So yes, we have a shot every year and we blow it. We bring in nice guys with feel good stories and the one scumbag we bring in (Von) ends up being a ***** bust. Josh is wonderful, amazing, but his coach is a loser who was fired by one of the all time great winners.

 

Perhaps if the team wants to get serious about winning, we start by replacing cute stories like Damar Hamlin with actual players who can contribute. Damar seems like a wonderful man and it's beautiful that he is still alive and breathing. But pay him to be a brand ambassador or something. Don't snap the ball to him in a critical playoff moment. And while we're at it, if Tre White is brought back at his current deal then this, even more than Hamlin, shows that this is not a team who is committed to winning. If there is ANY way he comes back he needs to take a MAJOR pay cut or they can send his ass packing. Sucks that he got hurt, but he's being paid top of the line money and honestly the only Tre White play I remember from '21, '22 or '23 is him giving up one of those inexplicable catches to Garrett Wilson in the Jets game that resulted in a TD. But surely, Sean and Brandon "really believe in Tre and he's making great strides and he's a big part of this team," which means a severely compromised Tre should be back on the field by November 2024 and should probably start playing at a reasonable level by October 2025.

 

And if a player shows you who he is, like Tyler Bass, cut him yesterday. He totally showed his ass this postseason. Looked like an absolutely amateur when trying to lock-up the Pittsburgh game, and the less said about his big KC kick, the better. He doesn't "deserve another chance." He was a total drag on this team all postseason, and honestly I even question him on 13 seconds. I know he's "just a kicker" but was our entire sideline so braindead that nobody thought to ask that kicking the ball out of the end zone might not be the best course of action?

 

And speaking of that, McDermott's decision making really must be compromised. How did he look at what Sam Martin was doing the week before the KC playoff game and think that guy could punt? If it looked anything like the garbage we saw that night, McD needs his brain checked. The guy couldn't kick. And apparently his holding expertise wasn't needed with little Norwood Jr, cuz that ***** wasn't hitting the broadside of a barn in a clutch moment this postseason.

 

Or putting AJ Klein on Kelce? I thought McD was a defensive guru. I don't pretend to know football like he does, but I probably coulda told you that a recently retired, washed up, slow SOB was not a good choice to put on the best tight end in the game, but what do I know?

 

Next year we won't have 12 men on the field in a critical moment or play the sidelines against a team down three with three timeouts. Surely we won't have our all-world QB leave the field with a lead multiple times to lose to the absolute dregs of the league. We won't come within a hairs breadth of losing to Easton Stick. Von Miller is totally gonna show up. And Greg Rousseau will become a game changer. And Ed Oliver will show up in the playoffs.

Agree with you about everything except Tre White. The dude spent the time he came back in 2022 still trying to recover completely and didn't quite get there. He appeared to be fully back or as close to it as he possibly could be this season before he went down again. You make it seem like he showed no signs of improvement whatsoever. There was a big difference between the small bit of Tre we had this year as opposed to what we had in 2022. And I do think he will be back in training camp next year as he should be. At the current contract he is at? Maybe not. But he should be here

Bills couldn’t stop shooting themselves in the foot in many games this year, lost their best defensive player early in the season. Had a high priced defensive player who will likely only be on the team for one more season basically be a no show for the entire year, found themselves at 6-6 and still ended up with the 2 seed. 
 

All signs point to the Bills being perennial contenders. If ever there was a year for the Bills to miss the playoffs or be one and done in the playoffs it would have been this year .

We shoot ourselves in the foot more than any other team I have seen. We haven't lost a game by more than one score since 2021. It's literally been a play here or play there and had we done a couple things differently, we could beat teams by 2 scores every week. Imagine if we played a clean game nearly every single time. We would be unstoppable. It annoys me when I see us only up 6-3 and we have 2 mistakes in the red zone and a missed field goal and I'm always saying, this could be a 21-3 or 17-3 game right now. It's so frustrating

Never went to one but both my buddy and I were gonna max out our credit cards to go to see the Bills in Tampa back in 2020 if they made it. Me and him talked about it going into the AFC championship game against the Chiefs. We all know what happened and we didn't make it but I was all set to throw close to $5000 on my card to attend. It would have been a once in a lifetime experience

You do realize pre Brady he was a failure as a Browns head coach, right? He went 36-44 in 5 seasons there with 1 playoff season and post Brady he hasn't had any success either. And Parcells was the HC of those 2 Giants Super Bowls. The Bills would have won if they weren't so stubborn about their game plan. Belichick himself said that they invited the Bills to run the whole game and the Bills chose not to. When they did, Thurman went for 135 yards on 15 carries. Imagine if he gets 25 or 30 carries. We get a Lombardi. The Bills stubbornness is not something to give Belichick credit for

Also lot of people forget that Brady wasn't putting up astronomical numbers early on his career when he won his first 3 superbowls with the Patriots. Those teams were all about defense and special teams leading way which is why it's silly to discount Belichik and how much of a factor he truly was during his illustrious coaching career.

