Before I give my top 10, first let me say that I think CJ Stroud will be the best QB in the class. We cannot start a proper draft thread until we make our predictions there, can we?
Also, I am not here for bragging rights, I am not a pro scout nor am I a bonafide draft guru, I am just a passionate fan and draft enthusiast and I have a lot of fun in doing these things.
Anyways, here’s some guys I like in various rounds in the draft:Paris Johnson, LT, Ohio State
Broderick Jones, LT, Georgia
Dawand Jones, RT, Ohio State
Jordan Addison, WR, USC
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Peter Skoronski, LT, Northwestern
Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
Nolan Smith, LB, Georgia
Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina
Daiyan Henley, LB, Washington State
O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
Steve Avila, OG/C, TCU
Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama
Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA
Trenton Simpson, LB, Clemson
Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee
Cody Mauch, OL, North Dakota State
Kendre Miller, RB, TCU
DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Texas
Andrei Iosivas, WR, Princeton
Charlie Jones, WR, Perdue
Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa
Daniel Scott, S, California
DeMarco Hellams, S, Alabama
Jarrett Patterson, OG/C, Norte Dame
Take my list with a grain of salt. 🙂

Lewan said he would NOT play RT.
He’s old and often injured, these type of positional switches are common for players at this stage in their careers. Also, he would be playing for a legit contender, if he wants a ring, playing for Buffalo at RT is not a bad choice for him.

Buffalo goes OL in FA + trade down:
• Isaac Seumalo, RG (3yrs $34M)
• Taylor Lewan, RT ($2yrs $13.5M)

Steve Avila
OG TCU
73.
Jack Campbell
LB Iowa
91.
DeMarvion Overshown
LB Texas
130.
Charlie Jones
WR Purdue
131.
DeMarcco Hellams
S Alabama
139.
Daniel Scott
S California
205.

He is already an above average starter. If it clicks for Ed he is potentially an elite player. I'm open on him. I am definitely open to extending him, but if they can find a way to use him as a piece to upgrade the oline they absolutely need to investigate that.
If I could use one word to describe Ed Oliver it would be streaky. Occasionally you’ll see him with a nice bull rush or doing a great job absorbing double teams in run defense, but too often does he disappear. He lacks the consistency required to be considered a great DT. Like you said though, if his production becomes more steady, he has elite potential, there’s no question about that but I would not pay him big money at this point. If we could get a 2nd for Ed I think I’d take it, if not, let him play out his final year, if he elevates his game, franchise him and work out a long term deal, but I am more than ok with Jones, Settle and Phillips as our base DT rotation if we somehow are able to move Ed for picks.

I tend to agree.
Oliver, Settle and Jones are all on their last year. It's a tough situation that Beane is in.
If Oliver thinks he is getting big money due to his draft status I think he is mistaken.
Spotrac has his value at $10M and I think that's too high.
Oliver is most likely looking at a prove it deal wherever he goes, but there is a chance that he does become an above average starter if it clicks for him. He may need a change of scene and the right defensive scheme but it’s very possible.
3 minutes ago, John from Riverside said:If I am extending somebody, it’s definitely Jones
I don’t think Jordan Phillips or Tim Settle are trash either, I would extend both of them if we can. Phillips was hurt all year, I’d gamble on him for $4M-$5M a year.

Right. 2017 was great. We didn't need Patrick Mahomes. What we did need was the 8th defensive back selected in that draft.
I loved Mahomes coming out, check the archives here, I always thought that he was a lot like Brett Favre so it’s no wonder that Andy Reid wanted to draft him. I do wonder what conversations were had between McD and Whaley leading up to the draft, ultimately McD didn’t pull the trigger on Mahomes because he didn’t trust Whaley as a GM and he wanted to wait for Beane’s opinion on the matter.
I will say this, McD tried recruiting Beane to come to Buffalo for the 2017 draft but Beane opted to stay in Carolina that year. Had Beane came to Buffalo in 2017 like McD wanted, Patrick Mahomes may be our QB right now and not Josh Allen.
-
It’s almost like McD’s best draft was in 2017, when Whaley was still GM. Shoot, we did somehow manage to draft Nathan Peterman in the 5th round.
All jokes aside, we drafted Tre White, Dion Dawkins and Matt Milano that year. Has Beane been able to outdo that draft since he’s been here? Major kudos for drafting Allen, but what else has he done outside of that?- 3

Tackling technique could go a long way in preventing CTE, but sometimes hits cannot be avoided. Recognizing minor concussions and holding players out until they fully recuperate may help as well. Take Tua for example, had Miami followed proper protocol he may not be in the mess he’s in today.

