  1. Yeah i think you definitely see the game differently when you gonna lose your money over it. You would cringe over every little detail or mistake. I am definitely a fan of Perine becoming a Bill. He was the best RB i watched all year imo. I play parlays and teasers all the time during football season. So i watch a lot of east coast football. But i also trust in Beane's judgement if he does take one of the top rated RB's in round 2.
  2. Im not a big stats guy as i feel stats can be misleading depending on game situations. I dont really compare players vs other players. I mostly watch alot of college football because i bet on football every weekend and take mental notes of whose wins/cost me money. Case in point when i betted against Florida Perine always made plays even with a weak oline and shaky QB play. That i wouldve assumed he would be a early round draft pick. To hear we could get him in the 5th round would be a coup imo. I only watched Swift when i betted on GA vs S. Carolina and Swift probably had his worst game ever. What was there to like about him i didnt see. I watched alot of Dobbins and Taylor. I was very high on Dobbins coming into this season and he seemed to miss holes he should've hit. Dobbins does have very good contact balance and is able to break tackles. But seemed very passive in blitz pick ups. Taylor played for the best run blocking college team in the country. He had gaping holes to run through. So other than his break away speed i dont see him making much happen on his own. He does remind me of CJ Spiller in with less wiggle. The player i want the most at RB is AJ Dillon. He reminds me of Derrick Henry. Then Perine, Akers, Gibson in that order. But im not a draft expert just a guy that bets $$$ on games and forms my own opinions.
  3. Hmm ... yeah that reminds me how R. Johnson and Doug Flutie competed, pushed, and helped each other get better. It actually divided the team in the locker room. So no thanks on that upgrade. It not quantifiable with stats it deals with players emotions. Thats why Barkley will be the backup this season.
  4. You mean a backup that will undermine him, talk bad about him to teammates, belittle his every mistake to coaches. Someone like Flacco who could lord over him how he's won the big one before. Flacco could show teammates his superbowl ring and tell them how he would have this team hoisting the Lombardi. Flacco could tell Josh that he'll never do what Flacco did in his Superbowl run (in private of course). Or like how Favre helped Aaron Rodgers get better by not helping him. Yeah NFL QBs always thrive off those situations. Hmm ... yeah that reminds me how R. Johnson and Flutie flakes competed, pushed and helped each other get better. You would think they were best of friends to this day because of it. So in summary just IN CASE Josh gets hurt lets risk all team continuity. So US fans can feel more secure in case of emergency that may not even happen. Forget the locker room chemistry. These guys get paid to be emotionless constructs like in Madden. But hey atleast US fans would sleep better knowing we have a better backup on the field (in case we even need them to play). Too bad if only Beane and McDermott could read this thread. They would then see what they're overlooking. Since it is their jobs on the line. I cant billieve i had so much trust in their decisions.
  5. Wow he seems the opposite to me. I think all the posters saying we need to upgrade our backup QB is making you feel like Allens fragile. Im describing a QB so raw coming from college. That it was thought by many scouts, gm's etc. He would need atleast 2 years on the bench learning before he would be nfl ready to play. That Allen was 10,000 QB reps behind Baker Mayfield. Well i for one am glad Beane and McDermott AREN'T going to bring in someone else to take Barkley's job this year. So that should tell anyone else thinking otherwise they're wrong.
  6. Well i haven't watched any videos of said players. I watched them playing during the season. Also i dont know how much college football you watch but i watch a ton while working at a sports bar. Also i gamble on football so watching said player miss a gaping hole repeatedly and losing my money tells me he's not as good as advertised. While i dont have a crystal ball. I've seen many players graded poorly gone to have great nfl careers. And other cant miss RBs bust. But im by no means a scout or draft expert. So i guess we will see. But as a betting man i would wager that we wont pick any RB until at least the 3rd round.
  7. I can understand your concern. I personally place a bigger emphasis on Allen staying out of harms which a franchise QB should do as part of him being our guy. So the back up is of little consequence to me. And while there are plenty QB's better equipped to win games. I perfer to put the onus on Josh for us to not need anyone other than Barkley this year.
  8. Good thing Barkley isnt expected to play any meaningful snaps then. Sorry but he is here for at least this season as Backup QB/mentor to Josh Allen. Let's be real the mentor part is 90% the reason he will definitely be our backup QB.
  9. I compare Dillon to D. Henry who isnt very elusive. But we all saw what type of business decisions defenders had to make when trying to tackle Henry. I envision Dillon doing the same to defenses in the NFL.
  10. Be Josh Allens friend/mentor is exactly right. Someone Allen can trust and confide in as a young QB outweighs the remote possibility of needing Barkley to ever take a snap. As we all know Josh is by nowhere a finished product. He needs a nurturing environment to continue his development imo. Bringing in a QB with more success and a higher aspiration of starting can divide the locker room and derail a season. No thank you on a veteran QB upgrade for this year. We can do that next year.
  11. Does the OP know Barkley isn't here to play on Sunday's. Barkley is here as a fluffer between Allen and the coaching staff. He does that probably better than anyone else you can name to upgrade too.
