  1. I just think a trade down from the Giants makes too much sense. They have a good team. Their coach was terrible last year and their best player got hurt. Their offensive line is awful. Take Cordy Glenn, 21, 22. Sign Andrew Norwell, draft James Daniels or Will  Hernandez or whatever, suddenly your line is fixed. They also are transitioning to a 3-4 defense with holes in some places. Trade down, get the left tackle and fill in the gaps and this team could easily be a Super Bowl contender. Nelson could be an elite player, but the Giants have elite players, they need depth above all else.

It's probably wishful thinking on my part because I want Rosen so badly, but it seems to be the best course of action for the Giants. I think the Beane-Gettleman connection helps. For them, drafting their future quarterback makes no sense at this point. The last team to really do this quarterback grooming thing right was the Packers. They did not have 100 holes all over their team and they had an elite prospect fall in their laps. The Giants need not force the issue. They need to trade down and try to win a Super Bowl.

  2. I will say that last year it was tough to get a clue on what Buffalo wanted to do. There was no inkling of any interest in Tre'davious White, Dion Dawkins, or Matt Milano or Vallejo. We assumed there was a connection with Zay Jones, but no report of a visit. They met with Peterman and pretty much all of the quarterbacks including Watson, Mahomes, Trubisky etc. They did meet with a number of corners, receivers, and tackles. I think the days or gone where we could look at a Buddy Nix and Doug Whaley list of reported visitors and kind of narrow it down to 1-3 guys they could pick. A couple of years ago, Shaq Lawson, Reggie Ragland, Cardale Jones, and Adolphus Washington were so obviously going to be the picks. Before that there was CJ Spiller the waterbug, Preston Brown, John Miller...just so obvious.

Last year, McDermott's first and no pre-draft luncheon thing, rumors had it that the Bills wanted to trade up for Trubisky, when that was out they set their sights on Marshon Lattimore. When the trade down came together, they targeted White. We heard there was interest in Trubisky, but nothing on Lattimore or White.

In conclusion, I think they will meet with pretty much all of the quarterbacks and try to trade up for one. By the list of visitors and meetings, we can kind of see which positions they might be targeting, which players they want is probably not as clear.

.....I'm trolling, but ....you could have had that combo at 10 last year.....(Pat Mahomes)

Agreed. I thought they should have taken Mahomes there. I will say, and maybe it makes sense, that they were probably trying to move up to two for Trubisky and the 49ers told the Bears, which led to the Bears jumping them.

Also, when making these decisions they are kind of a big deal for the franchise to trade up for their quarterback for the next ten years. I think it is possible that McDermott decided to pass on that draft class, sans Peterman, until he had his own GM and scouts in place. Why would you let Doug Whaley's staff lead you to franchise quarterback? It is bad process. Now he has his true staff in place and his OC of choice as well.  This year is the year they make the move.

If it is very ordinary to be 6'5' 235 lbs. and be one of the most prolific passers in college history, then yes he is ordinary. Rudolph threw for about as many yds and tds in a single season as Peterman did in his entire career. Rudolph is 3 inches taller with a bigger frame, was top 5 in almost statistical category, and is 11th all time in career passing yds. He has also improved every year in every category. Other than their purported noodle arms I don't see a comparison.

Obviously I have no idea if Rudolph will be a success, but I don't see a can't miss qb out there.  I think they all have ? marks and are just potential still. The way people  believe wholeheartedly in someone and  completely dismiss others with such certainty is laughable.

I mean he was also in a kindergarten offense and has tiny hands, whereas Peterman comes from a pro style offense and has nearly 10 inch hands. We could looks at measurables and make a lot of arguments. I stand by my argument that Rudolph is a 3rd, 4th rounder who is basically Bryce Petty with more college experience. About a round or two better than Nate Peterman. Rudolph just happens to be big. He's not special. He doesn't move the needle at all for this franchise.

Not sure what a lot of people are seeing here. Rosen has been elite from high school, Allen has elite athletic ability and arm strength, Mayfield played at an extremely elite level in college, Jackson has elite athleticism and Darnold is seen by many as being an elite quarterback prospect. After that there is a huge drop off.

I'll probably be wrong but I am willing to bet the Bills stay put at 21 and 22 and take d line ( maybe Harrison Barnes) and a LB ( insert favorite here) we don't see a QB until round 2. Just my gut feeling.

While I certainly think that is a possibility, I do think Terry Pegula and everyone else involved want an elite prospect at quarterback. It's why they did the trade last year, to get ammo to possibly move up for a quarterback this year. A round 2 quarterback like Rudolph or the guy from Richmond just isn't getting it done. If you don't trade up, I think you pass on quarterback this year.

It’s videos like that one that had me excited about Rudolph’s potential. The mental game will be crucial for his success as he needs to overcome a less than ideal arm.

Fans get excited about Jackson and Allen’s athletic gifts just like they will be impressed by the mental side of things displayed by Rudolph. Too bad we cannot pick and choose aspects of the quarterbacks.

