I don’t disagree. All we can say on any of these guys is “we’ll see”. Not having the 4th rounder definitely factored into my reaction to this pick. Of course I’ll root for the guy’s success now that he’s on the team.
Oh good. A special teamer with a premium asset third round pick. Why do they waste second and third round picks with these guys? Who cares what Smiley wants? Use rounds 5-7 and UDFAs to get Smiley what he needs. Add him to the pile of mediocre LBs after Milano. We didn’t need another Will. We need a Mike. Back to back head scratching third round picks.
His 2022 season was defined by 2 plays (3 if you count coming back for the Steelers game a tad early) - busting it too hard on the Milano pick 6 against Tennessee and helplessly diving at Mac Jones for a sack. Both plays unnecessary and completely sacked his season.
Certainly can’t say it about all of their additions over the last few years, but I don’t question McD’s ability to identify and get the best out of his corners and safeties. He has a pretty successful track record with those positions and has earned at least that much.
For as much as we’d hate to allocate the $ to Henry, I’d bet none of us would give a damn about that come the season when he’s punishing dudes. Him and Josh in the backfield would be a sight to see.
Beane is up to something. Far too quiet with that Edmunds money freed up. I’d guess that he has another tandem signing brewing similar to Smoke/Bease and Howard/Von last few years that they’ll announce around the same time.
I’d be up for getting younger and snagging a guy like Taylor Rapp. Guy is only 25 and is a good tackler. Seems like a good replacement for Poyer. That said, if Poyer is willing to come back for something similar to what Epps got, that’s intriguing.
