Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
Success replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean, if we want speed, we can trade for Thornton. But obviously, speed isn't everything. -
The Texans lost Nico, but we were without Shakir. And I completely disagree about the Bengals. They played well against the Ravens, but they are not better than the Bills and their record backs that up emphatically. As for getting blown out by 2 more teams - didn't we go about 40+ games here without getting blown out until the Ravens? Now we're going to get blown out 3x in under 2 months? This board really gets into sky-falling mode after a couple of losses. We will do much better this season than people think right now.

This is a stingy defense. I honestly think the key to this game is changing our 1st down philosophy, if you can call it that. We have to pass more than we run on that down. That really hurt us against Houston, and I think cost us the game. Nothing but runs on 1st down, leading to 2nd & 3rd and long every time. It makes the offense very one-dimensional and easy to defend.

That's about 10 hours of very unsatisfying football I've watched since yesterday morning. I might have to re-evaluate my life.
-
They get everyone's best shot. Gotta respect what they're doing. They're the new Patriots, and their fans are enjoying that. I'm jealous, but they paid dues and had tons of heartbreak and bad teams for many years.

Man, it is seriously hard to sack Mahomes. When it happens, you realize how rare it is.
-
I should appreciate watching Mahomes as a fan of the game. I do not.
-
Mahomes' secret? Throwing to guys that are open by roughly a mile.
-
I remember teams used to miss extra points against the Pats, too.
-
Saints can still make a game of this. Need to score on this one.
-
Good equalizer for that questionable PI call.
-
"Catchable" isn't a thing anymore?
-
That has to be one of the most favorable spots.
-
Oh, no. Worthy got a catch. Here come 4-5 threads.
-
Nice! The Saints CAN score a lot of points. I don't think this KC team can keep up if they get into that mode.

Random talking head says something about the Bills

I've generally been a supporter of McDermott - but that last series yesterday was SO BAD. As soon as JA was in shotgun formation, my jaw just dropped. That SEEMED aggressive, but it was actually playing scared. He didn't trust the defense to hold Houston w/ maybe 20 seconds left and no timeouts. -
Refs HAVE to give KC a token hold call once in a blue moon...
-
I thought this would be a tough game for the Chiefs. Doesn't look like it so far.

Reid really does do a nice job w/ that offense. They don't have much right now - really, their top 2 WR's are out, as is their top RB, and Kelce & Hunt are both older & slower. And yet they still make it work. I'm happy for Reid, because he's likable and really turned things around from when he was in Philly. But I do strongly dislike KC.

Mini rebuild. Why is anyone that surprised?
Success replied to Blackbeard's topic in The Stadium Wall
In previous years? True. There is no rule though. Players and teams lose to other players and teams, until they don't. Jordan couldn't get past the Celtics, then the Pistons, until he did. Manning couldn't get past the Pats, until he did. -
Why wouldn't we offer up a 2nd? We have plenty of picks next year. I'd hate to hear that we "just lost out" because we weren't quite aggressive enough.

25 % of the way through, what does success look like for 2024?
Success replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not sure how anyone can choose anything aside from getting the title. -

The overreactions on this thread & board right now border on comical. While it isn't all "we're fine," we lost on a long FG w/ regulation expiring, on the road, to a top team. I feel like people just started watching the game. The Ravens game was bad, but everyone knows we were starting to roll until that trick play. I can probably go back and look at the last 20 Super Bowl finalists, and find much worse losses & stretches in their regular season for most of them than what we've had here. -

It's football. Practically every game comes down to a few plays. What if Brady doesn't call the trick play last week? What if we don't pass 3x yesterday? We can beat anyone. I'll stand by that. -
