  1. Kind of - but I think it's out the window if it makes sense in terms of improving our own team, without improving the rival too much. I can see where people will end up thinking we improved KC at an unreasonable level - but I'd only counter that it's all a calculation. Would Worthy have fallen to them anyway? Would whatever receiver they got if we hadn't traded been significantly worse than Worthy in their offense? That doesn't make sense. Coleman - like Worthy - is a starter.
  2. Can't it just be a trade that could potentially work out for both teams? This thread is about hot-take, lunatic America freaking out after 1 quarter of play on "why did the stupid Bills let KC get Worthy?" I hope we never have a GM who decides against a trade that could benefit the Buffalo Bills simply because it involves Kansas City. That's making business decisions and decisions about the quality of our team based on nothing more than perception, or trying to avoid the aforementioned lunatic hot-takes. Let's say we stand pat, don't get the extra pick, and the Niners take Worthy, so KC loses out on him. Are we really to believe that whatever receiver they ended up taking in the 1st round wouldn't have made some nice plays last night?
  3. Oh, damn. That's embarrassing. You are correct, sir.
  4. I get the perception. But "as of today" is literally 1 game into the season. Before the Bills have even had a snap. These kinds of trades are RATIONALLY evaluated after at minimum one full season, but usually a few seasons.
  5. 5-12 is crazy. I get we lost a lot of guys - but 5-12? At least we're not being overhyped by many. This is as under-the-radar as we have been since JA's first couple of years. No one is really talking about us. And that suits me just fine.
  6. I wouldn't call that apples to apples. I think the characterization you presented on that is accurate. Not trading on draft day w/ KC - when it benefits you, but you just don't want a perception of helping KC - is more playing scared, imo.
  7. I don't know. To me, that's playing scared. That's completely adjusting your draft and costing yourself an extra player (in this case, Cole Bishop - a safety we really need), because you're so intimidated and psychologically worn down by another team.
  8. I don't see it as a nightmare. To me, it's just another test for this organization and fanbase - another challenge. It's a higher wall we probably have to climb. But that will make the payoff even better. We'd all love to be fat & happy and have a couple of Lombardi's in the trophy case right now, but there is something that's still fun about the chase, at least for me.
  9. How did we give them McDuffie? Worthy isn't the receiver we needed, imo. Some have said it here - but he's more of a stretch the field/gadget play guy than a potential #1/red zone target.
  10. His extra gear probably did make a difference, even though it was great blocking. If I didn't hate the Chiefs, I would have enjoyed it - that was a cool play & fun to watch.
  11. Just a side note: they will be a tough team to cover when Brown gets back. Rice looked great last night. They have some serious speed.
  12. You're being too defensive about it. My observations were accurate about those 2 plays - and I also said he's incredibly fast. He'll be great in the Chiefs' offense, and I even added at the end that it will probably end up being a good trade for both teams. I'm not discrediting Worthy (and I heaped praise on Jackson last night, btw - I love his game). This thread is more about the intense negative reaction many fans had about the trade itself when Worthy scored last night. Here, there were certainly scattered comments - but nationally, it was over the top.
  13. Great observation. Really, the only criticism of that trade would be if we knew the Niners would take Worthy. But we weren't taking him - and we got a guy who is a better fit, and a likely starting safety out of the deal.
  14. He far surpassed Brady with his classless meltdown after last year's regular season game. I just couldn't stand Brady because he beat us all of the time, but he was never a crybaby like that.
  15. You'd argue those points? You don't think it's a benefit for an offensive player to have Andy Reid as his coach? You don't think it was blown coverage? Figured you'd chime in on this one, Billl. I'd encourage you to just enjoy your threepeat season instead of trying to pile on the Bills even more. Were you looking for threads like "Woe is us! We made a terrible trade w/ KC again!!!"
  16. There was definitely speculation they would, and it's possible - but I have read that speed was not their priority at that spot & not a good scheme fit.
  17. It's actually insane - here & nationally. He had 2 big plays yesterday. The 1st TD was some of the best blocking I've seen in awhile, and reflective of how good Reid is. Most fast receivers get that TD. The 2nd TD was a completely blown coverage, and pretty much ANY WR would have gotten a TD on. He's incredibly fast - but we knew that before the draft. The internet went crazy last night blaming the Bills and Beane - as though we didn't expect the guy to make some plays in one of the best offenses, with one of the best QB's and best offensive minds in the game? But that's beside the point. In all likelihood, KC would have gotten Worthy by standing pat in that draft. Instead, we traded - and not only got Coleman, but Bishop as well. People keep saying that if Worthy outperforms Coleman, it will look terrible for the Bills....but what if Bishop turns into a top safety? It's almost like it's in the national psyche that KC always bests the Bills. That will probably turn out to be a good trade for both teams, but the hot take reaction was so over the top anti-Bills.
  18. We're more like Manning's Colts to those Pats, though. Not the drought-era Bills. We're still the team that gives them the biggest challenge - and just like those Colts, one of these days we'll break through.
  19. I don't know - he's also one of the most electric, fun-to-watch players in the league. Some other QB's would have been sacked 5-6 times tonight. I don't know if there are too many guys who can improvise like he can.
  20. Eh - in truth, they probably gave us a 3rd rounder for free. That won't be the national narrative if Worthy really pans out, but it's probably the reality.
  21. As a passer, Jackson isn't at the level of Mahomes & Allen. Not really close, even. But man, that guy is REALLY hard to bring down in the pocket, and when he spots a running lane, he's through it in a flash. So fun to watch.
  22. KC has that thing where there is such a small margin of error when you play them. We've been like that at times over the years w/ Allen. I'm not sure if that's us this year.
  23. Exactly this. I'm going to hate the Worthy talk - but it's not based on anything too "real." Great blocking on the 1 TD, and a blown coverage on the 2nd. He's fast - but we all knew that.
  24. Probably better for us. I have a hunch we'll be competing more w/ Baltimore for seeding than KC.
  25. KC gets Worthy regardless - but it's not how he does against Coleman. It's how he does against Coleman & Bishop.
