The stats likely don't tell the whole story.  But 24 plays...  Role player.  Kyle played 44 plays and had a tackle and a sack.  Harrison Phillips played 23 plays, no stats.  MIN was not running often, and Star is likely part of the run stuffing package.

    Wow.

What adjustment are they going to make

Blitz him more?  They are doing that

Keep him in the pocket and "make him be a qb"  oh god PLEASE do that

This is why you draft a Josh Allen......he can sit in the pocket and hit every part of the field with a flick of his wrist.....

    or

He can scoot for a 1st down with ease....its not Tyrod Taylor ease....but Tyrod could not sit in the pocket and fire away the way Josh does either

I think it is important to note that he is doing this with NO running game to speak of.......

I think we already saw one of the adjustments Vikings made in the second half in playing cover two with various five man delayed blitz packages. This is what I'd do against Allen. We don't really have an imposing running game, so no need for defenses to keep an extra safety in the box. Plus, Allen has shown some weakness in diagnosing coverage, extra rushers, and being consistently accurate. You make him beat you by finding receivers in the gaps for 5--7 gains all the way up the field.

What Allen is doing is how the play is designed. Marcus Murphy needs to time it better. He had already ran past Allen by the time Allen had the ball. He needs to be a couple steps back so the snap goes to Allen and then Allen pushes it to Murphy. They've dialed it up three times now and it worked the first time with Foster for a gain of 8 or something. The last two times it hasn't gone well.

Well then it's a crappy play design because too much can go wrong trying to float the ball in mid air like that with a receiver running full tilt in between the center and QB as the ball is being snapped. There's just too little room to work with. Catch it and hand it off. Simple.

On offense, there is only one story in 2018:  Josh Allen.

Well congratulations Shaw (and really to all Bills fans) on predicting the emergence of HOF Allen. He looked like white Cam Newton out there in the first half. What a competitor! I stand by my reservations about the accuracy and football IQ stuff, but man is he impressive when he's on.

On a somewhat unrelated note, any idea what happened to Wyo from the old BBMB? She used to post a lot back in the early to mid 00s when I was a little more active (under a different username). I'd be curious to get her take on our wonder boy given she probably saw him a bit in college too. Doesn't seem like too many of the "old guard" found their way over here though I haven't been active in years so maybe they're like me and just changed names.

    Cheers!

  5. I think it should have been ruled a forward pass, but whatever it was Allen needs to stop doing it. He's tried that little volleyball set move a few times now and it looks like it's going to be a problem every time he does it. In a way I'm glad the refs ruled it as a fumble so the coaching staff has more ammo to convince Allen it's the wrong way to execute that play.

Our running game was fairly anemic, outside Josh's scrambles.  Note how few first downs we had in the 2nd half, and how we weren't able to crank out first downs once Daboll went conservative.  The line needs to get better there.  The pass blocking was good to very good, with only a couple breakdowns.  They may be gellin', but Bodine > Groy at center, and we went downhill when Bodine went down.

In fairness Minny's run D is pretty solid even with the injuries. That said, we desperately need a new center. The toughness in this group is sorely lacking.

Of course this was the first bills game in years that I couldn’t watch. (Traveling). Can anyone provide a fair/balanced review of how Allen played today?  Was he really good enough to make so many people think he’s a franchise QB?  Or is a lot of that bills fans understandably being biased? Specifically how was his accuracy and how did he do making it through his progressions?  Would we still have scored close to 27 without th defensive turnovers? Thanks!!

The early turnovers and short field position definitely helped the first half scoreboard. That said, Allen was much better than at any point during the preseason or through the first two weeks. He consistently made plays, both with his legs and his arm, some of which were downright spectacular. Our receivers didn't do him any favours with all those drops.

Daboll/McD took their foot off the gas in the second half so his numbers weren't as impressive as they could have been.

Now for the bad. He had one dropped INT in the first quarter and three fumbles, all of which we were lucky to recover. He's still sloppy with the football trying to do too much. He's still slow going through his progressions. He still has no idea what's coming from the defense pre-snap. Romo called him out for this a couple of times during the game.

  8. It's not just the play calling though. It's that this team was a circus the first two weeks with the benchings, and the Davis retirement, and former players taking shots in the media. McD clearly got these guys unified and ready to play.  This is a statement against one of the better defenses in the league. Buffalo isn't going to fold, and McD isn't going anywhere.

Shocker. The passing game suddenly looked decent, and the Browns win their first game since 2016 when Tyrod goes out....

It'd be nice if those who argued how good Tyrod was for all those games last season would step forward & accept defeat. Just because he doesn't throw interceptions, doesn't mean he's good.

People argued Tyrod was good? You're just making that up.

  10. Anyone notice how in the first half tonight Brown's o-line looked overmatched with Tyrod, and then awesome in the second half with Baker? It's not because they got a new o-line. It's because Baker reads the defense and gets the ball out on time and with accuracy, which then opens up the run game. He looked amazing. Congrats to Browns fans. Hopefully Josh can get to that point soon.