  12. I've watched all three of "top" RB's and none them struck me as a first round talent. Dobbins seemed to lack the vision to be a big time back although he runs very hard. Dobbins also shows great contact balance and breaks arm tackles alot but is not a good pass protector imo. Maybe his pass pro issues can be fixed as it might be technical. I do like Dobbins as a runner the most out of the top three. Taylor does have breakaway speed but never seemed to wow me as it appeared he usually had huge lanes to run through. He also has seemingly the least wiggle of the three. I am also biased as Wisconsin always seems to produce great college backs that have very little NFL success. Swift i really only watched against south carolina (which was probably his worst game). But i saw very little from him as i was wondering why was he so highly touted. I watched Perine against sec competition and he seemingly always got the job done more often than not. Without the benefit of great blocking or good passing attack. AJ Dillon reminds me alot of Derrick Henry. Dillion faced a stacked box more than any other RB in college (75% if im correct). He creates a big mismatch in that if we go 4 wide (3wrs 1te) with Dillion at RB. How would the defense counter dime, nickel or base. If they go dime or nickel we could pound Dillon and make 180-200 pound dbs trying to tackle him. If they go base we should have lbs and safetys covering Knox, Beasley & Dillon. Dillon is my biggest hopeful at RB with Perine, Akers and Gibson following after.
  13. Yeah lets get a one legged QB to be Allen's back-up. I mean who needs locker room chemistry. These guys are like playing Madden. They have no emotions and everyone will want to be JA's big brother instead of trying to undermine and unseat him as a starter. (Sarcasm included) I really wish we had a age limit for posters. Either that or posters need to act their age.
  14. I would snag him in the 4th in a heartbeat. I like him way better than Swift, Dobbins, or Taylor.
  15. I cant see a realistic reason to even consider replacing Barkley until after this season. Josh Allen needs him for veteran advice and Barkley accepts that role perfectly. Bringing in a Flacco or ugh brissett gives no assurance of the same mentoring that Barkley has shown. Quite possibly hindering Josh Allen and making JA take a step back. Low and behold if thats the case. The haters would call for JA's head on a platter. No thanks ever since Barkley has been on the roster we've seen Allen steadily improving dont try to fix what isnt broken.
  16. I was ultra high on Watson coming out of college. Most of this board was saying DW was a one read and run QB. I also heard the board saying Russell Wilson was just a game manager at that same time. However now DW is no where near as good (but he is very good) as i thought he would be in the NFL. I've watched McDermott's defense basically shut him down two seasons in a row. So my answer is Josh freaking Allen all day everyday and twice on sunday. Hands Down
  17. After our playoff loss im not high om Siren Neal ... Please give me Dugger or Chinn in the 2nd. We can get Dillon or Akers or even A. Gibson later in the draft.
  18. You mean like how Derrick Henry did the Titans this season
  19. The bills will not draft a rb until rd 4 and they will take AJ Dillon the closest thing to Derrick Henry.
  20. You're correct about my assumption on Wade as I dont have any proof. My thoughts are as raw as he was he can only get better and he wouldn't have left a sport were he was already a star. Unless he was serious about becoming the best nfl player he could be. I did watch about half of Dillons games this year but i never saw him drop a pass. True they were mostly screen passes. Also he looked better catching and running routes at the combine than i thought he would. But im not a scout, or draft expert. These are just my opinions.
  21. Then we would play action the defense and have huge passing lanes for our wr's and te's. Plus Dillon can catch and we'vee seen Pat Dimarco split wide so why not split out Dillon.
  22. Yeah while i do read mock drafts i dont put much stock in them. The rb i want is Dillon who "mocked" as a 5th rd pick so I definitely wouldn't spend a 2nd on a RB. I haven't seen a mock that got our 2nd round pick correct in years. Plus while i do think RB is a need. I seriously doubt Beane and co think its as big a need as this board does. Especially with Christian Wade on the team improving everyday.
  23. I would trade down before trading up for a RB. I wouldn't touch any RB before the 3rd round this year. Give me Dillon, Akers, A. Gibson or Perine in that order please. Also im taking into account Christian Wade was working to improve all season and McBeane may be pretty confident in him being ready for that role. I dont think Yeldon will be on this team next year. Yeldon is terrible in pass protection/blitz pick up.
  24. I dont see us drafting dobbins, taylor , or swift in the 2nd round. I seriously doubt we go rb before round 3 this draft. I keep looking for any poster here to add in pass protection/blitz pick up as a attribute for drafting the rb they want. Pass pro mistakes kept yeldon on the bench for most of the year. Yeldon was terrible at blitz pick up for us. D. Freeman (atl) is also terrible at blitz pick up. Personally I'd love getting Akers in the 3rd possibly trading by down from our 2nd rd pick to the early mid 3rd. AJ Dillon and Antonio Gibson are my other hopefuls from 3rd to 5th rd . Seriously if McBeane think that Z. Moss is their guy but only rank him 128 on their overall board. Why would they take a different rb in the 2nd OR even take Moss before the 4th round in that scenario. One other point I'd like to make is just because 90% of the board has little to no faith in Christian Wade stepping up this season. Doesnt mean the ACTUAL people (Mc'beane) dont already know that he WILL be able to handle that responsibility easily. It will be very interesting to see what our FO does with this position going foward. Either way in Mc'Beane i trust. Go Bills
