Allen isn't even #1 for his teams percentage of production.  Its Mahomes by a lot.

    https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-qb-total-offense-2022

It's also a fair statement to make that Patrick Mahomes is everything to the Chiefs offense too.

Your link is total yardage though not %.

Mahomes was 77.1% of the Chiefs total yards.

Allen was 76.8% of the Bills total yards.

IMO if you replace Mahomes/Allen with a league average QB the Bills offense would suffer a lot more. I could see the Chiefs offense being around 10th best while Bills would be bottom 10.

  2. Obviously Quessenberry isn't a great player. He's a backup for a reason right?

If I'm reading Spotrac correctly he had a 1.6mm active cap hit and 1.0mm dead cap hit so we saved 600k by releasing him.

Can we really find an upgrade for only 600k ?

Seems like a good deal for everyone

    49ers turned a 2021 1st, 2022 1st, 2023 1st, and a 2022 3rd into: 2023 4th rd pick, 4 QB starts (2-2 record), and 14mm dead cap spread over the next 2 seasons.

It's probably the worst trade in NFL history. At a bare minimum it's a top 5 worst trade of all time. The 49ers have locked in their trade value and could look even worse if Lance somehow redeems his career and/or if Purdy sucks.

I think I had Sportscenter on 24/7 my entire time in college and now it's unwatchable. Very few replays and just non stop commercials.

  5. Meh

Looking at plays inside the 3 yard line is such a small sample size I'm not going to assign much meaning to it.

We had a few bad sequences that really skewed the results. Couple plays blown up by poor O-line play, couple mistakes by Josh, and voilà: our offense that was 2nd in points per game is suddenly the worst in the league at something.

How do these stats look if we extend this to plays inside the 5? What about the 10 ?

I know we had the 9th best red zone offense in terms of TD %

Shocking you want to argue but it is a special person who believes that the phantom holding with under 5 minutes and took the falcons out of field goal range with a chance at a 2 score lead was not terrible officiating, especially since they missed a clear face mask on the play.  I just looked it up and ATL had 3 times the penalty yards and 4 times the first down from penalties but you keep your narrative going.

I hate the Patriots as much as any Bills fan, but the officiating in that SB was not an issue.

    The holding was pretty blatant.

If they were going to call a face mask on that play it should've been on the ATL wideout. He ripped the Patriots defenders helmet off as he was being tackled.

edit: the play in question is at 5:50  with a replay of the hold at 6:18

Cory McIntyre (former FB) arrested for exposing his frank and berries in an old woman's window and fleeing on bicycle may be my personal favorite.

There's a bunch of the arrests in the story below as well.

    McIntyre is a good one!

That link is awesome. How could I forgot about Incognito going bat ***** insane ? And I have no memory of Donte Twitner being arrested...TWICE

    Haha

    That would be hard...

    Travis Henry

Marshawn Lynch (did that count as an arrest?)

    James Hardy

    OJ Simpson

    Do former players count?

For that matter, does arrested but not charged count ?

Ed Oliver was arrested for DWI and weapon charges but charges were dropped.

Marcell Dareus - couple arrests. Weed (synthetic) and drag racing right?

Zay Jones - jumping through windows naked while fighting his brother

Cyrus Koundijo (spelling) - didn't he have a breakdown and was wandering around near the 400? I f orget if that was an arrest or not

Was Shady ever arrested for anything ? His posse had that run in with an off duty cop in Philly. Can't remember if there was an arrest. There was also all that ugliness with his ex-GF

So the knock against Allen a couple of years ago was because he had only done it for one season, so he shouldn’t be in front of other QBs-why are the goal posts changing for Hurts? Allen was better in most statistics his 3rd year compared to Hurts. Do it for another season and then people can put him up there, but not yet.

Is Burrow really blowing people out of the water with his 200 yards and 1 touchdown a game average in the playoffs???? I understand his team beat the Bills last year and he has gone to a Super Bowl, but has he ever played exceptionally well in the playoffs?

I was arguing with some co-workers about this.

Josh has 3 playoff games (Colts, Patriots, Chiefs) that are far and away better than Burrow's best playoff game.

