  1. Using the WR position as an example, drafting Ray-Ray McLeod, Ricky Proehl, and acquiring the likes of Kelvin Benjamin, Andre Holmes and various other journeymen does not inspire confidence in the current regime's offensive talent appraisal ability. Also agree with the other posts that say the regime will ultimately be judged for its selection of Josh Allen.
  2. Watching the precocious, mobile, and accurate Patrick Mahomes, and the GOAT Tom Brady do battle Sunday night, like many Bills fans, I couldn't help reflect on the current Bills state of affairs, offensively (pun intended). First of all, it's only fair to say, the Defensive side of the ball looks great - with numerous draft picks and FA performing well. (Good job GM Beane and, former defensive coordinator, Coach McDermott). The offensive side, not so much... While it may be too early to judge Josh Allen's prospects for success, by any reasonable account, he is a serious "project" - with concerns over his ability to process reads and throw accurately. Clearly, the FO fell in love with his size, athleticism, and character/personality. But for those of us who are generally patient, but still 'results-oriented', the question remains: can you learn to be a winning NFL QB when you've never showed you could be a good college one? Then there's the decision to trade all that draft capital to move up to get your guy. The track record for the FO to acquire other 'offensive' players has been, well, just that: Kelvin Benjamin has size, no speed, questionable hands, and no detectable heart; Zay Jones, whom they traded up to get in the 2nd RD., remains an enigma with dubious hands and separation skills; Ray-Ray is small, plays that way, and is a special teams liability. And then there's drafting the likes of Nate Peterman and Ricky Proehl (sigh). The jury is still out on Wyatt Teller, who is purportedly a mauler but somehow isn't good enough to crack an average OL, let alone get activated on a weekly basis. To date, Dion Dawkins is the only positive addition via the draft. As far as FA's, Chris Ivory is the only real upgrade, over last year's Carolina Panther du jour, Mike Tolbert. That's about it... The FO couldn't "see" what Andy Reid and the Chiefs did in Patrick Mahomes, falling in love instead with Nate Peterson's "outstanding character" in the 5th round. (Note: with the rare exception of Tom Brady, unlike RB's, great QB's are generally not available after round 2). Further, "McBeane" didn't have a back up plan this year at QB, striking out on AJ McCarron and creating the current mess by their lack of foresight and talent awareness. Okay, the offence is not very good. There is, however, a glimmer of good news . The Bills have 10 2019 draft picks. Having said that, a casual fan with a draft magazine could hit on say, 40% of them. A Rhesus monkey maybe 30%. The current Bills brass has been at about 20% - with, again, a clear preference to draft guys who can tackle. So, two questions Bills Mafia: ( 1) is the current FO truly capable of appraising and acquiring good players for the offense? (Early returns aren't good); (2) If JA continues to resemble a strong armed LB versus a playoff caliber QB, and a weak 2018 season, 2019 draft, and 2019 season is produced, do Beane & Company deserve to see year 4 (2020) in Buffalo?
  3. Thought the OL held their own, and played with passion today against a tough Titans' front.
  4. Yep, here we go again. Carolina is Beane's go to, 'happy place'. Would be nice if he and Director of Player Personnel Dan Morgan's due diligence - both ex-Panthers - meaningfully extended beyond their familiarity with Carolina. A recent trade history... March 8, 2017 – Buffalo signs fullback Mike Tolbert from Carolina. September 2, 2017 – Carolina trades wide receiver Kaelin Clay to Buffalo for cornerback Kevon Seymour. September 4, 2017 – Buffalo signs free agent quarterback Joe Webb from Carolina. October 24, 2017 – Carolina claims wide receiver Kaelin Clay off waivers from Buffalo. October 31, 2017 – Carolina trades wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to Buffalo for third- and seventh-round 2018 picks. January 8, 2018 – Buffalo signs safety Dean Marlowe after he was released by Carolina in August 2017. March 15, 2018 – Buffalo signs free agent defensive tackle Star Lotulelei from Carolina. March 29, 2018 – Buffalo signs free agent wide receiver Kaelin Clay from Carolina.
  5. Great caption. Not to dampen the mood, fyi the correct song lyric is "sky rockets in flight"... afternoon delight!"
  6. KB's performance suggests he's not a #1 WR. Well documented lack of speed, questionable leadership, plays soft. This is his last year as a Bill as he'll expect to be paid as a #1 and isn't worth it.
  7. Not a #1 WR but will expect to be paid like one. Self-important, soft, not a leader. Personally, after the season would trade him for a 3rd round draft pick and call it a day.
  8. I listened to the interview and, frankly, found Daboll to be knowledgeable and honest. The fact is, he's got two young QB's he's developing. It's clear he is being patient and supportive while recognizing there are/ will be growing pains. Interestingly, the poster alludes that Daboll was "brutal" and "almost Billichick-esque" in his boring (note; correct spelling) interview. By any measure, Daboll is far more expressive than the soon to be HOF coach. Having said that, if personality and entertaining the fans in a radio interview is the hallmark of a great coach, wouldn't Rex Ryan and Jim Mora Sr. still be in the league?
  9. Is Shaq Lawson part of the problem or a piece of the (future) puzzle? Is he brittle, brutal, or capable? Recent medical reports have noted him as 'day to day' . However, this will be the second week in a row he's not participating in practice and will likely miss the Vikes game. Is there any intel on this guy and any indication of how the FO feels about him and his current situation?
  10. As per Sporting News, are the Bills in fact rudderless, making contradictory moves seemingly without a plan? Does Beane really know what he's doing? (With due respect, the Pegulas have demonstrated they do not). Thoughts? http://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nfl/news/vontae-davis-retirement-halftime-buffalo-bills-week-2/15xlnsikkoz74zn3gztcnn25p
  11. Good idea to move Edmunds to OLB. Milano may be too light as a MLB but, as a stop gap, the move would be an improvement. Next year get a real MLB next year in free agency.
  12. Tremaine Edmunds is out of position... alot. Is it that he's a rookie, or that he isn't instinctive as a MLB? IMO this is his audition year. If he doesn't cut it as a MLB, pick up a FA to play this key position and move the kid to OLB.

  14. Following the Ravens debacle, watched an interview with Kelvin Benjamin. He came across as disinterested, unaccountable, and a prima donna (e.g "I'm the #1 receiver, right"). Sal Maiorana had a similar take (see attached article). If the FO is looking for players with character, what were Beane and McDermott thinking? Going forward is KB part of the problem or solution? https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2018/09/14/buffalo-bills-offense-kelvin-benjamin-and-charles-clay-lack-passing-game-josh-allen/1288972002/
  15. If he's frustrated in Green Bay, do you think he'd be happy with the team that would surround him in Buffalo? Not. Not to mention it's improbable that the Packers' brass would risk their careers unloading him. Having said that, in a perfect (Bills') world, it would be far better value backing up the truck for Mr. Rodgers than using the projected draft capital to move up to #2 for an unproven rookie QB. Mr. Beane should at least make a call...
