  1. Man, I hope we win one.

I don't want to look back and wonder what could have been - this group has had SO much success.

At the same time, I need to remember to enjoy this for what it is. We're so competitive each and every week.

How much bad blood was caused over the pass catching back... forget his name? Brandon Beane was definitely pissed and talked about it having "damaged some long term relationships with people in Washington."

Don't think (and certainly hope so as well) that Brady has earned the spot already.

The odds of the best man available for the position just happened to be already on staff in Buffalo are about ZERO.

But b/c of McDimwit who will always put himself and his career ahead of all other things, he'll want to retain someone like Brady b/c he won't offer any opposition to MCDimwith in the locker room.

There will probably be a good OC become available....hire that a guy.

There could be firings concerning teams in the playoffs. Give it some time.

You mean like when he canned Rick Dennison after 1 season to bring in notoriously combustible Brian Daboll to run the offense and Daboll went on to hold the role until he was hired as a HC?

We blamed McDermott for this relationship unraveling but Daboll seems like a hot head.

It was very well known that Daboll was a hot head before he got here, while he was here and after he left.

Derek Anderson told stories about it, Josh talks about it. He grew by the time he got to Buffalo and while he was here, but I got the sense he wasn’t very well received in his previous stops as OC.

I don't consider the kneel down a game blowing mistake. 12 men was. 13 seconds was. I can't come up with too many others over 7 years.

Most people are going to say Hail Murray, the Jefferson catch, the Hurricane Game, etc.

Yes, I know those aren’t game blowing mistakes… but others do not.

I know, I know, when you have a unicorn at QB you set your sights higher. But the only team who can match or beat that record is the Chiefs.

3 of those years he wasn’t the unicorn he is today. Playoff appearances in 2/3 those seasons.

    Sights are still set higher.

  7. One thing I've learned over the years, the majority of players aren't really clear on what it takes to be a high-level coach. What they are VERY clear on is how a coach makes them feel. Players don't view the game the same way most coaches and fans do.

This is really ranking the best "people managers" in those roles. As for X's and O's... well that shows up in the results.

If this was any other team, a big RB/FB would be getting those carries. We're using Josh because we have no choice. I guess you could say that helps make his MVP case but I think it's goosed his TD numbers. He shouldn't get MVP because we're using him as our lead RB inside five yards.

But Cam Newton was allowed to be MVP for the exact same reason? Jalen Hurts was the runner up last year and favorite for most of this year for the exact same reason before he threw up all over himself? Give me a break.

am far less convinced that Josh will be in the HOF eventually.  Keep in mind the decision is not up to Bills fans, but to sportswriters around the country.  And they look at specific considerations, where he doesn't measure up.  He has never been All-Pro or MVP.  He has never in any particular year been seen as the best QB in the NFL.  He has no rings.  He has a reputation as an inconsistent performer (well-deserved this year, which is why he's not on the Pro Bowl squad).  If some of these limitations go away, then things could be different.  My hope is that he gets his ring(s), he makes an All-Pro list, and that those factors are turned around as reasons why he IS selected.

I mean the statistically he’s on pace to be in the top 5-10 QBs ever.

Josh’s average season the last 4 years blows some of the recent MVP seasons out of the water. Somehow this inconsistent QB is consistently putting up MVP numbers since breaking out in 2020. We’re going to penalize the guy for consistently being elite while MAYBE 1 other guy a year produces a similar season and gets an award.

His *career* INT% of 2.4% is equal to guys in a similar era like Matthew Stafford and better than Rivers, Roethlisberger, Manning and Newton to name a few. Drew Brees sat at 2.3%. Want to talk about fumbles? Lamar? Hurts? They’re not passers like Josh Allen. Hurts averages 3 fumbles lost a season, Lamar 4, Josh 4. How come we don’t hear about their fumbling problem?

Sure, let’s talk about all the other dual threat QBs that throw the ball like Josh…. Waiting… Josh is about to have his 4th straight 4,000 yard passing season. Lamar, Newton and Hurts have combined for 1 between the 3 of them… it came in Newton’s rookie season.

If you do not want to recognize how great he truly is, I just feel sorry you (and sports writers) are willing to miss it.

Keenum won enough to keep them in the mix. He isn’t great either but if his team wins this week they are in. I’m not a Rudolph fan but can’t deny that he has played pretty well. Kyle Allen is a bottom 5-10 backup imo.

I am open to a ton of options and maybe even 2. If you signed someone like Brissett and drafted a guy like Pratt for the PS I’d be good with that (assuming he’d get to the PS which is likely). If Josh is out for a while it is a problem either way. I just hope it isn’t a “season over” type of trouble.

I guess my point with Kyle Allen is, he couldn’t produce the numbers Keenum did across 2 games? His career averages are better than that and he was on some talent depleted teams.

Brissett is too good to sign with us. He’ll have the opportunity to sign with a team in QB purgatory because he’s good enough to start. It’ll be too hard to get that type of quality backup to sign here, because most want a chance to play.

The total TD thing is a little misleading too. We started out the season not wanting to subject Josh to so many plays where he might get crushed on designed runs, leading to stingers, etc., which could've jeapardized our season last game. Thankfully not. Then Damien Harris went down and it eventually became obvious we needed to change up some things. It's not like Josh scored 15 rushing TDs from 20 yards out. Mots of those were inside the 5 because Cook is small and Murray is cooked.

