drives that allowed them to rest and get coached up.

Sorry, but if people want to look elsewhere for where the real problems are have at it.  Just don't expect the disappointment to end any time soon.

  2. McD deserves credit for turning the Bills franchise around. He deserves credit for rallying the team at 6 - 6 winning 6 in a row, the Division title, and the first playoff game.  But the Bills will NEVER win a Super Bowl with him as head coach.  The division round is it.

McD is Marvin Lewis with a much better QB then Lewis had.

I get those that don't want to move on from McD.  Down here in Cincinnati I was in the camp of keeping Lewis because he took the worst franchise in football and made them a regular playoff team.  So I've been there and done that.  I was wrong about Lewis back then and those people who want to keep McD now are wrong about that.

I know if they keep McD and continue to focus on the D in the draft and free agency then the last 3 seasons will be our fate as Bills fans gong forward. And that sucks.

From a human perspective, this is this guys 5th concussion of his career and he can play in 6 days? Nobody in the NFL gives a shirt about player health or safety, and the independent neuro’s must be on  the take.

I disagree.  The Bills organization has repeatedly demonstrated that they are conservative when it comes to player safety.  I have never felt like they rushed anyone back to soon.

So yeah they played for 3 with all 3 TOs... Not a fan of that clock management at all, not with this squad of superstars.

Agreed.  Shannahan can build a roster and he can structure an offense but his game management skills leave a lot to be desired. Why not dump that last pass off to CMC to get 10 yards and ensure the FG?

    KC will not be overwhelmed.

They have been in plenty of hostile environments before. It hasn’t been in the playoffs, but they’ve won two SB’s and have been to another.

The Rich Stadium environment will help the Bills more than it will overwhelm KC.

This is a great point.  Mahomes will do fine with the noise though his O line will struggle a bit.The real advantage for the Bills will be that their Pass Pro will find the Chiefs blitz packages a lot easier to handle in a quiet stadium.  And our front 7 will find their jobs easier with the Chiefs worrying about hearing their pass pro calls.

His QB rating in the Houston game and Bengals game was under 70. The offense did nothing in the AFC championship vs KC and his rating was under 80. He did not help Buffalo in those losses. If we want to say he wasn't the reason that's fine. The whole team sucked in all of these games including him and the offense. Outside of these games he has been really good in the playoffs.

You ignore Allen's 80+ rushing yards in the KC championship game.  Even worse you ignore the D's play whch allowed the Chiefs to go up and down the field on long TD plays all game long.

As far as the Bengal's game goes that was on the D to win and they fell flat on their face.  The Cincy game was like the Ravens playoff game in that the weather favored a low scoring, defensive slug fest.  The problem was the D didn't show up allowing the Bengal's to go on 2 long TD drives the first two times they had the ball.  That put the Bills in a 14 - 0 hole they were never able to climb out of.  BTW, Allen's ONE TO didn't come until late in the 4th quarter when the game was already over.

And are you high to be throwing out the Houston playoff game from 2019? Allen was still improving and the O had very little talent.  Again it was the D which had the lions share of the Bills best players that blew a 16 - 0 lead half way through the 3rd quarter.

Why do negative people like you bother to post on a thread like this where the originator is trying to talk up our QB and team on the eve of a huge playoff game?

    Those are good individual stats.

Well generally speaking if your QB is going to get you to a Super Bowl he better be able to produce "good individual stats" in December & January.  Of course that alone won't guarantee a SB berth but it's a very good start.

asking if we can win with allen throwing an int. it's not in the question or anything...

Well then that makes this an even worse question then it was before.  It is a creative way to throw shade at Allen though.

So we all expect at least 1 INT. I think most people believe the Bills can win with at least 2 INT's. But, let's see how we feel.

Are you asking if we can win with Allen throwing one or at most two INT's? Or are you asking if we can win if we intercept Mahomes 1 or 2 times?

Because you know Allen doesn't throw a lot of INT's in the playoffs:  He has 20 TD passes and only 5 INT's over 9 playoff games.

Fun stats. But he’s got one AFC championship game appearance on his resume. As you say, he needs to win not just compile more rushing TDs.

I think the data provides overwhelming evidence that Buffalo's failures to advance to a Super Bowl are not because of Allen's play but point to other factors beyond his control.

