  1. Yeah I love the guy. But you will extend him at 27 years old, not a crazy amount of tread on the guy, so he should be productive. But this all just happened with his brother, who arguably had a better career up this point in his tenure. Held out, wanted a big contract, got it and lasted two years. Guy is 29 years old and out of the league. It’s just a terrible investment to make. History of running back says it and his own flesh and blood says it as well. Maybe franchise James Cook for a year or two and go from there. Davis isn’t the same guy, but when Cook was out Davis was very productive. Yards and points are just that, I don’t think it matters how they come about.
  2. Yeah I would agree. But I could see them finding a Cook-like dude this year and letting him walk next season. I love Cook, and as good as he has been, I just don’t see them paying a RB.
  3. See to me, you should never pay a running back unless they are Saquon level special. The idea of drafting one in the mid rounds every year and just churning through these guys prime years then casting them aside makes a ton of sense to me. Davis was like a 25 year old rookie. Literally plugging an older polished dude in there until he is 29-30 and never paying him is pretty shrewd.
  4. It’s Garrett all day. He gets the team over the hump in my opinion.
  5. I’d offer sheet KeVontae Turpin. 2nd round tender…I’d give a 2 for that dude all day. Speed and so dynamic.
  6. Draft one. It’s supposed to be a strong TE draft. Good role player, but 3 million is a lot.
  7. That 2021 draft is hard to look at at. Rousseau is a pretty good pick, except the fact that most media reports said we were taking Eric Stokes if he was there. Spencer Brown amazing pick. Everyone likes to talk about the Basham pick costing us Humphrey, but when you dive further, shortly after that pick some interesting guys went... Andre Cisco, Milton Williams, Alim McNeil, Paulson Adebo, not to mention the receivers who went when we felt it was a big need, Nico Collins, Dyami Brown, Josh Palmer, St. Brown...and we wind up with Stevenson. I know hindsight is 20-20 but that was a God-awful draft. And overall, outside of Shakir and Davis, you have a bunch of guys who lasted maybe a year or two. I mean I did think Justin Shorter was interesting, but a project that completely failed. And in the process, they passed on some interesting wide receivers like Dontayvion Wicks, Xavier Hutchinson, Andrei Iosivas, and of course Puka Nacua. Extremely poor evaluation when you are targeting a WR and studying these guys like crazy and you draft a guy who never plays a down for you. That's a fail. You are targeting the interior pass rush and draft Boogie in front of Milton Williams and Alim McNeil. It's just a huge failure of evaluation and projection.
  8. Love Shakir so what else will they do? Does anyone think they will allocate another 15-20 per for a top guy or are we essentially running it back with an more expensive Shakir and no Cooper?
  9. Yep, been here for all of it and just saying what I see and feel. What they did 8 years ago does not give them a lifetime pass.
  10. I like it. He's a good player and def part of the solution for sure. I just think its so funny with the Cook stuff and it being 15 a year.
  11. Respectfully disagree. Mahomes got hurt they were fine with Chad freakin Henne. Tom Brady out for the year and the Pats make the playoffs with Matt Cassell. Even the Ravens were fine when Lamar was out. I am saying this team is probably picking #1 overall if Josh was out. That's how good he is and that's how bad the roster is without him. I love the Bills, and love this team, but in my opinion, this item is not talented.
  12. Yeah, I am with you and it is the ultimate team game. But as good as the o-line was and Cook and Shakir are, take Josh out and this team maybe isn't even .500. They have not done a good job of building this thing. I know I am a hater, but I truly feel that if this regime did not luck into Josh they would be on the street.
  13. This is because of Josh. It is all because of Josh. They need to do their part to get this team to a championship because he cannot do it on his own. This team would be putrid without Josh. And that is indicative of how terrible a job these guys have done.
  14. We are going in circles with this regime. We start out by getting rid of Sammy Watkins and roll with Zay Jones, Andre Holmes and other scrubs. Then make a trade for Kelvin Benjamin because we need a #1. Then we need speed downfield so they add John Brown. Then we determined we still needed a number 1 and they traded for Diggs with a pick in a draft that featured Justin Jefferson. Then they determine we need more size etc and the add Gabe Davis. Beasley goes and they want a more explosive slot so McKenzie takes over and is awful so they find Shakir. Diggs is a drama queen, so we don't need a number 1 anymore, everyone eats in the offense where route running and precision are the key. Then they draft a guy with big upside, but struggles with route running and precision. Then they determine we still actually do need a number 1 and trade for Amari Cooper after trying like hell to get Cooper Kupp. After the season it is determined that we do not have any downfield stretchers and we need to add deep speed, oh and we still need a #1. Full circle. Conclusion...these guys don't know what the hell they are doing.
