  1. It seems like Diggs/Allen were off from the very beginning of the game.

The 3rd down play where Allen (under pressure) just misses Diggs on a deep throw, Diggs shakes his head "no" a few times and then waves his hand in front of his face. He might've been gesturing for Josh to put more arc on the throw so he could run under it? Might've been saying he lost track of the ball in the snow? The 2nd option seems unlikely to me as Diggs made a good reach towards the ball.

Then in the 3rd quarter on this play:

    1st & 10 at BUF 12

    (1:11 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Allen pass incomplete deep right to S.Diggs.

Diggs ended his route by cutting to the sideline, but Allen threw it like Diggs was going to cut up the field. After the incompletion Josh chops his arm down in an angular motion a number of times. I'm guessing Diggs ran the wrong route there and that Allen was peeved at him.

Then of course Diggs yells at Allen on the sidelines which Allen completely ignores.

These 2 guys have had such great chemistry the last 3 years that I'd be pretty surprised if this game damages that, but it is a possibility.

  2. McDermott can't scapegoat the ST coach again, so I'm thinking it'll be Kromer. O-line was bad all year and an absolute train wreck today. Kromer would be a scapegoat that actually deserves to be fired

Frazier should've been fired last year, but if he survived 13 seconds I think he survives this. The cynic in me wonders if the Bills are hoping for him to be hired as a HC somewhere else as we would get comp picks.

  3. Far and away the best run-game coordinator out there. Only 1 season outside of the top 5 in rushing yards (his first season where SF finished 8th).

God awful in the passing game though.

Would be interesting to see what he could do with a throwing QB. If Dorsey gets a HC offer I would consider taking a look at Roman.

leads the league in int’s ?

No, Josh didn't lead the league in INTs.

Dak had 15 INT in 12 games. Mills had 15 INT in 15 games. I'm including games played to illustrate that the 2 QBs with more INTs did so in fewer games.

For OP: do you have how many of the aborted snaps happened with Morse at C as opposed to a backup ? I remember at least a few of these that did have Morse

Was half time around 3:00, add 15 minutes for half time, so 3rd quarter started around 3:15.  2nd half wasn't that bad then overall, 1:35.   2nd halves typically take more time.  Was just extremely slow 1st half.

Watching the game, not really sure why though either??

I think it was a combination of many factors

    1) Lots of incompletions

    2) Not many running plays

    3) Lots of official reviews

    4) Injuries

    5) Not many sustained drives

    6) Dolphins routinely using every second (and then some) of the playclock.

The game was taking so long that CBS even started skipping some TV timeouts!

  6. I'm somewhere between Daboll and Shanahan.

The G-men have been a joke of a franchise in recent years and pre-season expectation was probably ~5 wins. Daboll turned them into a legit playoff contender and resurrected Daniel Jones career.

Shanahan came in with high pre-season expectations, but then had his #1 AND #2 QB get injured. He now has the team setup as legit superbowl contenders with a rookie 7th rd draft pick starting for half the season.

You can rank them that way. And are simply wrong.

I've had a lot of negative reactions to my rankings, but have yet to see anyone give a reason why that's wrong. Maybe I should've swapped the 49ers and Cowboys.

    1) Cowboys: A

10 possessions: 5 TD, 4 punts, and end of game

    2) 49ers: A

    10 possession: 4 TD, 4FG , 1 punt, and end of game

    3) Giants: A

9 possessions: 4 TD, 1 FG, 2 punts, end of half and end of game

    4) Vikings: A-

8 possessions: 3 TD, 1 FG, 3 punts, turnover on downs

    5) Bills: B

16 possessions: 4 TD, 2 FG, 3 turnovers, 5 punts, turnover on downs, and end of game

Are we curving these grades based on quality of the defense we're playing against? That's the only consideration I could see for MAYBE moving the Bills up this list. It's not like Miami has a good defense.

Sorry if someone else mentioned this in the thread but there was also a significant uncalled blind side block on Milano in yesterday's game. You know the kind that caused us to lose the game against the Texans 3 years ago. Milano looked like he got hit pretty hard, enough to give himself a shake when he got up. I'm all for the officials letting them play but at least have some consistency. The contacting the kicker call on the Cinci punter in the 4th Q was an absolute joke. The Kicker totally faked it. Then the Cinci kicker tried to do it again on the next punt. Gesicki yesterday was also faking. Is there no penalty for this kind of dbaggery? Unsportsmanlike conduct?

I was getting flashbacks to Jarvis Landry on Aaron Williams.

Josh should attack apple deep - after he got toasted by Huntley I was licking my chops FOR Allen to hit Diggs or Davis deep

    Vikings ????