I think it's silly to say that Burrow is a better playoff performer just because he has a defense that actually shows up.

A lot of people’s mothers wouldn’t be ashamed with what Gruden said, just saying. Get an old lady liquored up and they are saying the same things.

People see "racist, homophobic, sexist" in the article title and go straight to "he has to be cancelled" without allowing for any leeway.

As far as the racist part goes I thought his emails were pretty mild:

"Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin (sic) tires."

    Gruden's explanation:

Gruden, speaking separately to The Athletic, said he didn't remember the specifics of the email to Allen, and that he uses the term "rubber lips" to describe someone as a liar (a possible explanation for his comment on the size of Smith's lips).

For the rest of it, looks like he was a fan of using the words q---r, f----t, or p---y as insults.

All in all I don't think this was bad enough to force him to resign. Given these were what he thought were private emails sent 10 years ago when he wasn't even employed by the NFL I thought a public apology and maybe sensitivity training would've been enough of a punishment.

My apologies if anything in the post runs afoul of this sites censorship rules.

  11. I didn't find the article to be particularly useful. I think they needed to look at what players on each team would be looking for big contracts in the 2024 season.

The only guy on the Bills is Gabe Davis. With how he played last year I don't think anyone on here would care if we let him walk. We're hardly in cap "jail" next season even though we have a lot of guys on big contracts.

The Bengals are gonna have to give Burrows and Chase MASSIVE contracts. Even if they sign at a discount they will probably be the highest paid QB and WR when they sign their deals.

I have to admit that the Chiefs have one of the best cap situations in the league going forward. MAYBE the lack of a big name WR and an aging Kelce will slow them down? I can dream anyway

    That makes sense.

so they could have in theory mugged the hell out of at least one chief player each play it sounds like according to this rule and not been penalized.

    just not two or more.

Yea, theoretically we could have had Edmunds tackle Kelce at the LOS. Taking a pretty big risk though if another player commits a penalty organically you're giving up 15 yards and no time off the clock.

    100% agree.

McDemott failed to realize that was the most critical play / call of his coaching career so far. He should have had 100% control of what was going on. It’s okay to use assistant coaches but he needed to have oversight of the entire operation on that sequence.

waste 7 seconds on one penalty?

That is a bit too optimistic. They completed two plays in 10 seconds.

I agree they should have held on both plays or at least the first. Don’t recall if there is an additional penalty for the second consecutive holding.

Either way the touchback was rendered useless strategy because they decided not to hold on the next two plays.

There's been a rule for a few years now to make it impossible to kill the clock by fouling.

ARTICLE 3. INTENTIONAL FOULS TO MANIPULATE GAME CLOCK

A team may not commit multiple fouls during the same down in an attempt to manipulate the game clock.

Penalty: For multiple fouls to run off time from the game clock: Loss of 15 yards, and the game clock will be reset to where it was at the snap. After the penalty is enforced, the game clock will start on the next snap.

  14. In order for me

    1) Preparation and game planning

    2) Defense needs to improve

    3) Offense other than Diggs/Allen needs to improve

    4) Allen/Diggs need to improve

The O-line has been a major liability and if they improve then Allen/Diggs will naturally improve as well.

The defense has been a train wreck in 3 straight playoff losses. Spare me the "they only allowed 27 points to the Bengals" argument. They gave up 30 first downs, forced 2 punts (1 in garbage time), 1 sack for 2 yards, and 0 turnovers. That's not close to being good enough to win a game.

Can you imagine wanting to fire the winningest coach in Bills history because of a fake narrative that he is not offensive minded?

I don't want to fire him (yet) and I couldn't care less that he's a defensive minded head coach.

What I care about is that his "side" of the ball has been absolutely dominated in 3 straight playoff losses, that the entire team looked woefully unprepared for 2 of those games, and that 13 seconds was an all time coaching blunder.

From what I can remember Dungy's defenses with the Colts played relatively well in their losses (other than the 41-0 loss to the Jets). I don't recall any coaching blunders like 13 seconds by him either, but it has been a while.
