  1. Tariffs and deporting large swaths of laborers. He actually talked about it quite a bit. Odd that you missed it.
  2. Millions of Americans were mad at high prices so they voted for the guy explicitly promising to raise prices. 🤷‍♂️
  3. Defending the choice to spread polio is certainly a position.
  4. Are these people in the tank for Big Iron Lung or are they just stupid? Kennedy’s Lawyer Has Asked the F.D.A. to Revoke Approval of the Polio Vaccine "The lawyer helping Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pick federal health officials for the incoming Trump administration has petitioned the government to revoke its approval of the polio vaccine, which for decades has protected millions of people from a virus that can cause paralysis or death."
  5. Wray is a coward. Anyone who thinks getting rid of Wray to install someone who has promised political retribution is a good thing because they believe Wray politicized the FBI is an obvious idiot.
  6. The back x-ray was literally in his twitter profile background. You're basically complaining that within 24 hours they had his Facebook profile pic or something. The Butler shooter has been extensively covered. Sorry to pop your bubble.
  7. Big win for tax prep companies
  8. Reading this quote from the article makes one think that if MAGA was truly upset about high prices, they would be unhappy with replacing the person leading the fight against consolidation: "Such retail and CPG concentration supercharged the price inflation that in turn created windfall profits from 2020-2022. Inflation was not demand driven, as some economists have suggested. Overall grocery prices are up over 30%, while unit volumes are actually flat or down since 2019: Grocery (center store) units down 1.6% and prices up 40% Dairy (milk, yogurt, etc.) units down .1% and prices up 33% Meat units down 10.5% and prices up 41.5% Frozen (meals, pizza, desserts) units flat at 1% and prices up 35.6%. The Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine created ample consumer concerns to give cover fire for companies up and down the supply chain to pass prices to consumers above the rate of their own cost inflation. These practices, called “sellers inflation” by economist Isabella Weber, may have contributed to over 50% of all food price inflation from 2020-2022. In that timeframe, Walmart raised prices on thousands of items well above the rate of inflation, including potato chips by 35%, cookies by 62% and yogurt by 92%. Prices at Albertsons on store brand oils increased by 117%, potato chips by 68% and packaged cheese by 125%."
  9. Thought this was a cool story, both politics and Bills related. Senate passes HEARTS Act promoted by Damar Hamlin to fund AEDs and CPR training "Two years ago, Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field, and his life was saved by a well-trained medical staff and the use of an AED device. Since then, Hamlin has advocated for CPR training and AED devices to be accessible to everyone, and this week a major milestone was reached on that front. The Senate passed the Cardiomyopathy Health Education, Awareness, Research and Training in Schools Act, also known as the HEARTS Act, which had previously passed the House. President Biden plans to sign the bill, which will fund CPR training and the availability of AEDs. Hamlin himself has advocated for the bill and worked with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to help the bill become law. “Since experiencing cardiac arrest, I’ve been honored to work with partners who understand how important it is to provide CPR education and have access to AEDs to save lives,” Hamlin said. “I’m very grateful to Senator Schumer for his work making his common-sense legislation a priority. My journey has shown us that no one expects cardiac arrest to happen- and we all need to be prepared.” The bill prioritizes funding for purchasing AEDs for schools, providing CPR training, and developing response plans for schools to use in cardiac emergencies."
  10. The fact that Austin has experience leading in the military is what disqualifies him for MAGA. They do not want people with experience because experience is bad. They want fealty.
  11. One would think that after Trump appointed millionaire after millionaire, billionaire after billionaire, to supposedly fix the system that made them so stupendously wealthy, that MAGA would question whether or not he actually planned to follow through on populism for the average American. Now that he's announced that he's going to replace probably the most populist leader currently in the federal government with your run of the mill pro-business swamp creature, it'd be hard to justify still believing the populist rhetoric. Trump is open for business, and business is good if you're already at the top of income bracket. Trump names Andrew Ferguson as head of Federal Trade Commission to replace Lina Khan
  12. I do love the rationale of “Donald Trump wont be so incredibly stupid as whoever it was that appointed Wray to head the FBI.” Very similar to him pushing tariffs because he believes whoever negotiated USMCA was an idiot.
  13. They have identified the killer as Luigi Mangione NYT
  14. Guys writing manifestos and doing shootings might not be the most rational thinking people
  15. Thoughts and prayers to Tulsi Gabbard who is having a very difficult time at this moment.
  16. Assad is evil and his fall would be a good thing. But Erdogan is no angel and the rebels are not a unified democratic force, but tenuously partnered factions that likely have very different ideas on how things should go post-Assad. I don’t know what the “day after” looks like. Could be promising, but I feel like the best bet is that it’s going to be a mess at least for a while. One of my coworkers is Syrian who still travels back there. I’ve been meaning to ask him his thoughts on this but we haven’t been in the office on the same day this week. I’ll ask him next time I see him in person.
  17. I see you’re still having problems reading. Poor kid.
  18. Every other serious proposal left healthcare insurance in the hands of the very insurance companies you were blaming liberals for.
  19. Sounds like you agree with the far left and DSA types who wanted a single payer program that would have left these guys without a job.
  20. Live Updates: South Korean President Backs Down From Martial Law Order "President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea said he would lift the emergency declaration of martial law he imposed on Tuesday as soon as he could convene his cabinet, bowing to pressure after the National Assembly passed a resolution demanding it end. By law, Mr. Yoon needs to convene his cabinet to lift martial law. The announcement by Mr. Yoon early Wednesday in South Korea came five hours after he declared martial law late Tuesday night in an unannounced televised address, and soon after the assembly unanimously voted to rescind it, a swift rebuke of the president’s response to the political deadlock that has hobbled his tenure."
  21. Apparently Yoon declared martial law but then just sent in... regular troops? He didn't put loyalists in place in the military first? Seems like an oversight...
