  1. Message board muscles I've seen. Message board money I've seen. Message board sexual accomplishments I've seen. First time I've seen message board pillar of the community. He may very well say the right things. He sometimes does. Let's see how he acts. I hold you to the same standard.
  2. Thanks for the running tips Coach. If he wants to heal the divide, I applaud it. But he drives the wedge deeper every day. He's not the only party with a sledgehammer but he would need to lead on this issue instead of making the situation worse.
  3. Trump to discuss healing the divide and unity in the SOTU. Someone else must have written the speech.
  4. Nope. She condemned Eichman but captured the banality of his evil, which is hard to accept but easy to see in practice.
  5. Depends on what you call socialism. China is not in ruin. Don't confuse me with a China advocate, but just noting it. Many EU countries are doing well (not ruinous) with what most would say is a form of socialism. I'd say that one of the only things we've not truly tried is laissez faire capitalism. Almost all the more successful countries (now) operate on some sliding scale between utopian capitalism and utopian socialism.
  6. Hannah Arendt On Why It's Urgent To Break Your Bubble
  7. As little as it was, yes. But Trump had the experience of getting eyeballs to watch him and only got better at that as the spotlights intensified.
  8. Why? Obama was an inexperienced politician when he won, and not a particularly effective leader once he won. That doesn’t make any difference as to my opinion of the guy you want to represent.
  9. Trump was an annoying party horn before (during and while serving as) president. That was my comparison. He did much more than her before she was elected, but that's a low bar.
  10. She's a party horn. Making noise and getting attention but annoying as *****-all. She hasn't done anything yet. Worked for Trump but I don't see AOC following him. Agreed.
  11. The WSJ does OK. Economist too. Maybe a few others but none of the cable networks are worth watching unless there's some breaking news story...and not the BREAKING NEWS chirons, but actual breaking news as in the kind that happens once every 3 years. For certain exposes, WaPo, NYT, and Washington Times write some good things. But as the old print media had to transition to competing with the cable news and Internet eyeballs and attention spans, they've gone for sensational over harder and more boring facts. The NYT took the biggest plunge. It was always left-biased but now it's flat embarassing and you have to dig around to find the good stuff, which is still in there on occasion. Perhaps the worst thing to happen to media outlets is the story about Twitter reactions to news...like that's news. Gaaaaaaaaaah!! Twitter reporting is so dubious. It's mostly just echo chambers.
  12. If I wanted to build a team long term, I'd take Mayfield over Barkley because of the position and longevity, but there's no doubt that Barkley is going to be amazing for a while. He's a special back.
  13. And in the decade since this came out, it's only gotten so. much. better. The world is getting better.
  14. Are you really quoting highly placed agents of the Deep State at PPP? Good luck with that.
  15. My wife loves him, but I feel like his whole monk-like story runs the risk of popping in an ugly way. I'd be surprised if he won the D primary. He is the glam candidate.
  16. Dem Bracketology. Who will be the 1-seeds and who's the sleeper? One seeds: Booker Harris Warren (Biden) Sleeper: Beto (not really a sleeper but I don't see him as a #1)
  17. I meant it as a compliment. You were telling me to be better.
  18. Unless someone uses their actual name on here (ahem), they deserve their privacy.
  19. My comment was about him thinking that we care about his identity, which was the subject of his post. I appreciate anyone who tries to make this a better place and applaud you calling me out.
  20. Paul Krugman, scared not just of Schulz, but the center.
  21. Get over yourself: No one cares who you are.
