  1. To those of you doubting the correlation of physical fitness and quality QB play, watch .
  2. That's possible. I guess there's not much room for Brooks' score to be lower than Peterson's. Googling wasn't much help but I saw this analysis of Brooks on a LSU Tigers fan site: "Ron Brooks- The super-sleeper of the draft. Brooks had the unfortunate college experience of playing with Patrick Peterson, Mo Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu. Due to the overall talent Brooks was stuck playing as a key reserve in the LSU defensive backfield. When he did play key minutes, it was hard not to pay close attention to Brooks. He can play man/zone coverage, he can come off the edge with elite speed against either the run or the pass and can become a team’s returner if needed. I don’t expect many pro bowls from Brooks, but a very steady career."
  3. Lots of diehard LSU fans down here, so I contacted one I work with to find out about CB Ron Brooks, our 4th round pick. I thought some of you would be interested so FWIW here's his response: I predict you will be very happy with Ron Brooks. The guy is amazing! LSU's strongest positions year after year are the Defensive Backs. We must have one helluva DB coach who I never hear about. Ron won MVP in a couple of big games if I remember correctly. The only reason you didn't hear more about him is because LSU has consistently had the #1 (Patrick Peterson) & #2 (Tyran Mathieu, Heisman candidate) CBs in the nation playing ahead of him. It doesn't get a lot of press but I also think Ron's academics may have held him back. I just recently heard he got some abysmal score on a nationally recognized test. I also think academics is how our QBs ended up 1st & 2nd string. Academic success is a bonus in Les Miles contract.
  4. Great thread. When does training camp start?
  5. What show was this on? Maybe I can catch it on a re-run.
  6. Thanks, but I still think it's cool that the guy comes across the country to represent Bills nation for the draft.
  7. Nice work from a guy who comes from further away than I do. I'm humbled.
  8. I agree - he was extremely tentative. You could time him hitting the hole with a sundial. He also seemed tentative to me at the LOS, running the wildcat too, especially as the season wore on.
  9. FWIW, Buddy said on GR this morning that Easley is healthy, has been since before the end of last season, and is ready to go. Should be fun to watch in camp.
  10. Who doesn't like Buddy these days?
  11. It's amazing to me how much attention this issue gets. I will say, after moving south it's easy to see why the better prospects in almost all sports come from the south. The better weather allows for almost year round play of all sports, and the level of intensity of parents and school programs only fuels it further. Most northern kids have little chance when compared to how kids in the south grow up.
  12. I think Glenn has a good chance to start, but I also believe Hairston will compete hard to keep the job and it wouldn't shock me to see him start on opening day.
  13. Personally, I think Moorman's been a good and consistent holder, but I haven't been happy with his punting for a few years now.
  14. Graham is the career all-time leader in ACC for kickoff return yards. This past year he led the ACC in punt return yards. It's possible that Graham's special teams ability was sought in anticipation of letting McKelvin walk next year.
  15. I think this is the answer. They already have a million possession guys, and don't really need another, better one. They were specificially looking to fill a niche (speed) rather than overall polish.
  16. Right - which (as you were suggesting) only makes Glenn's number all the more impressive by comparison.
  17. FWIW, the bench press comparisons are favorable: Adams: 19 reps Martin: 20 reps Kalil: 30 reps Glenn: 31 reps
  18. National scout Darrell Moody likes his toughness, length, ceiling, pass pro and his LT play in the senior bowl. Love the pick and I'm confident he'll be our LT for many years.
  19. OP: your hypothesis is impossible to make (fairly) as an outsider. Are you saying that if Buddy had moved he would not be "a day late and a dollar short" - regardless of the outcome? Do you advocate moving even if you get fleeced by the other team? If Buddy declined a trade because he saw that he was being hosed, is he "a day late and a dollar short" or is he protecting the interests of the team?
  20. 1) In Buddy I trust. 2) It's not a 1-round draft.
