  1. Bad sack aside, 2nd half adjustments have been rough for this team for several years now. Always seems like every team just gets better against us after half.
  2. I thought everyone said it was Dabol that was the problem, now it's McDermott. Maybe Star was more meaningful to the line than people gave him credit for, and the injuries really matter. It sucks to watch, but the sky isn't falling yet.
  3. People like you are so sensitive, it's mind boggling. I feel like you'll have a nervous breakdown the next time Allen gets criticized for anything. "Trashed the kid," how? Show me one post where I "trashed" him for anything he didn't do. Please, go ahead. You do realize he's not going to go 16-0, and will likely have more bad games right? What happens then? You going flip out on anyone who talks about it? lol
  4. Only 68.57% passing this week... So you're telling me his accuracy dropped 3% this week? At this rate, he'll be hitting less than 30% of his passes by the end of the year! PANIC!
  5. It was the old Bills tradition!
  6. Actually ESPN says this: Josh Allen is an MVP candidate You guys. Seriously. Is Josh Allen, like, really, really good? He came out of Sunday's lightning delay in Miami as if he'd been struck by lightning and gifted with enhanced superpowers. Allen finished the day 24-for-35 passing for 417 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions for the 2-0 Bills. Allen is the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 700 yards and at least six touchdowns without an interception in his first two games. The others are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, who have combined to win nine MVP awards. The verdict: NOT AN OVERREACTION. There has never been any doubt about Allen's physical gifts. The questions about him have been about accuracy and consistency -- whether he can improve the former and maintain the latter. He still seems to do one or two things every game that make it look as if he's playing his first game ever, but so far this season he has been as impeccable as anyone in the league. On paper, Buffalo has the best roster in the AFC East by far. Coming into the season, the only major question mark was Allen. If he has truly taken a major step forward and can maintain this level of performance throughout the season, he's in the discussion, because the Bills are going to win a lot of games.
  7. I came here just hoping to see people talking about this play. Was not disappointed Seriously, missing open guys who have their man beat has been one of my biggest frustrations with Allen the past 2 years. Plays like this (and others he made today) show he has DEFINITELY improved in this area. And no, it's not just more talent around him...he himself has improved.
  8. Hey wait lol, I give Allen credit plenty, just as I am critical when I feel he should be criticized. If I was trying to unfairly twist the plot, I'd just say what a friend of mine said today & claim "all Allen needed was a great offensive line, a great receiving corps & a top 3 defense to be good...gee, I wonder if other QB's would excel with that setup?!" But no, this year Allen has shown a lot of improvement in one of his weakest areas (which he EARNED the criticism for), his passes 15 yards or deeper down field. The amount of times I've smiled today watching game highlights has been insane. I still am grinning thinking about the TD pass to Brown at the end. So ALL the credit in the world to Allen for making those passes.
  9. Really hoping with Diggs on the team, Brown gets more of the recognition he deserves. Even with Josh struggling on deep passes all year and being our primary focus, he still showed he was WAY more than just a speedy deep threat. With Diggs taking away some of the pressure, it could really open up Brown for a career year.
  10. Ah, I see. Well there will always be those who personally invest themselves so much in an invidividual player that they take everything other than sheer praise as a slight, or can spin anything into a personal attack on their favorite player. There used to be a few posters around here who were DIEHARD Tyrod defenders....game after game, no matter how miserable he played, and if you so much as laid basic evidence out as to why he was the main issue, they went on a crusade against you lol. In regards to Josh, people should just understand there is going to be criticism of him while he plays like this. We take the bad with the good, not disregard all the bad & pretend it's ALL good. I mean in another thread about Diggs, I complimented how clutch he was & how impressed I was with his ability to hang onto the ball even after big hits, but since I said something like "even if Josh was to somehow flame out, Diggs would still be worth everything we traded for him," some guy got all pissed off & called that personally attacking Josh 😂 I mean... I didn't even say one critical thing about the guy. I was saying absent of the current QB, the massive amount of picks we invested to get Diggs + what we're paying him is worth it, so in a worst case scenario we aren't stuck with some highly paid player that falls apart without other pieces around him. Diggs is good independent of other factors. That's it. But damn will people get offended if you even speak a hypothetical about Josh lol
  11. Yeah, I remember him having 300+ yards passing in one game but getting sacked a ton, but in the first game we played them, they really handed it to us in the first half. At that point I think they were 0-5 or 0-6, and they came to Buffalo & really shocked everyone with their level of play. I remember the fans booing the team as they came off the field at half time, and everyone was shocked the 4-1 Bills were blowing it to what was at that point the crappiest team in the league. So I'll never take them lightly, or any team for that matter. I think we beat them in the end, but I'm not looking past them is all.
  12. Just gotta hope Fitzpatrick doesn't have one of his stupid, out-of-nowhere where he's just throwing TD's left & right while running all over the place like he's Kyler Murray. If our defense can play disciplined like usual, should be a win.
  13. Tbh, I have highly reduced the amount of time I spend on the boards in the offseason, so I'm not up to date on what individual posters say that often. People get really sensitive if I criticize ANYTHING Allen related, but since I know you since way back on the official Bills boards, I'll take your word for it. There's things Allen deserves critiques on, but there are certainly people who will take any opportunity to dismiss anything he does well just to prop up the negatives.
  14. Tell me where I trashed Josh? Damn, people are so sensitive & thin skinned on these boards 😂
  15. 100% agree. I'm even guilty of this to some extent, though more often with other teams than the Bills. However, I genuinely didn't notice the impact Oliver had most of yesterday. That's on me, but I was hoping I'd see people in this thread point out what he did or maybe post some articles breaking down his play if any existed. Was not expecting people to turn it into a Josh Allen thing or anything. But yeah, stat sheets don't tell the whole story, so glad to hear Oliver's play was felt even without the numbers.