The Vikings only had 8 possessions and had 3 TD, 1 FG, 3 punts, and a turnover on downs.

The Bills had 16 possessions and had 4 TD, 2 FG, 3 turnovers, 5 punts, a turnover on downs, and a clock killing drive.

Vikings offensive performance was better than the Bills, and I don't think it's all that close.

Kirk throwing it short of the sticks on 4th down to end the game was hilariously bad, but I'm trying to rate their game as a whole, not just 1 play.

It's been SIX YEARS and I cannot believe we are still on this point. Tyrod threw for 54 yards against New Orleans and it made complete sense to see what we had in the rookie.

Are we talking about the Saints game that they rushed the ball 48 times for 298 yards and 6 TDs? Tyrod had a crap game but the DEF was soooooo much worse. The Bills were 5-4 after that game and in the thick of the playoff hunt. Benching Tyrod for a rookie 5th round pick Peterman was one of the worst sit/start decisions made in Bills franchise history (with the benefit of hindsight it might be THE worst).

    To get back on topic....

Letting Hodgins get sniped from our PS and replacing him with Beasley/Brown was a major mistake. Beasley/Brown almost cost us this game. In the first half on a combined 4 targets they had 0 receptions for 2 INTs and a failed 4th down conversion. THREE turnovers on FOUR targets. That's difficult to comprehend.

Beasley somewhat redeemed himself in the 2nd half, but that was not nearly enough to make up for the catastrophic 1st half.

Simms report seemed pretty thin... Calling who? Mac's brother? McDaniels? O'Brien?  I don't know but it doesn't sound like much here.  Simms isn't my style, so maybe its me, but there just isn't a lot of substance in his quote in the article.

Yea... I would need to know who he was talking to and what they were talking about.

A teams QB doing everything he can to improve and win more games is normally a good thing.

I don’t think that beane is a cross your fingers and hope type of guy

I would be happy with fourth round picks for guys like basham at this point

That's fair enough. I think this will be a very challenging offseason for Beane. With Allen's contract kicking in we're already over the 2023 cap with only 39 active roster players.

We have 4 basic routes for the pass rush

    1) Free Agency - this would require a ton of contract restructuring to bring in a difference maker. Particularly if we keep Edmunds and/or Poyer.

    2) Draft - can we really afford to allocate more draft capital to the defense? Our offense has been neglected for years and is bad outside of Allen/Diggs. If we replace those 2 guys with league average players this would easily be a bottom 10 offense

    3) Trade? - this is a tough option. We don't have extra draft capital and I don't want to trade any of our quality players. Getting mid round picks for our rotational guys isn't going to move the needle in obtaining a quality pass rusher.

    4) Stand pat and hope Von Miller returns at 100% and/or other guys currently on the roster (IE Basham, Epenesa) improve.

Personally I'm leaning option 4, but it does depend on who is available at our draft picks. I'd like to see our draft picks heavily weighted towards O-Line or WR but if there's a fantastic pass rusher there we should pick that guy. I don't think anyone would complain if we draft another Groot late in the 1st.

I am actually wondering if this is the year that we start unloading guys like boogy and Epenesa for draft picks

I'm all for unloading those guys, but what type of value would we get? I have a hard time believing we'd get better than a 4th for either of them

I think the plan for pass rush next season just needs to be cross your fingers and hope Von Miller returns to play at the level he was prior to the injury.

In the face of a literally unprecedented situation, the league landed in the right place about half an hour after things were going just fine.  By any standard, that should be the mark of a well-functioning organization.  But this social media and we need somebody to be made at, so today it's Troy Vincent's turn.

As with many scandals it's not about the actual transgression, it's about the coverup.

If Vincent had explained his actions and thought process (and perhaps apologized) this would be a non-story. His initial reaction was to follow the rule book and say the game should continue. Then, after the situation progressed and he had more discussions with Bills/Bengals/other NFL officials he ultimately agreed that the game should be postponed.

Instead he's lying about it and saying he never once said the game had to resume.

That's why this is a story and why he looks like a major asshat.

  15. I think my issue with this team is that we're not playing up to our potential. The last time we brought our "A game" on both sides of the ball in the same game was week 5 vs Steelers when we were leading 31-3 at HALFTIME.

Since then there's been a lot of up and down on both sides of the ball. There's been a few "A" performances by the offense and a few by the defense, but it hasn't happened in the same game.

NFL won’t clear Tua b/c of optics.  Think about how bad it would look if Tua gets concussed for 4th time this year.

It's not up to the NFL - the decision rests with Miami team doctors and the independent neurological consultant.

Bills at -10 though... Vegas certainly seems to think there's no chance Tua is playing and Vegas is normally right.
