How long before we see motion in this offense tonight? It's just lineup and run the play I called. We don't shift, or do anything to make the defense adjust or have to think.
Offensive problems two fold. One we have Davis as a #2 when he is a low end 3 high end 4, and our offense has every receiver running option routes. That's why we see 2 or 3 receivers in the same area over and over. It also slows Allen down on pulling the trigger as he has to make sure the receiver is reading the defense the same way. Everyone keeps saying he is hesitant to throw and it looks like this is the reason most of the time, but not all.
Oh, ok. Both starting linebackers out, probowl corner done, probowl nose tackle out 36 year old recovering DE. Should look like they did at the beginning of the year?
We find new ways to beat ourselves. Whether it's Josh, Gabe, Knox, Kincaide. We just beat ourselves down over and over. The defense is overrated and overmatched right now and the offense and special teams aren't helping them.
Josh had the right read for what the Bucs showed. The linebacker went with Kincaid in motion which shows man 99.9% of the time, its a speed out against a linebacker which Kincaid would have been in for an easy TD. As he got to the middle of the field the LB gave quick signal and we were snapping the ball. They changed to zone in an instant, or had it set up to look like man and were always playing zone. Either way it's a quick hitter and and great play call by the DC.
So far between last night and today I've read:
1. Josh isn't taking what is given
2. Josh isn't reading the defense and locking into on guy
3. Josh is going through his progressions too fast
4. Josh isn't throwing down field enough
5. Josh isn't throwing to the underneath guys enough
6. Josh isn't running enough
7. Josh isn't taking enough chances
8. Josh is being too reckless throwing into coverage
9. Josh doesn't trust (name which player you want)
10. Josh doesn't look like he cares out there
So which is it? Maybe it's a collective effort of recievers not getting much separation, poor play design (guys in same area along and at the same level too often), and a lack of trust with guys dropping the ball or maybe not being where they should be. There is a lot of things not working right now and none of us has a clue as to how they can fix it. We just have to suffer through the ride that is the 2023 Bills.