  15. So they likley made the wrong pick and now they are gonna put it on the kid to fix it. Gotcha McDermott. That's why we pay you the big bucks and you get a lifetime pass for mediocrity.
  16. That treacherous wooden staircase down from the freshmen dorms is like something out of Saw.
  17. I admire your zeal and foresight to create a thread like this. There will still be a seperate thread everytime someone gets released, but this is a great idea 👍
  18. So defense... To answer the original question, I think your number 1 goal is to get a big-time safety either Holland or Andre Cisco. There is just something about Cisco I really like. He has great ball skills and makes plays all over the place. Also multiple connections to the staff. He should also be cheaper than Holland. I wouldn't hate going down the Justin Simmons route as a stopgap guy who gives Mahomes fits. All three guys can play FS next to Rapp or Bishop making one of those latter guys a dime player. In terms of corners, I am not sure it's a really affordable route to take a big swing there. Byron Murphy is my favorite guy there, I doubt that happens. Cheaper fits, buy low types Kristian Fulton, Eric Stokes (who allegedly the Bills wanted in the Groot draft) and some people have mentioned Pats Jonathan Jones and that makes sense as well. I don't think that LB is really a need, but maybe they finally bring Shaq Thompson north for depth as the final connection to the old pipeline. I don't think the Bills get an edge player in free agency. Khalil Mack makes some sense but I think this position gets upgraded via trade somehow. There is way too much smoke around a number of edge guys and it is a need. Marcus Davenport could be a Ryan Nielsen NO guy buy low. If all else fails, I would actually take a shot on a former Schnowman teammate at Temple, Haason Reddick who should be well-rested, looking for redemption and probably wants to destroy the Jets. As other have mentioned, BJ HIll makes a ton of sense as a DT and he has those connections here as well. He has been a very solid piece wherever he has been. Spotrac has him at 2 years 18 million. Not sure they go there, but he fits a need. Hill would be a huge get. Depth guys like Kentavius Street and Jeremiah Ledbetter make sense, but they are more three techs. For a 1 tech, Greg Gaines is a stocky, thick, run-stuffing nose tackle. Gaines also has some pass rush ability and he is still just 27.
  19. I would say more. At some point when he loses some athleticism he probably reinvents himself and winds up being late career Big Ben.
  20. I find Dyami Brown interesting but it feels like he will get more than he is worth. He’s supposed to be a deep ball specialist. He’s got speed but it isn’t that elite speed. He finally came around in Kingsbury’s vertical attacking offense and finished really strong, but up until that point he hadn’t done much. Is he fit for what we perceive as a need a deep ball threat? Yes. Will the Bills actually seek out a player like that? I don’t think so. Brown does not fit the offense as currently designed. Beane and McDermott probably saw the dude play in high school down in Charlotte, so maybe they are fond of him, but I am not sure it’s the move they make.
  21. To me Oliver is not being used properly. He’s small and quick and should be used as a gap attacking 3 tech. Instead he takes on double teams and blocks to keep linebackers clean. It’s a very passive, bend but don’t break, low risk run fit type of defensive concept. And it sucks. It’s actually really dumb, especially when they are in a 4-2-5 base, funneling plays to a 180 pound corner and spilling things to slow safeties who don’t really tackle. Just my opinion based on what I see. Play to your players’ strengths as opposed to forcing guys into a passive system. Oliver should be attacking all day.
  22. Fun fact about BJ Hill, who I think is a good fit, is that his position coach at NC State was Ryan Nielsen.
  23. Don’t pay running backs
  24. Yeah KC drafts are overrated. But they and other teams have done a much better job making late first-round picks work. My issues with the Bills drafts, and I have stated this before, they reach for need in round one. Passing on guys like Tyler Linderbaum, George Karlaftis multiple other players right after the Elam pick...Cooper DeJean...we could have used Nolan Smith, maybe Sam LaPorta. Boogie Basham and Cody Ford picks cost us dearly. We picked twice in round three and passed on Maxx Crosby in 2019. They reach for need and pick the wrong players. The first round of the draft is for BPA not filling holes. Until they change their drafting philosophy, we will struggle to find blue-chippers.
