Only fitting since we never noted Jessica Walter's passing over in OTW.

I never got into that show, but every once in a while I remember the scene in the boat in the first episode where the younger son has taken cartography classes or something and he goes to the map and goes "okay, we know the blue is the land.."

    Makes me chuckle everytime.

I hope Eskeridge is on our radar.  Davis is an impressive specimen. Dunno if I’d want to roll the dice on him considering our style of play and the likelihood of the FO wanting to roll with their guy Edmunds

Eskeridge has a pro-comp as Steve Smith on the Draft network. Obviously those aren't worth much, but he does look like he plays like a dog, which I like.

Yeah, I doubt we go LB early unless JOK falls.

That is my next best 15... I don't think any of those have been picked? I have McNeil, Collins, Rodgers and Werner all as 3rd rounders but outside my next best 15. I have a 4th on St-Juste which I thought might be as high as anyone had him, but obviously not! I actually was going to do a sleeper thread over this weekend and he is one of the names I have in mind for it. I can actually see the Bills liking him, he is like a bigger Levi Wallace to me. A zone only, cover 3 corner who lacks speed but is gonna be really disciplined keep things infront of him and rally to tackle. The others on your list are all guys I either haven't watched at all yet or don't have three games of film on so haven't graded for the board.

    Two things:

What do you think about D'wayne Eskridge as a Bills target?

Also, I have seen Daniel Jeremiah all over Jamin Davis and has even said he might end up being a first round pick... thoughts? Reminds me of Jeremiah being super high on Duggar last year before anyone else was.

Yeah I got that now. Players switch positions so often that they often have to abandon their old number because it isn't allowed. I don't think it would bother me to see a LB with a single digit number but it might just be something to get used to. I'm normally for more player freedom, and I don't really see the harm.

Players that switch positions are not required to change numbers unless they change teams. (At least that is how it used to be, I think it is still this way?)

Also, I hate this idea. I’m a traditionalist. I still hate WR’s in teens and LB’s in 40’s.

This is such a dumb trade for the Panthers. They just traded valuable picks for a QB that has practically zero chance of ever leading a team to a Super Bowl. They should have used those picks as part of package to trade up for a QB this year or next year.

I'm not saying Darnold will bounce back, but Tannehill is the obvious comp. Getting out of that dumpster fire might do wonders for him.

Besides, my best guess on this is that they held the "we want desaun card" so tightly that they got out maneuvered by SF and now that DW is clearly not an option they had to fold that hand and get something. 4th best QB in the class isn't worth it if you're not in love with him.

This is also stoking my newly found "Justin Fields to the Broncos" idea that I love.

I just read one article about it saying they expect Darnold to start over Bridgewater.

Was Teddy that bad last year?

Teddy was good/very good the first half of the year and then he collapsed. I think the offense was well built and user friendly and made him look good and then defenses caught up.

Every panthers game I watched was him having the ball and a timeout or two and 50-120 seconds to go 70 yards to tie/win and he just looked awful every single time.

I like him also in the 6th or 7th round. He would be a hybrid player RB/WR, Punt returner. Something like Isaiah McKenzie.... any idea on his 40 time? He definitely looks explosive and shifty.

    I saw 4.38 somewhere.

I like Cade Johnson too...but I think I like him as a priority free agent, again just the depth of the class. The other guys have higher ceilings.

Gunner on punt teams is a plus. We need to get some guys who can contribute on OF/DEF and special teams and move some of the special team only guys off the roster without losing ST production.

Simi Fehoko is NOT a 4.37 guy in pads. He’s not even a 4.57 guy in pads. Seen him play a lot, he’s not an nfl WR.

He looks pretty slow in highlights I've seen. Maybe he has "get up speed" where his long strides can get him down field quick on a clean break, but I don't see the beating off the line speed needed to create seperation in the league.

Cade Johnson is an interesting SWR option. Looks like a tough guy who loves to get dirty in the middle of the field.

Draft Network compared him to Doug Baldwin, and Jim Nagy at the Senior Bowl loves him.

Also, Pooka Williams has a skill set that I could get behind:

Speed and catching out of the backfield.

I think a slight chance... but I think as the team becomes more top heavy slot corner is a spot where they will cycle through 4 year rookie deals.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Dane Jackson in the running for NCB after this year if we don't keep TJ.

