    I also think we will have quite a bit of competition. I'm down with Cousins, but I don't see us outbidding Cleveland, the Jets, Minnesota, even Washington.  Us Jacksonville, Arizona, and Denver are all pretty much neck and neck with cap space. 

     

    I think the question is can we sell him on us? I think you make some great points, but we are going to have to woo him. That also means somehow beating out John Elway, Arizona weather, Jacksonville and Minnesota's readiness to win, the Jets and Browns $$$$. It's going to be tough to come out with Cousins. 

     

    Should have just drafted him instead of TJ Graham :(

    I know it's probably a little generous, but they need not rebuild. They can turn it around quick. Their problem was OBJ was hurt and their line was terrible. Plus McAdoo was a problem. If they shore up that o line they can make a run. That defense is going to be really good with the hire of James Bettcher. Their three win season was an anomaly in my opinion.

    It's so early but it makes so much sense for this to be a part of a trade up. Say the Giants make that trade Cordy, grab some linemen at 21, 22, they could be back in the Super Bowl next year. I know you have to grab the franchise guy when you can, but if Eli is going to play 3-4 more years then there is no need.

    Fun fact, Groy spent about a month on the Patriots roster in 2015 while Daboll was there, so there is some crossover. It's not a big connection, but they are familiar with each other and one would assume he is the type of lineman who fit the scheme.  

     

    Also, I know we all hate Juan Castillo, but if he is back Ryan Jensen would be a nice get in free agency. Jensen developed under Castillo and had a really nice year in his first year as a starter. He's 26 years old. He can also play guard. 

     

    Honestly I'd sign Jensen and have Groy. One plays center, one plays RG.

    I lean this way as well. It makes sense to draft the best position player, then take whichever QB is left at 4. They are probably going to pick the wrong guy anyway, so maybe they should let fate choose?

    Pretty much completely agree. Good stuff. I know its boring to be the guy who ignores criticism like Eli Manning, but that what I want my quarterback to be. Boring and efficient.

    That is a pretty interesting concept. Kind of taking one for the team. It sounds like sugar coating, but I do buy it to a certain extent. If he's willing to take on the criticism to protect his teammates that is pretty cool. I don't love how he responds to the criticism and it seems like it has the potential to be Ryan Leaf-like.

    For those that don't have it, PFF publishes a massive PDF breaking down all the free agents-to-be, and part of their breakdown is pairing them up with the team they believe the player is the best fit for. The exact methodology is as follows:

    Each unrestricted free agent has been given an ideal team to land with in free agency. This does not necessarily mean that each of those teams should be pursuing every one of those free agents, but rather that each of those players matches what those teams do from a schematic or stylistic point of view. Salary cap space and roster construction has also been factored in when looking at those ideal team fits, and they reflect the most sensible landing spot for each player in isolation, not as a complete team shopping list for the free agency period as a whole.

    The end result is the following list of players for Buffalo, in order of the positions listed in the guide:

    • RB Damien Williams
    • FB Derrick Coleman
    • WR John Brown
    • WR Andre Roberts
    • TE Jeff Cumberland
    • OT Austin Pasztor
    • DT Daequan Jones
    • DT Kyle Williams
    • DE Ezekiel Ansah
    • DE Arthur Moats
    • LB Bruce Carter
    • CB EJ Gaines

    Very strange list and besides Ansah, Kyle and Gaines, a lot of it doesn't make sense. Look like it was put together but someone that knows nothing about our team. 

     

    Damien Williams is just a generic backup running back. he's nothing special. You could probably get someone like him late in the draft. Williams also has red flags and was dismissed from Oklahoma when he was there. 

     

    Derrick Coleman is a fullback who is not better than Patrick DiMarco, and has been suspended for off the field stuff. 

     

    John Brown makes some sense as a deep threat, but probably not much better than Deonte Thompson. He's also had a ton of injury issues. He did have a huge year in 2015. 

     

    Andre Roberts visited here a couple of years ago and chose to sign somewhere else. He's an okay punt returner. Slight upgrade from Tate. 

     

    Jeff Cumberland is a blocking tight end who is an okay player. Guys like him can always be found in the draft for cheaper like East_West Shrine interview Ethan Wolf as an UDFA. 

     

    Austin Pasztor is a Canadian backup right tackle who was available for league minimum last summer. 

     

    Daquan Jones would be an interesting add as a depth player on the defensive line. A PSU alum who was a fourth round pick. Coming off a torn biceps. 

     

    Arthur Moats is a severely undersized defensive end who has been valuable as a rotational piece as a linebacker for Pittsburgh. He would be an awful fit in our defensive scheme at end or linebacker. 

     

    Bruce Carter was a big time free agent signing of the Bucs a few years ago. They expected him to come in and be their MIKE and be awesome. He played like crap and got benched and then cut. His defensive coordinator at the time? Leslie Frazier.  

     

    So yeah, I'm not a fan of this list. It seems like a lazy plugging of positional needs.

    I had the opportunity to work for this guy a few years ago. He's a jerk but he knows what he is doing. My concern is that he is too much of a control freak so I'm not sure a true competitive sport is really in his wheelhouse. Maybe he will hire Al Riveron? 

     

    Anyway, if he could get a hold of guys like Tebow, Kaepernick, Manziel, Greg Hardy, Mario Williams, maybe he could make something happen?

     

    I think the difference between now and before is that there is actual talent at home sitting on the streets. People blackballed or getting into trouble or just left behind. The XFL failed because the football was bad, but there is a good amount of football talent out there who have no jobs. Now is the time to strike.