  16. Criticizing players for playing poorly or making bad mistakes isn't worthy of a ban, temp or otherwise, regardless of if we like the opinion or not. Josh deserves flack for that pass (and some other misses), but deserves all the praise in the world for the others he made. That's just par for the course being an NFL QB.
  17. Fair enough. People really should be able to discuss these things without taking them so personally. Bringing up Allen is irrelevant to the conversation you're wanting to have as well. Honestly, I didn't notice Oliver much at all yesterday, but hey, that's what posts like this are for right? Others that break these things down can tell us if there were thing we missed that just don't show up on the stat sheet.
  18. Agreed. That was an issue last year as well. Even on the few deep passes Allen connected on, the ball placement usually didn't allow for much more than the catch itself. But if he can place passes to these targets that allow them to rack up YAC, this offense will become exponentially more dangerous.
  19. Diggs impressed me way more than I thought he would. He didn't have monster numbers or anything, but 8 receptions on 9 targets is HUGE, and his ability to hang on to the ball even after taking those punishing hits was eye-opening. If that's what we get on the regular with Diggs, the trade was worth everything we gave up & then some. Even if Josh was to just flame out (not saying he will), Diggs being around is a huge help to the offense no matter who's behind center.
  20. Dumb/Funny Posts: 1. "I'll give him credit for being a bad QB on a good team with a good coach" - HawkeyeJet (7,914 Reputation) 2. "No. He doesn't have Gase for a play caller." - TNJet (6,972 Reputation) 3. "On a bright note C19 May shut the season early. Week two would be good." - BurnleyJet (8,109 Reputation) 4. "I'm not a believer in Josh Allen. I think he's garbage and today has done nothing to change that opinion. But today he far outplayed Sammy and Sammy should be VERY concerned about that." - NYJ1 (1,247 Reputation) 5. "I'll give him credit tomorrow. Until then the Bills can go f*** themselves. And so can the Jets." - Spoot-Face (17,720 Reputation) He's getting some decent credit, but damn if I don't feel a little for Jets fans right now. Some of those posts remind me of those on the boards during the 17 year playoff drought... Still a relief we're not at that point anymore.
  21. Very good & concise breakdown of what I viewed out there as well. I hate the fumbles, especially the really silly & completely avoidable ones, but the missing wide open guys burns me up even more. This offense has the potential to really put the pressure on opponents, and for once, the Bills seemingly have a QB capable of taking advantage of the league's cushy QB rules geared towards passing offenses. After a decade+ of the shift towards being a passing-focused league, the Bills finally have the ability to rise to the occasion. Finding the open man, hitting downfield passes, and getting rid of the ball quickly will make this team a threat no matter who they're up against. Only now, we actually have the personnel to make this into a regular thing. Our O-line provided a ton of time for Josh to sit back in the pocket as well. Going back & watching highlights made it even more apparent how high the ceiling really is for this offense if Josh continues to develop the way we need him to.
  22. It makes sense with the defense we have, but yes, our offense not being able to do anything after the 2nd half kickoff doesn't look good. However... In all fairness, the Bills had one of the worst success rates on opening drives last year anyway. Our 1st quarter offensive output was really not that great overall, but our opening drives didn't often to lead to TD's either. So even if we elected to receive, it's just as likely we'd end up punting as we do getting the ball first to start the 2nd half.
  23. This fanbase's tradition of assigning all blame to every OC that the Bills employ is growing quite tiresome. Everything good on the field = players. Anything bad = OC. Even in games where we see some amazing play calls that are just screwed up by poor execution (wide open men downfield who drop passes, over/under thrown, fumbles, etc.) still the blame goes to the OC. Hell, I remember several years ago when Tyrod was the QB, playing the Pats in the 2nd game of the season, and seeing so many brilliant play calls that left Bill Belichick's defense scratching their heads... but Tyrod was throwing bad passes, afraid to pull the trigger, or someone would commit a meaningless penalty ruining the momentum. But after the game, it was all blame the OC! Even though the only reason we were in that game was the OC's excellent game plan giving us every opportunity to target the opponents' limited weaknesses with our limited & inferior offense. Not saying there's never blame to be assigned, but if this fanbase had it's way, we'd be shuffling new OC's in & out every year, or several times a year.
  24. He should've had what, 4 or 5 easy TD passes today though that he just missed? At this point I feel like it's just par for the course for Allen. You need him to run to keep the defenses humble & helps open it up for easier passing plays for him throughout the game. The defense has to see he's going to be used as a running threat to keep them honest, but at the same time you're right, can't just keep taking huge hits all game. Josh also needs to learn how to scamper better, slide, drop to the ground before taking hits or just get out of bounds. There's times he could either go down earlier, protect himself better or even just give up on a failed play sooner. I feel like only letting him run on broken plays will not go well. But yes, we need to find a way to ensure he's not KO'd out of a game or seriously injured.
  25. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2020-nfl-week-1-picks-and-odds-saints-stomp-bucs-panthers-upset-raiders-jets-stun-bills/amp/ " Jets at Bills Sunday, 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Point spread: Bills -6.5 There are four rules that I live by: never get less than 12 hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city, never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body and when the Jets and Bills play you always smash the under. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese. But seriously, take this under no matter how low it goes. And take the Jets if you need to in a pick 'em league. This is too many points. Sam Darnold is better than Josh Allen. There I said it. The Pick: Jets 17, Bills 14" Yeah... that surprises me, but I get what he's saying about taking the under.