Go back and watch Nathan Peterman's Gruden QB camp and you will floored. He also has a lack of arm strength. I think knowledge of the game can only take you so far if your can't throw an out route.

And I agree, I wish we could take Rosen's brain and arm talent, Allen's arm strength and size, and Jackson's athletic ability and make a quarterback. Maybe Mayfield's moxie and Darnold's toughness as well. I wouldn't want anything from Rudolph. Very ordinary.

I think he's the best QB in the draft.  Has an arm like Rodgers.  Only thing I question is his football IQ?  Hard to dissect that on tape.  Assuming that is good,  i'd say trade up and pull the trigger on this guy.

I could see it. I love Rosen. I'm guessing the Bills love one of Allen, Rosen, Darnold and that is why we hear all the smoke about the trade ups.

If the Broncos sign Keenum off the market AND take a QB at 5 that could hurt the Bills. Might have to leapfrog Denver.. I was hoping they could target the Broncos pick .

I'm guessing Elway loves Josh Allen. I think we could see a Denver and Buffalo trade up to 1-2 for Allen and Rosen (like teh Rams and Eagles a few years back). Cleveland could trade back with Denver and still have 4-5...if the Colts take Chubb, which most assume, the Browns can grab Barkley at 4 and then Darnold or Mayfield at 5.

I literally don’t care what we give up. I might not even check. Just go up to 1 or 2 and get Darnold or Rosen. No matter what we give up I will never complain. I literally couldn’t care less. Get the QB. Enough already. It’s not like we can’t fill in the roster. If we traded our entire 2018 draft and oly got one of those QBs, we will still be able to field a team. Probably a better team then we have in a long time.

This 100%. Honestly, I think Terry Pegula feels the same exact way. 5th-6th best quarterback is not going to change a thing. Go get Rosen.

I really don’t think Keenum is that good. Clearly neither do the Vikings.

I think DeFellipo really loves Sam Bradford. He also saw a lot of Cousins in the NFC East, so I think they go with either Bradford or Cousins. The Keenum to Denver thing doesn't make a ton of sense, but suppose its a reasonable bridge. There are connections as he started his career with Gary Kubiak, but Kubiak jerked Keenum around quite a bit in Houston. He is obviously in Elway's ear and Kubiak has said good things about Keenum.

It does not matter the quantity but the cumulative quality.  The Bills' two first round picks are only worth the equivalent of pick 11 or 12 overall.  The Giants will be apprehensive in terms of penciling in Glenn as an 8-10 year starter given his foot issues and price him accordingly.  Your proposition will not get it done with other teams having an interest in the players the Bills might interested in.  If we were the only one moving up and somebody took your deal I would be worried that we graded whoever we got too high or are taking a classic riverboat gambler mentality.

Good points. I think when you make trades you go to the limit that you are willing to go to. I'm not sure you can be too worried about what other people are doing or really what the market value is. If you have a guy you like, you go up and get them.  It can sometimes be hard to find people to trade down with, so I think the Giants will be willing to play. Also I think you have to look at the context. The Giants are in a position where a left tackle is extremely valuable to them. Even if he winds up playing 4 more years...If you can get him for however long Eli will be around, it is a win. They can draft more linemen at 21, 22 and address their defensive change from a 4-3 to a 3-4. The Giants were a good team with a terrible line and awful depth. That depth is going to worse with the defensive change. They could fix both of those issues with a trade down and we could see them go from 3-13 to a Super Bowl. They lost their best player to an injury and lost a number of extremely close games. A trade down makes a ton of sense for them. Our GMs and coach have a very close relationship as well.

I also think that a number of teams are going to fill the quarterback position with a veteran and I do not think the Bills are one of those teams. I think this makes it easier to trade up.

I think if we trade up it will be for Rosen. I'm not sure if everyone is going to love him. I could see the Broncos, maybe the Cards, but I think both of those teams find veterans.

I tell ya, Zach Brown has gotta be one of the 10 most underrated guys in this league. Did good in Tennessee. Very good in a 34 on a dysfunctional defense in Buffalo and outstanding last year for the Skins. He'd pop off the screen alot.

He's way ahead of Preston Brown for example, yet it seems like he is severely undervalued in FA. I'd like him back.

Just cause we didn't re sign him doesn't mean there wasn't interest

He's a good player no doubt. There must be something wrong with him personality wise. There has to be some intangible that coaches don't like or maybe he's just really dumb or a bad teamate. If his friend who was tweeting on his behalf last year is any indication of the company he keeps, then I could understand why people might stay away from him.

Either that or he just wants too much money.

I agree, actually. I think he's trade-happy and doesn't have a cogent long term vision. I look at him and I see Doug Whaley redux.

Rams will have a few seasons of playoff berths, but will be decimated by inability to pay all their highly drafted stars and inability to keep replenishing the roster because Snead trades away picks.

Totally agree. They are in for a tough couple of years in terms of cap management. They will win some games, but not a Super Bowl. I think he is going to totally screw it up.