On Josh’s 15 rushing TDs, he scores from an average of 6 yards out. It’s pretty much a 50/50 split from inside the 5 and outside the 5. This isn’t Jalen Hurts getting carried in by his teammates 11 times from the 1 yard line.

As for Damien Harris being the catalyst for Josh’s “misleading” TD numbers inside the 5… no. He has 8 from inside the 5 yard line and 5 of those have come the last 3 weeks… Damien Harris last played on 10/15.

The last 3 weeks have been *must win* all that says to me is with our backs against the wall we want the ball in the hands of our best player.

  12. 2 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said:

The need for a capable backup is 100% correct. If you disagree with this, you’re wrong. This isn’t an “opinion” topic. We saw the value of a quality backup this year. Guys like Minshew, Browning, Rudolph, Keenum and especially Flacco have their teams (or had in Browning’s case) in the middle of the playoff push. You can’t just throw the season away if your QB misses a few weeks. Kyle Allen is not that guy. He just isn’t good enough.

I’d be fine taking a guy in the 4th or later to be the long term answer. Maybe that is someone like Rattler, Ward, Travis, Pratt or Hartman. Those are just a few names that could make sense if the value is there. In terms of NFL guys, Brissett is a guy that I like. McCorkle or Zappe would be okay. Zach Wilson anyone? He isn’t my favorite option but has some upside. Tyrod, Huntley, Jameis and Rudolph are all free agents that have had some success. Stick might be as well. Josh Dobbs and Tannehill are the last couple of obvious answers to me.

Anyways, I’d hate going into 2024 with the little margin of error that we have now. Admittedly, I don’t think Kyle Allen is any good. We saw this year what can happen when you give away a few games. We have the 3rd best odds to win the Super Bowl but haven’t even clinched a playoff spot yet. Let’s not give away games moving forward and this protects you if Josh were to miss a month(ish).

You don’t think Kyle Allen could complete 64% of his passes for 291 yards, 1 TD and 3 INT across two games like Keenum?

If Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky weren’t so incompetent, I think Rudolph would’ve been here next year. Supposedly we liked him a lot coming out in 2018. At this point he probably goes back to Pittsburgh with a chance to start.

    Absolutely won’t see the field:

    Lamar

    Hamilton

    Roquon

    Queen

    Likely

    Clowney

    Stanley

    Linderbaum

    Gus

    Hill

    Williams

    Humphrey

    Pierce

    Flowers

    OBJ

I’d expect a bunch of them will be inactive.  A handful of them have been playing with injuries.  Especially in their secondary and RB has already been decimated.

Is this possible? You can’t have more than 5-6 inactive players… this list has like 15 guys on it lol

Correct. In a vacuum, Kincauds stats look good for a rookie TE on a winning football team. However we cannot justly remove the investment placed into him via draft selection and desire more from a first round pick. This isn’t on the player as much as the organization.

And he’s producing at a high level for a rookie TE? What does draft status have to do with it? His production has been congruent with the WR drafted ahead of him in RD1.

Nah. I want the best players.

We had this with Sammy Watkins. He had a “really good season too.” He wasn’t Mike Evans or OBJ. And ended up not being close.

What do Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans and OBJ have to do with Dalton Kincaid?

    Answer: Absolutely nothing

  15. God forbid we mention Kincaid without mentioning LaPorta. As if LaPorta’s success means Kincaid is a bust.

Outside of Mike Ditka, LaPorta is having arguably the greatest season ever by a rookie TE - it doesn’t mean Kincaid is bad or struggling this year. Looking at numbers quick (it should be noted that LaPorta will play 1 extra game than previous rookie TE as well as Kincaid due to injury)

LaPorta has the most catches (81) all-time.

Kincaid has 62 catches which is 6th all-time. He’ll likely finish top 5.

Laporta will likely finish with the 3rd most yards. Kincaid will finish somewhere around 15 all-time.

They’re featuring LaPorta much more, but Kincaid’s role is nothing to sneeze at.

Ok.  I haven't thought I could add much to this discussion other than there is no other QB I'd rather have for the Bills than Josh.  This is true in most every way conceivable.  He has exceeded all reasonable expectations in almost every way possible.  But, I was doing some self educating and found the NFelo website and took this snip.  I tell my kids that math is beautiful because it is the basis of science and science is the best hope of humanity.  So, I rest my case.

That's right, the pod guys said it was about 35 seconds, an eternity for postgame handshakes.

I vividly remember that play. I went to college in Massachusetts. I had one roommate who was also a Bills fan and the rest were Patriots fans - we all watched the game together.

I was so fired up about that hit because it was absolute bull####. I love my friends, but in typical Masshole fashion they turned it into me being a sore loser, mocked the hit, etc.

I understand that they don’t have a QB and that seems to be the excuse, which is somewhat valid.

Although, you can look at some of the better coaches in the league when they haven’t had good QB play and they’re usually hovering around .500 during those seasons.

    Sean McDermott

    Kyle Shanahan

    Sean McVay

    Mike Tomlin

    Sean Payton

Personally I think Saleh runs his mouth a little too much. The “keeping receipts” and “we’ll be playing them for a playoff spot” or even “we’ve embarrassed QBs”. I think that stuff is fine to say in the locker room, but he’s constantly spewing it to the media.
