The Bills have bragging rights over the Packers
RochesterRob replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been to Madison, WI and I don't think that the drive is that short unless conditions are perfect on I80 by Chicago. -
Awful (but memorable) TV commercials

Yep. J.G. Wentworth. Lowest of the low. Makes a payday lender look respectable. It's your cash! (after I take a very hefty cut). -
This is how my weekend started
RochesterRob replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Welp. Friday was not a great day as I had to chase around to get material for a project. Normal supplier is out so I go across the road to his competitor. Start off well enough in the office even though the price is considerably higher. Go to get loaded and truck is blocking closest door to where I need to be so I go to the next door down in that building. The guy takes the better part of 10 minutes to find it after the office called out to make sure it was there. Only one guy out there so he had to have talked to the office. Then he leaves me so I have to tote 4 50 lb bags 100 feet because nobody wanted to move the darn truck. I am steaming on the way home so I call a place I don't like to do business with but at least their price was in line with my regular supplier. I go to the third place and even though I have to go through the hoops of them placing my name and address into their system I am out getting loaded in 5 minutes and the guy carries several 50 lb bags like he was Popeye. Guys might say things ended well but I had to burn an additional 10 bucks of gas plus I am taking back the first order so that is another 15 bucks but I net 150 dollars when it is done. Had my primary supplier had stock which he should have I could have saved all the hassle. -
Plenty of hot women that don't need to rely on aids such as make up or fancy clothes. I see them out and about at Wegman's, church, clerking at area businesses, etc.. Yes, the outfits that Tomei wore in MCV made a very attractive woman even hotter but the same could be said about a good dozen women I see on a weekly basis.

Make the Perfect Fast Food Meal
RochesterRob replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'll go to a mom and pop place when the opportunity is there. I agree in that you will pay more there versus McD's. -
Fran Drescher was always done up as a tease with short skirts as opposed to everyday clothing. Just like Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny. Good looking but let's see her done up as Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch and see how much the guys pant. I did not mind one bit when girls I knew in college went all out in clothing but a guy was in for a surprise when you saw them for breakfast sans the evening outfit.

I could see that. Guys would hit on her (if she were not a celeb) at the Applebee's down the road from the Galleria. Mila would draw action at the McDonald's down in Wellsville or Warsaw (if she were not a celeb) on a slow Tuesday. It would be tough for Mila in East Aurora or Hamburg (if she were not a celeb).
-
Was Mila ever considered hot or was she the best one available to fill a role for a thin bitchy girl on That 70's Show. By the way I see IFC starting up reruns of That 70's Show even though Danny Masterson had sexual harassment issues surrounding him. Another one that I don't get the admiration for her body.

Yeah, I never saw what all the fuss was about. At the same time mission accomplished in terms of next door female neighbor that would not easily attract to a nerd but not smoking hot to the point where Leonard did not stand a chance. On Kaley's best days maybe a 7 in the early days of the show but now there are lady truckers who could give Kaley a run for her money.

I would not call Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) a 10 and she is on week after week. The market is not huge for those kinds of women but the opportunity is there on occasion. Take somebody such as Justine Bateman from Family Ties. At best she was cute but never really a looker while on that show. There has always been a place for actresses such as Jean Stapleton or Bea Arthur.

Hopefully, not to The Men Who Made America extreme. -

Yeah, but you might say the original In Search Of was the grandaddy to them all. -

Like I said, continuity. -

Yep, that was the only place to go if you wanted discussion on offbeat topics that I previously mentioned. Even if you did not live in the middle of nowhere and had access to a public library back then there really was very little material to check out there. -
If you could go back in time to high school

I always liked accounting but am too slow paced for the production that is sought in the cubicle farms that are accounting firms. Maybe back in the days when you could make a go as a small time accountant in a small town. -
Hopefully, there is no Star Trek section in the Great Beyond as Ellison would be very unhappy to be seated next to Roddenberry for eternity. Going to be enough problems putting enough space between Doohan, Shatner, and Takei to keep the peace.

If you could go back in time to high school
RochesterRob replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yep, odds are your life will turn out better with more college and a degree that is highly useful. Used to be you could make a good living as a craftsman, etc. but it is so hard to find such a job that is more than a lot of hours with minimal pay in current times. I wished that I was more serious about something such as law school in my youth but it seemed like a lot of investment just to come back home and do closings on real estate transfers. -
You know. The show from the 1970's usually seen on Saturday evenings back during the late 1970's. The one hosted by Leonard Nimoy that talked about UFO's, paranormal phenomena, ancient civilizations, Bigfoot, etc. Weird background music. This one will be hosted by Zach Quinto who played Spock in the Abrams Star Trek movies so there is that continuity. I wonder if there is enough new UFO material, new Bigfoot material, ,etc. to make a decent run today? People were hungering to see such topics discussed back then. Is there the same type of demand or will the material seem passe today?

To be fair Ellison's script did not fit the mold of 1960's television in a lot of respects. It was known to be budget heavy with many extras and talked about the seamy side of drug dealing which was taboo for 1960's television. Ellison was not the only one to be dissatisfied with his Star Trek involvement which pointed to lesser writers in the last year and a half of the show as the name writers shunned the show. Also, the budget was cut so they probably were not getting the offers dollars-wise that they felt they were due.

I think that 3 out of every 4 guys could be accused of aiming too high and rightly so. I know I did and at the same time I did ask a couple of the trim honor roll girls to the prom.
