Democrats embrace nazi roots

Do you honestly believe that centralized government equals socialism? That all centralized governments are the same and come from the same roots? -

After taking control of the party and the country, Hitler murdered the leftist leaders of the party. Therefore, he’s a leftist. I’m beginning to think that maybe conservatives are right when they think education is broken. But maybe not for the reasons they claim… -

WTF is your fascination with libertarianism? I have not talked about it, I have not made accusations about it, but you keep lying about my views on it. Can you not read? Are you not a native English speaker? Do you believe that there is only one singular outcome of political extremism for a political ideology? The reason that I do not believe the Nazi party was socialist is that soon after Hitler took over, it took a hard right turn and then removed any remnants of socialism from the party. While it may have retained its original name, it did not retain any semblance of socialist ideology once Hitler was in full power. -

I see you like to just make stuff up and chastise people for not believing in your fantasy world. You clearly have no idea what socialism is but have bought into the propaganda hook, line, and sinker. Not sure how anyone can choose to be intentionally and willfully ignorant in this day and age, but here you are. Yeah, basically. On the left you see people supporting government control as a means to help the people and that devolves into authoritarianism. On the right it’s often to punish the out-group but can result in the same sort of authoritarianism. -
The democrat party: Abortions and pot.
ChiGoose replied to Unforgiven's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Has anyone on this site ever actually met a democrat? This thread is like mainlining right wing talking points. If you want to know what democrats actually believe in, maybe consider asking democrats what they believe in. -

Dude, I never said you were a nazi and I never claimed libertarians were nazis. I don't know how you came to that but i guess maybe reading is not fundamental after all. I don't think everyone on the right is a nazi and I don't think everyone on the left is a socialist. In fact, very very very very few people in America are nazis or socialists. On the spectrum of extremism, communism/socialism are the extremes on the left, while fascism (and probably juche) are the extremes of the right. When you get to the far extremes, your see a lot of similarities that give some credence to horseshoe theory but it doesn't mean that every type of authoritarian government is the same or originates from the same roots. But the idea that the party run by the fascist Hitler that leveraged crushing socialists to gain support from the business class and had an event actually called The Night of Long Knives in which they literally murdered the party members who supported socialism (Strasserists), including one of the founders of the party, is somehow socialist because their name includes socialism is absolutely ludicrous to anyone with a modicum of understanding of history. If you believe that the Nazis were socialist because the name includes socialism, then I guess you believe that North Korea really is a democratic people's republic. -

"Everyone I don't like is a transgender nazi socialist groomer" -Serious individuals What a joke. If you want to point out the dangers of extremism on the left, there are plenty of actual factual real life examples. But the mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging crowd has to go to Nazism even if the claim is laughable because the ability to have critical thinking was beaten out of them by their propogandists years ago. -

I gotta start some conservative grifting. These people will believe just about anything. Anyone want to buy some Trump Bucks? -

No, you’re just simply ignorant. The name says it is a Democratic Republic so therefore it *must* be a democratic republic. I will now assert that you are wrong and refuse to engage in any of the facts involving Congo other than the name of the country. /s (obviously) -

What does Democratic People’s Republic of Korea mean? It’s almost unbelievable that you would just believe whatever a dictator says without question. -

Questions for people who honestly believe that the Nazis were socialists: What was the Deutsche Arbeiterparteir (DAP) founded by Anton Drexler? Did Hitler support Rudolf Jung's suggestion to add "socialist" into the party's name? Who were the Strasser brothers and what became of them? What was the Night of the Long Knives and who was targeted? To be honest, I do not understand how, with all of our modern knowledge and technology, that anybody could honestly believe the Nazis were socialists, so I'm mostly just curious as to what drove people to that conclusion. -

Non-sequitur aside, I’m not going to deny that many liberals are wrong and dumb (look at the pro-Hamas protests by morons). But it’s an especially ignorant kind of dumb to believe that the Nazis were socialists. If someone will believe that, you can probably convince them of anything. -

Yes, famously Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson are exactly the same and that’s why nobody cared about Chicago’s mayoral election and it didn’t get any national coverage and definitely wasn’t talked about here. -

When did I say that Nazis were similar to libertarians? Here’s a better article: Were the Nazis Socialists? “Over the following years the brothers Otto and Gregor Strasser did much to grow the party by tying Hitler’s racist nationalism to socialist rhetoric that appealed to the suffering lower middle classes. In doing so, the Strassers also succeeded in expanding the Nazi reach beyond its traditional Bavarian base. By the late 1920s, however, with the German economy in free fall, Hitler had enlisted support from wealthy industrialists who sought to pursue avowedly anti-socialist policies. Otto Strasser soon recognized that the Nazis were neither a party of socialists nor a party of workers, and in 1930 he broke away to form the anti-capitalist Schwarze Front (Black Front). Gregor remained the head of the left wing of the Nazi Party, but the lot for the ideological soul of the party had been cast. Hitler allied himself with leaders of German conservative and nationalist movements, and in January 1933 German President Paul von Hindenburgappointed him chancellor. Hitler’s Third Reich had been born, and it was entirely fascist in character. Within two months Hitler achieved full dictatorial power through the Enabling Act. In April 1933 communists, socialists, democrats, and Jews were purged from the German civil service, and trade unions were outlawed the following month. That July Hitler banned all political parties other than his own, and prominent members of the German Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party were arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps. Lest there be any remaining questions about the political character of the Nazi revolution, Hitler ordered the murder of Gregor Strasser, an act that was carried out on June 30, 1934, during the Night of the Long Knives. Any remaining traces of socialist thought in the Nazi Party had been extinguished.” -

It’s obviously not. Have you ever lived in a large city? To believe this is to believe that every Dem is the same. That there’s no difference between AOC and Joe Manchin. Hell, there were constant posts on this very board about Chicago’s mayoral election in part because the candidates were very different despite both being Dems. -

I’m not sure you understand what socialism actually is. If government control of the economy = socialism, then dictatorships are socialist, which is obviously wrong. Even if you look at Marxism, how can “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need” be squared with a policy of exterminating anyone considered weak? The Nazi party opposed socialists parties but used the term in order to appeal to working class people. Putting The “Nazis Were Socialist” Nonsense To Rest -

Oh buddy. I really hope you don’t actually believe the Nazis were leftists because they used the word “socialists.” That would require quite a bit of bad history and gullibility. Next you’re going to be telling us that North Korea really is a republic because it’s named the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. -

You gotta appreciate the grift that convinces people that a party that is almost entirely left of center is actually socialist and that’s why voters should support fascism. Grifters gotta grift. -

Sure. Most of my family are MAGA voters and many of my friends are far more left than I am. While I’m obviously not perfect, I do try to take people at their word and avoid painting with too broad a brush. I don’t mind being held accountable to my own words. -

Nah, I’m pretty honest. I don’t see the point of lying on a message board for clout. Try to avoid judging large swaths of people by the actions of a handful of people. It’ll help you not be so wrong all of the time. -

People who think that Talib or AOC lead the Dem caucus should have to explain why the GOP House leader was giving her boyfriend a handy during Beetlejuice The Musical.
