  1. My hope for the resurgence of the Buffalo Bills is unwavering. My faith that it will happen is the challenge I face. I see a lot of positives in what the team has done this offseason, but paper tigers often burn. I, like every one of you, yearn for the day when I can attend a Buffalo Bills playoff game. " Show me the baby" is as good a phrase as can be used to describe my trepidation.

  2.

Here. This should be more up your alley. John Murphy and Donald Jones will serve you some Koolaid just the way you like it.

Kool Aid? I was just looking for actual facts surrounding a well-hired front office to-date. You were looking for an argument with false truths as your backing. The consistency in your belief regarding the order in which the hiring was done is admirable, but at the same time sad. You have had numerous far more knowledgeable posters than you give you fact, which you continue to ignore, regarding the majority of organizations and the way in they handle front office shake-ups.

I'm all for discussion and takes from both sides, but this point should be moot.

  3.

The principle I was defending was getting your best people in place before the draft. The Indy GM was hired in January and ran the draft. Our GM came in after the draft. The GM is more important and you want your best personnel guys working together. If you like the new hires you will have to admit they played no role in the last draft.

That is a basic statement. Who would argue that? Your constant banter from the negative without facts to back you up, apparently now even making stuff up at times, does get tiresome. That is the main thing under scrutiny right now. Admitting when you are wrong also seems to be an m.o. of yours as well. Work on it.

  4. Obviously Beane has the McD connection. But I wonder how the Bills are deciding who to interview? You need a lot of insider knowledge to know who the good personnel guys are (guys who don't currently sit in the top spot).

Did we hire a search firm? Does Pegs have a retired GM or HC as an unofficial adviser?

This is a great question. I know that they have really tried to keep a lot of things under wraps at OBD this off-season, so they might have an adviser that has kept quiet about it, but there haven't been rumblings about it in the least.

  5.

$4.35m of his base is guaranteed this year so he's not getting cut. Easy cut after '17 though.

Keep saying it, Gerald Hodges. The 3-month anniversary of me fighting for this one :D - http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/02/06/could-lb-gerald-hodges-be-a-2017-nfl-free-agent-target-for-the-bills/

I see Hodges as the best fit out there for sure. The fact that he still hasn't signed a contract gives me the sense that his contract $ will be low. Why not take a flyer?

  6. they aren't releasing him. They are waiting to see if he is healthy enough to commit to long-term via tag/extension. and they have a lot more info than we do.

If Whaley was still here I'm thinking he would pick it up just so he wouldn't look stupid. We do not know the medical report on the foot. They may also not be comfortable with his approach to rehab. We just don't know.

This may have been another of the pieces of ammo that led to Whaley's dismissal. Assuredly, the Bills will not tie themselves to a player just to placate a GM, that gave up too much for him, trying to save face.
  7. Because you said winning will make a player happy, and coddling them will not make them happy. Shady was happy and coddled, and wasn't held accountable by Rex, and yet still worked his ass off and succeeded.

Different degrees of happiness I guess. If you are a McD type player, accountability and winning are your path to happiness. What type of player would you rather work with? Based on the last two seasons, the Shady and Kyle Williams types (players with pride and who hold themselves accountable) were the exception not the rule.

Perhaps my statement was too broad, but as an athlete who played sports my whole life, I have witnessed the difference. Players need accountability and fairness. Coddling creates an unfair environment, jealousy and slacking. You can't win with that.

  8. Nothing special. Played against low level talent and caught a ton of screens.

Corey Davis also competed against lower-tiered schools, but went 6th overall. The level of competition does not make the player, rising well above it does. He may not live up to my expectations, but surely sounds like he'll well exceed yours.
