  1. There have been a number of rich kid quarterbacks over the years. Not every football player comes from poverty. However, Rosen chooses to use his status and platform to stand up for those less fortunate than him. This might lead to him saying some controversial things, but I don't understand how that makes him a self-centered, arrogant, silver spoon jerk. I see him as much closer to Robin Hood. The things he is saying are of no benefit to him personally. He is putting himself out there to help others and say some of the things they cannot say.

He's the kind of guy who might clash with coaches if he disagrees with them, but he will be loved by teammates and will likely take the blame and fall for them. The team who drafts him better have an OC who is smarter than him, otherwise you are asking for trouble. A lot of great quarterbacks clashed with coaches over the years...Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Dan Marino etc etc etc. It's the competitor in them. This is not a bad thing. This is the kind of thing people praise Baker Mayfield for. Why? Because he is a short, a walk on, who looks more like an every man and whose family had financial troubles?

Honestly, if people take the time to read, and have some semblance of reading comprehension skills, they will see that this guy is really intelligent and the things that he is saying make a ton of sense. Is he going to stick up for the little man? Yes. Is he going to kneel for the anthem? No. Having a hot tub in the dorm? Genius...I wish I found a way to make that happen.

I just can't understand the hate for Rosen. It seems like it is based on perception and not reality with a little bit of jealousy mixed in.

I read this a while ago when I was trying to study Rosen. Its obvious that McDermott loves him and that the interviewer kind of baited Rosen with some of the questions and Rosen gave extremely intelligent answers. He's my guy. I'm not sure how anybody could read that interview and come to the conclusion that he is a jerk and a bad teammate.

Still, he'll probably be #1 overall. And, more importantly, I like him the most, haha.

Dude carried his team, with a very, very poor team around him. The fact that he made it to the draft without sustaining a career ending injury says a lot, considering his o-line.

Perhaps he has some indication from the Browns that they are going to take him. If that is the case, there is no reason for him to throw here.

    Why?

All signs point to them both being top5 if not #1 and #2

Other than a year of conditioning, what's it going to change?

For Rosen, just means he might get hurt again and drop his stock.

I mean, unless you mean that the browns are #1 overall, so it would avoid them, although they are almost always top5 lol

All college coaches say this crap because it is in their best interests for guys to stay for four or five years. College coaches are snakes. They use kids up and spit them out and make millions doing it. Leach is an idiot. Rosen would have looked great running read options for Chip Kelly....Just dumb.

Like you said, Rosen probably gets killed running Chip's offense and Darnold's stock would likely drop ala Matt Barkley.

This seems like the obvious solution.

15 yards for non-intentional, run-of-the-mill, grabby but not violent Pass Interference.

Spot foul for "tackling the guy because he beat you" or other such flagrant violations. Personally I'd also add on an ejection to that kind of cheap shot, too.

Good idea, but I just think that this is putting too much interpretation out there for the few again, so you have the same problem as in the refs are dumb and make weird, corrupt decisions.

This is rule change might just ruin the game. I coach high school football and we train our corners to commit PI when beat because they are preventing a touchdown and it's 15 yards.

Leif Larsen who broke the record for bench press reps at the time.  He did 45 reps of 225 lbs.

I just looked him up....he's a boxer now.

I remember him for being picked 5 picks before Tom Brady.

Mine is John DiGiorgio, I loved him and remember him playing better than Poz when he was in there.

  6. I think Gaines may still be possible. He has a very specific skill set as a zone corner that is not a great fit for every team and he's had injury issues, so I'm not sure what type of interest he will receive as a free agent.

That said, if we do re-sign him, we could play Davis in the slot. He is a bigger corner with good man to man skills, which would help him there. Leonard Johnson could be #4, and then you are in a very good place depth wise.

  7. I like Bridgewater a lot, but I think if you sign him, you are signing the quarterback of the present and future. He is still really young, so he could be your guy for the next ten years. IMO, if you draft him, you punt on this year's draft class. If Bridgewater gets hurt again, you are looking to teh draft next year. He is going to go to whichever team is going to make him teh guy.

I do not think that the Bills will do that. I could see someone like Arizona or the Jets making that type of move.

if someone trades for him it means he's healthy. i think if he's healthy we need to keep him unless the offer is excellent

While I agree, I do think we are in a good position to use him to trade up for a franchise quarterback. I like Glenn, but if he could help us jump up the draft board we need to do it. The Giants Broncos, and Colts have huge needs along the offensive line. A franchise quarterback trumps all.

I thought this was a pretty good resource to see some of the names we could expect to be released over the next few months. With Beane possibly playing the comp pick game, these names could be possible targets if cut. Some names on the list have already been cut. There are a number of names on this list that likely will not get cut, but it is still really interesting to look at the dead money cap implications in one place. I'm still holding out hope for Robert Quinn at some point this offseason.

Thanks for sharing. That's a good article where Trent Dilfer explains Rosen pretty well. He is high maintenance in that he expects everyone to work as hard as him, coaches, players etc. He and Dilfer butted heads, but its really two alpha males kind of clashing. I love this guy and think he has what it takes. I can't believe that people would question his work ethic when he could technically be doing anything besides putting his life on the line. I still think there are going to be teams at the combine who won't like how he interviews, but I do think he is the cerebral, hard working type that our front office is looking for.

  11. I know we always make fun of the people who want to sign released players all of the time, but this makes sense. It's an area of need and a guy who played very little last year. The revelation of TJ Yeldon and having Fournette buried Ivory. He is older, but should be fresh. He also played for our RB coach.

Beane came out and said he would be mindful of the comp pick formula. Signing released players is how you fill out your roster without sacrificing future comp picks. I think we will continue to see Beane jump all over these types of players.

  12. I love Josh Rosen. He is the prototype, high potential quarterback we have been searching for all of this time. The guy was pretty much bred to be a quarterback with a great release, arm strength, and football IQ. 5 star high school recruit. He is also very intelligent. I honestly think his floor is Eli Manning.

Some drawbacks are that he is a bit skinny and needs to add ten pounds. He also has opinions, which the blue collar types don't like (this doesn't bother me but it rubs some people the wrong way). He has had injury issues. He also looks like the guy from "I Love you Beth Cooper."