You know what sucks about these threads, this has been going on for over a decade. Now, all the sudden, we have threads on how illegal an illegal hit is on a sliding QB and that fake slide nonsense.

Bingo!  Some posters can't B word about Allen and McD after this game so they find new ways to throw shade on the Bills.

You commonly have a lot of good things to say, but I struggle with talk about "legacy"

I'm reminded of when we had a family meeting with an elder care finance expert because Grandma could no longer live alone and her house had to be sold.  He finally lost it and looked at a couple of the cousins: "You need to stop talking about inheritance, no one has died"

I was sarcastically responding to statements from a couple of posters claiming that the KC game would be key to Allen's "legacy".  I actually agree with you that no single game decides a player or a coaches legacy.  And this holds true for next weeks Divisional Game.

Legacy game for Josh right here. Now you have Mahomes at home. 0-2 against him in the playoffs. He’s gotta get it done. No excuses.

Disagree.  Let's see how healthy the D is before we start claiming this is a legacy game for Allen.  Allen and the O might play great but still lose the game if the D is missing to many starters.

IMO this is more of a legacy game for McD then Allen.

Bills are going to have to play better overall than they did today. Allen had a good game and no turnovers so I look for him to have a good game next week.
Will the Bills be able to get pressure on Mahomes?  Thats the key to winning game.

While the Chiefs have a much better QB the Steeler's have much better play makers then KC.  I was always more afraid of Pittsburgh then KC because they play a certain way that keeps the game close so they can steal it at the end.

The WC against NE was his best game.  this was a close second.   That game was at another level

The 13 second Chiefs game was Allen's 2nd best.  This one was on par with his spectacular game against Indy in 2020.  The bottom line is Allen is stacking up a lot of great playoff games.

Allen with the blatant fake slide on the long run, then later draws a 15 yard penalty on a late hit on slide where the defender didn't hit his head.....but can you blame him for going for the tackle based on the fake earlier?

The slide is a play intended to protect the QB, not to do what Allen did.  That was garbage.

Do you believe that when Allen fakes a throw past the line of scrimmage they should flag him for illegal forward pass?

I get that you're pissed that the Chiefs have to finally go on the road in an AFC playoff game but that was not a fake slide.  Not even close to one.  And to claim it was "blatant" is astonishing to me.

Can we finally get rid of this guy?

I vote him off the island.  That was an epically bad take on his part.  I've watched that tape over and over again and there wasn't even a hint of Allen faking a slide  We've seen him take this run up the gut over and over again throughout his career and he ran exactly how he runs them all - using a stutter step to freeze the tackler.  The fact is the safety bounced off Allen trying to make the tackle.

This guy was just pissed that his Chiefs actually have to win a road playoff game in the AFC.

  17. What impressed me the most tonight was that late in the game on two drives after the Steeler's threatened to make it a game Allen led the Bills to a FG and a TD.  Those 10 points won the game and some people a lot of money.  Allen was cool and collected and absolutely lethal on those two drives.

Saturday they were saying "nobody does it like Mahomes" when he escaped the pocket and ran, but....there one guy that clearly does it better and you saw him today.

Only Lamar Jackson can match Allen as a running QB.

This is a fair response.  All I am saying is that it SHOULD be a 15 yard penalty.  It's not.  You are allowed to fake slide.  It's crap.

But it wasn't a fake slide.  There is NOTHING in his juke move indicating a slide - NOTHING.  His stutter step is what gave him the alley to explode through for the TD. As a Chiefs fan who must have seen Mahomes prancing along the sideline looking like he was about to step out of bounds only to gain an extra 5 - 10 yards along the sideline it takes a lot of nerve to claim Allen faked a slide on that run.

Understanding that we would lose home field advantage which can be significant, I would be fine if the game was moved to a domed stadium at a neutral site because it would strongly favor our offense over their defense, particularly with Watt out, and possibly reduce the effectiveness of their rushing attack compared to a cold weather game.

I agree.  Atlanta would have been flooded by Bills fans and likely had a strong home field advantage.  I think I would have made the trip down there from Cincinnati.

It all comes down to tomorrow.  If they can get the game in with just typical Buffalo January weather - 10 to 20 mph wind, temps in the upper teens and some flurries then the Governor made the right call.  But if they can't play tomorrow and the game is pushed to Tuesday then they should have went with the dome option IMO.

Yea I get that hindsight is 20/20 but that's why they pay these people the big bucks.