If Paye is there at #30 he would be a serious consideration I would think. Agree on Jones especially fitting what McD and Beane want. I was saying the same somewhere else earlier in the week.

I think we'll get a unique look at what they think Epy can be this year in the first couple rounds. There isn't much to love at edge between picks 30-80, but then there are some intriguing prospects after that, might just not have much role in year one.

There is nobody that I am really "wishing" for at edge for the Bills. Kwity Paye is my #1 edge in the class but he will be gone. Then Rousseau and Jaelen Phillips I can see the attraction but there are significant question marks with both. I like Joseph Ossai as a raw, higher ceiling guy but I think he would be more comfortable in a 3-4...... I am not a big Ojulari guy or Basham guy. I suppose Patrick Jones in round 2 or Quincy Roche in round 3 are the two spots where I could see an argument that you can marry the value with the talent and the need. I totally get that edge is our biggest need, I have banged that drum for a while.... but this isn't the best edge class of the last decade by any means. I tried to find a late round gem I could fall in love with at edge as well this past week but not really had much luck. I actually think the Buffalo kid has some skills but again I think he is more of a 3-4 fit...

Jones and Weaver are interesting prospects out of Pittsburgh. Cover1's draft guy was on a podcast the other day talking about how they fit what Beane and McD like at DE. Will be interesting to see. I think the closer we get the more people are kind of questioning the Edge setup here.

I will say, I have seen some things that have Paye dropping lower with higher traits guys like Phillips and Rous. going before him. You see him as a fit here if he somehow gets down to 30?

I like his length and his motor but I don't see how he wins off the edge at the pro level. He has average burst, a pretty pedestrian initial step and against bigger tackles who got the first punch in he is stonewalled almost every time. He was a really good college player and he overpowered college tackles but he will not have that same power advantage in the NFL. So if he can't win with speed, and he can't win with power, and he isn't (as surely even you would admit) a refined technician I just don't know how he matches his college success in the pros. I think Basham can be an NFL player, he will start in the league but the guy I see when I watch him is a slightly thicker Manny Lawson.

What's your top five wishlist for edge for the Bills?

    SB bound.

It is both actually. If he was a true franchise level Quarterback his kneeling would have been overlooked. But he isn't. He was however less terrible at football than many of the guys around the league in backup jobs then and now. The issue is NFL teams have 1 pretty clear rule about backup QBs.... they must not be a distraction to the team. And Kap would be. That is why as of last season Blaine Gabbert was still in the league and Kap wasn't.

    This.

He wants to be a distraction and the juice ain't worth the squeeze. No way I'm fielding 5 questions about why my Backup QB did x y or z every press conference.

  15. I'm all about Ihmir Smith-Marsette in the 5th range. Love his downfield skillset and return plus, and I'm absolutely fine if he only see's 25 targets this year and just learns from the room. He looks a bit like a bigger, slightly slower John Brown to me.

I really don’t think that’s part of the Competition Committee’s area. When the one-shell rule was ‘revealed’ to the media, it was with the then Tampa Bay coach saying that the Bucco Bruce Orange creamsicle set would not be worn in an upcoming game, as had been planned prior in the offseason / ramp-up to the season in ~July, when these uni schedules have recently started to be officially released by teams. I expect that call was made by a safety committee in conjunction with the docs involved with CTE studies.

The UniWatch’s Paul Lucas & Sports Logo forum’s Chris Creamer started a podcast a couple of months ago and a recent one had the one-shell rule as a main topic. There has been a rumor that the one-shell rule will be ending. They don’t know if this year or next; nor is it for certain, as is the nature of rumors. But it has been a kinda persistent one. But so far, I don’t think there’s been any leaks from any clubs about any possible second helmet color. Perhaps at the draft? Perhaps there will be an announcement later into the offseason? Or perhaps, in the same manner as its inception, a team will just show up with a different helmet.

can someone explain this to me? No idea what this rule is, what it means, or why it should be changed...?

These "trade down" scenarios are iffy. How far down do you trade? How can you know for sure he will be there? You can't predict what other teams will do.

You don’t trade down to get player X. You trade up to get player X.

Trading down is because there is no player you must have, so the added value in later picks is worth more to you than the players available.
