He played good tonight, if I'm wrong. I'll be fine with it. It has nothing to do with that, it's more so that I don't believe in him.

If you do, go for it. That's your perogatove to believe in a guy with one of the worst halves in history.

It has nothing to do with me being right. I didn't start hating on him when he was picked. I started hating on him when clowns, which you were probably part of ICP, started believing he was better than Tyrod because of preseason. Then when he was mistakingly given a start, the ICP, nor the coaching staff could admit they were wrong. I see this as doubling down on it.

I hope I'm wrong. He played great vs what he faced tonight, but I'm not really believing in that.

He's not better than Tyrod. Last season served as accurate of an experiment as you could have to test that theory.

I’m not a Peterman guy. I’m hoping AJ or Allen start the season, BUT, c’mon man, you’re writing off Peterman for his rookie start, on the road, against an elite pass rush, in which his only legit target gets hurt 3 plays into the game, half our OL seemed butthurt over Tyrod getting benched and guys like DiMarco were handing the ball to the other team.

  2. I disagree that the Lee throw shouldn’t have been made.  He can make it.  He made it.  It was accurate and only where Lee could catch it.

I didnt think the OL was terrible but he should’ve had a couple more completions and, perhaps, another TD.   That would be very similar to Baker’s outing, which is being lauded as the most incredible debut ever by some.

Thing is, Baker was out there with two of his top targets in Callaway and Njoku.   Allen had Ray-Ray, Foster, Croom and Lee.

  3. I’m a Cuse fan and watch a lot of ACC Football, and Ray-Ray McCloud never stood out to me at Clemson.  Not a bad player, just never seemed to be a “wow” guy.

(IMO) Last night put him way ahead of everyone else looking for that 6th spot.  It’s only one game, and lets see how he backs it up, but he looked like he belonged out there, especially since it sounds like Daboll has been using him like a Tyreek Hill type in practice.

The thing that stood out to me was Josh Allen's ability to escape the rush.  Even when defenders got hands on him, they couldn't seem to bring him down.  It was very similar to what Ben Roethlisberger and Cam Newton bring to the table.

On the night, there were at least 2-3 "wow" throws from Allen.  The zip and placement on that touchdown was impressive.  I know that people were always impressed with EJ Manuel's physical abilities too, but I don't ever remember being wowed by anything he actually did on the field.

Quite a few of Allen's incompletions were the fault of his receivers.  Either drops or poorly run routes.  Between the sieve of an offensive line, and the awful play of his receivers - you have to wonder how Allen would look with the 1st or 2nd team.

I don't think you can fault Allen too much on the 4th down play -- simply because it was 4th down.  He was trying to make something happen and there was nothing to lose.  Now if he does that on 1st-3rd down, it's another story.

I thought Allen was impressive, especially given the OL and WRs he had to work with.  His stat-line and perception looks a lot different if Foster makes that TD grab.  The media would have that “should’ve been” TD throw on a loop all day.

That being said, he cannot do what he did on that 4th down play.  It was tipped up and almost picked, which would’ve led to a convoy of Panthers going the other way.  With how good our defense should be, we can’t be spotting teams TD’s like that.  It’s ok though, rookie moment and he should be able to learn from it.

If you came out of there unimpressed by Allen you didn’t watch the game. I was with some Steeler fans and they were blown away. The one guy was all fired up yelling at us “how can you not love this guy?!?” He was fantastic. Allen is a great athlete, with a cannon. He made 4 or 5 throws in that game that no one other than Aaron Rodgers can make. I’m excited to see him play with Corey Coleman so he can run under those bombs.

I was honestly thinking the same thing.  Only player I’ve seen make the rope throw to Ray-Ray and the TD to Ray-Ray like that, is Rodgers.

  6. As much as I'd love Mack on our team, this year, I agree with those who say we're fine there with Hughes, Murphy, Shaq and Eddie.  I think the smarter move, if there's truly one coming, is for a LG/RT or improvement at WR/TE.

Now if Oakland is out-leveraged and we can get Mack for a player and pick....that's not to say I wouldn't be all in on that move.

I think the Browns fans who say this was a good move for them are just trying to justify it to themselves, or do t really follow football. It wasnt a salary dump like Dareus. They have plenty of cap room and he was on a cheap deal. It was a move to maybe make room on the roster for someone else or to move him because he didnt fit their system. And of course theres risk for the Bill's in it, you dont get former first round picks on their rookie deals for a late pick if they dont have a blemish or 2. Coleman seems to be an injury risk and hasnt shown what he was expected to be able to do in his 2 years in the league. The Browns have been known for giving up on early picks quickly though.

I also wouldn't really go by the comments of a browns fan, can you really trust their judgement? They did chose to be a fan of the Browns........

It’s equivelant to us trading away Shaq Lawson for a 2020 7th Rounder.

Some here would justify it.  People would bad mouth Shaq.  Most who know football would criticize it as getting rid of a talented player (albeit underwhelming so far) on a cheap rookie deal.

This thread has become delusional....oak is making a move to Vegas and needs star players....Mack is just about as a good as it gets for star power on defense

I put the odds he gets traded very low, but he still hasn't reported and even Oakland reporters are starting to mention the word "trade".

The player john gruden would want in return is probably trent Murphy remember he played in Washington and I remember john talking up about Murphy on Monday night seems like a gruden grinder plus throw in one of the young tackles McDermott or Wesley maybe jordan mills and 2019 1st

Trent Murphy and our 1st..... I make that trade in a second.

Mack replaces Hughes and is a better, younger player.  So is it worth giving up Shady and the 1st?  Shady is not going to last forever.  Getting a little long in the tooth - 30 years old with a lot of mileage.  Maybe he's got one good year left.  And let's not forget the potential legal problems he might face.  So now, is Mack worth that 1st is the only thing to argue.  I think he's the NFL Defensive or overall MVP for several years to come and he wants to be here.  How often does that happen?

If you replaced Jerry Hughes with Shaq Lawson, I'd be tempted.  I'd be extremely concerned with our offense if you take Shady away, but it might be too hard to pass up.  However, if that's what it takes, along with next years 1st, I'd be willing to move on that but want to see a year or two of Mack with Hughes, not Mack instead of Hughes.

Shady and Hughes are on the other side of the hill.  You think there is anybody in next years draft better than Mack?  Sorry.

There may or may not be anyone better than Mack in this upcoming draft but you're advocating trading 2 of our best players and a 1st and handing out a huge contract over keeping 2 of our best players and drafting an above average pass rusher in a deep DE draft, on a rookie contract.

Just wanted to drop in here say LOL @ anyone suggesting that a 2nd rounder and Shaq (or anything similar) could get us Khalil freaking Mack.

I'm all for acquiring him, as I believe he's one of the top 3 pass rushers in the league, but....if we do that, we're not getting him for less than a 1st round pick plus something else. We're just not. It might even take TWO 1sts to pry him away from Oakland. He's not "just another guy". They're not gonna give him away for peanuts.

It obviously depends on the Raiders openness in moving Mack, but, if they’re willing, two things work against them.

1). He needs to get PAID. Giving up two 1sts AND turning around to immediately tie up massive cap space in a non-QB is bad business for anyone.

2). This draft is loaded with DL talent.

Everybody wants perfection from Allen, but he’s making throws that these receivers have never before seen or thought possible. They also need some time to figure out how to catch his passes. It’s possible they give up on a route because no other QB they’ve played with was able to make the throw necessary where they are on the field. Once they figure it out though, they could be dangerous. This is why he needs time with the 1s. They’ve got to figure him out too.

This quote is blowing my mind.