This guy has near-zero trade value. While they may not have his pedigree, there’s many Olivers in the NFL. Basically a JAG and no one is going to be excited to pay him that salary.
He has crazy upside though and brute strength. He’s also very young. It’s possible it clicks for him.

awful for an LB
Tremaine Edmunds only got 19 up and he outweighed Overshown by 20-25lbs.
Also, I will say this, I am much, much, much more concerned with how much someone can squat versus how much they can bench. Furthermore, I am also more concerned by a player’s understanding of leverage and angles than I am by how much they bench. Shoot, even OHP (Overhead presses) are more important than how much someone can bench.
Overshown would be an excellent addition to Milano and Bernard, I would be legit excited by this unit if we were to draft him in RD3.

I think Buffalo should dump as much cap in 2023/2024 as possible while remaining as competitive as possible. We need to balance the books long term while hopefully accumulating as many draft picks as we can.

Overshown had a weak combine.
In what sense? He ran a 4.56 and had 15 reps on the bench.

Because he’s young
On a cost control contract
But I wouldn’t sit on my ass on this. I’d love to get Robert woods back.Speaking of cost control contracts, if Buffalo hits on a few picks at WR over the next year or two, old and expensive veterans like Diggs become expendable.

How about Gesicki as our slot guy? Could see him catching 80+ passes in this offense and would be a matchup problem in the red zone.
This is where I’m at, but trust me, you’ll probably get several dislikes for saying so, but honestly, like you said, Gesicki could potentially get 60-70 catches in this offense and we would have nearly a 100% guarantee that Josh would have a reliable guy in the slot. He fills that void that was left by Cole Beasley in his prime and wouldn’t be terribly expensive.

We need 1 more weapon imo. Don't care what/where. Improve the line and get 1 more guy
At least 1 more weapon, probably 2.

If he isn't chasing a massive contract, get it done. Beane's 2nd round picks have not been good anyways. Use this one on a player you already know is great.
Ed Oliver for Hopkins straight up! 🤣

I’d rather Buffalo put that money on a #1 WR opposite of Diggs. And to the folks saying that we shouldn’t have signed Von instead of Tremaine, you’re wrong. Von pushes the needle forward more than Tremaine ever could.

Diggs has a track record of this. He didn’t “get over it” when he was in Minnesota. Why is this different?
He talked badly about his last employer, he talked badly about his current employer, why would his next employer be any different?

No way do I take him now unless it is with a later round pick like six or seven
If he’s there in the 6th, absolutely.

If we are fantasizing I would rather get Avila and Dawand Jones and pass on Charbonnet
Yeah, dude, Avila and Dawand Jones would be nuts. Talk about adding some serious beef to that OL.
Charbonnet will be a very good bell cow RB in the NFL though, he’s a very nice prospect.

Oh, ok, so you’re the jerk and I’m nuts then? With all due respect I’ve only gone nuts one time, I just decided to stay. 😆

Ideally, we could trade down and get Paris Johnson. That’s my best case scenario.
What are you nuts? Paris Johnson? That guy is a top 15 pick at the latest, we’re talking about a dominant future LT here. Maybe and I mean maybe we could end up with Broderick Jones, but Paris Johnson? No way.

I appreciate a good Cinderella story from time to time, the fact that this man went from being a total draft bust to a successful QB is great to see. God bless him!

Could Dion Dawkins be an "elite" Guard??

He’s a good LT, doubt he would want to make the switch. He would probably force his way out because of $$$$$$.
