JA makes TB12’s and Manning’s top five QB list
Success replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
C'mon, Manning. -
I kind of get it. There is a caution you build in after awhile - you don't want to be disappointed again, so you lower expectations. This is pervasive throughout sports. I'm excited and positive about the season, though. I can handle disappointment as a sports fan.
-
At this point, we haven't really lost much in terms of the season. Samuel is week to week - with a little less than 3 weeks to go. MVS will take longer, but it's not like he was going to be in the top 3 anyway. People here are kind of panicking unnecessarily, imo.
-
I think Kincaid could be kind of scary if he takes a next step and has a bigger role (both of which I see as likely). Maybe he's not technically a WR - but he kind of is. Almost how Kelce is w/ KC. Shakir might not be 'scary' in the traditional sense, but he's a playmaker and can hold it down as a top target in the WR group.
-
We're still around 7-8 in most power rankings I've seen. I don't put a ton of stock in those, but it kind of just shows how spoiled we've become by expectations. Maybe we have less of a chance to contend for a title this year - but it's still a GOOD chance. We've been derailed by some key injuries in previous seasons, and particularly last year. If we happen to be the healthier team when January rolls around this year, I'd love our chances to finally get to the Superbowl.
-
I can't disagree w/ that. I'd love to see us have at least a top 10 WR corps. Personally, I don't mind the focus on RB - we need a running game, and we're still not there yet. I really like what I saw out of Davis, and think he and Cook can potentially be the best tandem we've had under JA. We'll see, but that would improve our offense as much as an upgrade at the 3 or 4 receiver position. And I almost always rationalize lack of investment in the WR position by looking at what the Pats did for 15+ years while they were going to Super Bowls every other year. It was so rare to see them make that investment. Moss stands out. You can say guys like Welker & Edelman were great, but they were both late rounders that I'd guess we would hardly know if they played for a lot of other teams.
-
Fair. But couldn't you say the same about a Hollins or Hamler? I get that we can see how they've actually done in the NFL - but we've also seen great QB's get the best out of receivers who were previously unheralded pretty often throughout the years. Manning & Brady were most notable on that front.
-
This is all a pretty premature freak-out. They have said Samuel is week to week. That means it's low grade. There is probably a very good chance he's playing week 1. It's not like we're all of a sudden in a more dire situation than a month ago. The WR group was always going to be a question mark this year. I don't chalk this up as some "Beane fail" or anything. Another WR pick in the 4th round wasn't going to make any discernible difference this season.
-
This board can be pretty surreal. We have Josh Allen. I am stoked for September. And I will be every single year that we have Josh Allen. I have no idea what to expect - but I think we absolutely could be as competitive as any team we've had in the JA era. People are freaking out about the WR position, but this still has potential to be a potent offense w/ 2 very good TE's and an improved running game.
-
And, ironically, the year they had him they didn't win a SB.
-
Literally the only year that Pats fans didn't complain about their receivers corps was when they had Moss in 2007. Otherwise, that unit was largely ignored - because Brady made everyone good. Worked out okay for them during the Brady years.
-
3 weeks before the season even starts? Sure.
-
I think it's Shakir. Guess we'll see how the season goes.
-
In what world would Hollins be #2? Shakir & Coleman are 1 & 2 right now, imo. And there is a good chance Samuel is back if he's week to week - it likely means it's low grade, and we have almost 3 weeks to go here. On your 1st point, I'd agree KC's top 3 are better - but I'd be hard pressed to call it a slam dunk. We have absolutely no idea on the Coleman/Worthy comparison yet (and lord, do I hope that's clear in favor of Coleman when all is said & done). Are Brown & Rice better than Shakir & Samuel? Maybe a little. It's not night & day between the 2 groups.
-
Is Samuel our #1?
-
Close to the weakest unit on the team. But, let's see what Brady can scheme up. We have 2 good TE's, and a good RB group. It's hard to imagine the O becoming anemic like the old days. It does harken back to the WR groups of the drought years, though.
-
We need a R-E-L-A-X from Rodgers or someone. I'm not loving it - but it's kind of obvious it's not Grade 3 if he's week to week. And we have a few weeks before the start of the season here. And the 1st game is home against the Cards - we can survive that one without him. If it does turn into some kind of lingering thing - they'll simply have to make a move. But that hasn't even been hinted at yet.
-
That's overrating Hollywood a bit. We'd have 3 #2 guys.
-
I remember that draft. Most of the board would have lost their minds if we picked Mahomes.

Preseason week 2 (non Bills related)
Success replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Man, the KC hype already. I hope we can give them more resistance this year. Another SB and I'll feel like it's right back to living in the shadow of the Pats dynasty. Those were dark times. -

He could have gotten hurt w/ the way the defender came in. He absolutely made the right decision in a preseason game.- 163 replies

Feels like that one is a TD w/ Allen 10x out of 10.- 163 replies
