That depends on a lot of factors. What if Drew "competes" in training camp and fails to earn the starting spot? Are you saying he quits foorball before week 1? What kind of example would that be for Drew to set for his kids? Nah, Drew CAN end up our #2 if the cards are played correctly.

Most of the threads here say either start Drew or trade him. Why can't he be our #2 QB? He is still under contract and has been down this road before (being eclipsed by a younger QB). Drew proved in NE that he could be a team player, keep his mouth shut as the #2, and win games off the bench when needed. Why couldn't this work for the Bills? Restructuring his contract (again) would help also. He would probably rather restructure than move his family again at this point.

Nobody answered my question yet from earlier - did Reed put out his hands as if to block the defender, or was he just running the interference (i.e., route) he was asked to run? Was it REALLY Reed's interference or was it the play call that put him in that position? It was hard to tell on the TV replay, but it almost looked like he ran into the guy & wasn't blocking with his hands. If that's the case, I would argue (if I was MM) that he was just running the route called for by the play.

What was his record as a starter this year before getting pulled? I think it was pretty decent, with a weak supporting cast.

I saw it, I think, only on one series. If the Bills brain trust had such confidence in DB's field generalship and play calling ability against a top notch defense, why not let Drew call the plays and audible out of bad plays? Especially at home? I was shocked after the recent success that the Bills didn't go no huddle. Is this due to a lack of confidence in Drew, coaching ego (needing to call all the plays) or a concern about our ability to run the no-huddle and still control the clock? Would like to hear your thoughts on this. To me, it points out an overall lack of confidence in putting the game in DB's hands.

is to upgrade the QB position. DB will do enough in the regular season against weaker defenses to stay above .500, but he cannot beat top defenses the likes of which we will see in the playoffs. If we are going to the next level, it won't be with Drew and (for next year at least) I don't think it will be with JP either. We need to bring in a FA QB like Kurt Warner.