Not really. Tom Brady during those first few Super Bowls was like Montana and Bill Walsh. Walsh was a good coach but he doesn't win Super bowls without Montana. If Belichick had any other QB, he would have been lucky to win one or even go to one in that time frame. Just how it is.

"13 seconds" probably took me a full month to get over, particularly with Allen playing the perfect game, but still coming up short, etc.

 

This year, I thought I had digested the game after only a couple days; I thought it hurt exponentially less 

 

The difference is, with this year's loss to KC, even though I did not obsess over it the way I did in 2021, when I did think about it, it would hurt more... and more... and more... as time went on.

 

That's because as time passed, it became more evident that this was an even greater missed opportunity than 2021.

 

• We were at home against KC.
• There was no Cincy in the playoffs.
• We got uncharacteristic breaks during the game.  The Hardman fumble was something that never happened for the Bills.  
• We were in the best position to do exactly what you'd think we would want to do after spending two years waiting to have this opportunity again(!!!) We were doing precisely what we must have learned from "13 seconds" which is kill the clock and give Mahomes as little time as possible if/when he ever does get the ball again.   8 minutes remaining when we start the drive at our own 25, and before you know it, had it down to 2 minutes left at the KC 26.  Diggs is running by himself wide open for an easy catch that would almost certainly continue this pace, but Shakir is open in the end zone too, and that's the decision Allen would make in that moment. Writing that out is painful.  Ugh.   Anyway, it's old news, right?  Yeah, and that's the point.  As it becomes increasingly clear that we missed an even bigger opportunity, thinking back on this game is associated with an increasingly sh*t feeling as well.
• And then, once the Ravens lost with apparently the "same old Lamar" it was very clear to me.

 

This should have been the year of the "Berman Special" (SF vs Buffalo).

 

It's a strange feeling, because, unlike 2021, it is not something I necessarily dwell on, but when it does come up and I flash back to the dreadful  2nd and 9 play, I want to go punch a wall. 

 

It's also a strange feeling because, also unlike 2021, I am already looking forward to the next season with anticipation and excitement (in 2021, I wasn't ready yet, and I was turned off by all the hype and expectations for the Bills going into the year; I did not think it would help us at all). 

 

Anyway, the real question is where does Allen go from here?  How did Allen take this loss in comparison with years past?  Does this add more fuel to the fire (like we all hope) so he works his ass off wanting a Super Bowl more than ever?  Or does this have some cumulative effect where it becomes exhausting after a while, after telling himself, "We are going to get better from this" over and over, only to find himself right back to where he started at the end of the day?  I get the impression that Diggs feels something like this.  And I really hope Allen never gets to that point, because we need him to be as hungry as ever.    Side note...let's get him that young dynamic WR in 2024.  Anticipation of a "rebooted" young offense is what has me amped up already for 2024  (something I did not feel nearly as much after 2021).

 

Basically...from my "fan" perspective, I now know this year has made me want it even more because it ultimately hurts more and also served as a reminder that our playoff window is always open, unlike last season where we got smacked around for four quarters and went into the off-season looking like a broken team which had people not only betting on the window being closed, but predicting the 2023 Bills would miss the playoffs altogether.

 

I just hope the Bills feel the same.  And I hope they use that feeling to drive them next season.  The loss to Cincy seemed to have an unhealthy residual effect on the team, but I hope this latest loss to KC just pisses everyone off.   

 

 

No way. 13 seconds took me a long time to get over. I was over this loss to the Chiefs within a couple days. Maybe it's because I've learned to not get my hopes up. But I've been over it for a while

The rest of their draft was not much but these 4 guys were amazing, particularly Gibbs and LaPorta. I think LaPorta could become another Kelce type dominant TE for years.

 

It sure would be amazing if we could find 4 guys who could step right in at Saftey, WR, LB and DT draft this year.
