You and @hondo in seattle made the appropriate points.
The other thing that cannot be overstated is the loss of chemistry on D with Poyer & Hyde both gone. That's some serious experience and on-field leadership that's now gone.
True but don't underestimate McDermott's ability to coach up safeties. The o-line is my main concern as we won't have as much injury luck as we did last year and our depth inside will be a lot weaker.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up.

My pleasure and I'm even an optimist by nature. Shorter is just the classic late round under performing yet highly recruited toolsy player that is bound to disappoint fans who think he could be a steal in the 5th round.

#Flutiewouldvewonthegame
It would've been fun to see twitter's live reaction to that decision and game. Has there ever been a QB competition as passionate and ugly as that one? I remember wishing I could transform Flutie's brain into Johnson's body. Josh Allen also happened to be born right before both were signed here so maybe God had too much free time on his hands.

Has any WR on the Bills had as many targets as Gabe the past 4 years besides Steph?
How many drooped passes has he had compared to any other player over 4 years? How many INTs when he was targeted over the past 4 years? How many miscommunications with Allen?
Dude is just a very inconsistent player. He’s made a lot of big plays for the Bills, but there is also a lot of negative plays. We need an upgrade at #2 and it would have been great to keep Gabe as the #3, but not at that price.
Josh isn't blameless either and fans I think are a little too harsh on Gabe not wanting to blame Josh.
However, I think a lot of those INT's/miscues was Josh putting "too much" trust in Gabe given his size. You just didn't see him take those chances with someone like Jon Brown or Emmanuel Sanders. I prefer that type of outside WR opposite Diggs. Remove the temptation of having a WR with Gabe's profile.

He's not a wild-card. He's a WR4 special teams gunner and that's his ceiling imo. Anyone expecting more will be disappointed.

I just have faith that Allen will make sure this is still a top five offense and McDermott will figure out the defense to make sure it stays in the top half of the league. My expectations of winning the division and at least making the divisional round remain the same as it has since we acquired Diggs in 2020. Then it just comes down to a matter of how healthy we are compared to our competition come playoff time. Like every year, the biggest caveat is that Allen stays healthy.

If anything I'm overvaluing him
In this offense, being the 13th most productive wideout in the league on the 5th highest AAV is really bad value compared to a good rookie
Only nine rookie WR's had more yards than Diggs had last year in NFL history. None had more receptions. Expecting a rookie WR to come in and produce at his level is unrealistic.

Generally I roll my eyes at these comments. But this is pretty accurate. Great regular season performer but has he really had a big playoff game for us?
Not past the WC round but he had a certain play for the Vikings that was somewhat memorable in the playoffs.

LOL. A player breaking the news via social media about another player. This is a new one.

Comp pick is at the end of the 3rd round (97-102 range). Until the Titans obtain a quality QB, I fully expect them to be drafting in the top 10, so this pick is most likely in the top 70’s of the draft.
On another note, this is a salary dump by the Chiefs…my question is why? They had cap space for Snead, why settle for the lie compensation? Their C is going to get a massive contract soon, but no one else looks to be breaking the bank on their team for 2025. They are going to have $30M in cap space, who are they targeting? Let’s all hope it’s not an elite offensive talent.
They can roll that cap space over to next year as Jones's cap hit next year is $34.8m in 2025. It puts them in good position to re-sign Humphrey, Danna, and D. Smith if they wanted.

I guess it's better than a comp pick which is what they would've gotten if they just let him walk. Don't like the move for the Titans as they'll now have to pay top dollar for a CB and give up what will pry be a high 3rd rounder.

the difference was Watkins wasn’t viewed as HOF type player. Harrison Jr is viewed on that level at least by some
The general consensus at the time was Watkins was the best WR prospect since AJ Green. Giving up significant draft capital to move up in the draft (especially for a non QB) is historically a losing proposition.

Atleast Walker ran for 1000 yards.
Not for the Vikings he didn't. The Cowboys parlayed those draft picks into Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darryl Woodson. It's one of the most fascinating trades of all time.

The most 1 sided trade in history. Browns did nothing with those picks.
A bit hyperbolic as the Herschel Walker trade alone pry led to three Cowboys Super Bowls in the 90's. Also, that doesn't mean Atlanta wouldn't have used those picks they gave up effectively.

Let's just say Brandon Beane gets drugged hours before the draft. This is what it took for the Falcons to move from 27 to 6 for reference. Maybe it would require a 2025 2nd instead of a 4th.

I heard he's going all out with it being his 50th. He's putting a scoop of sugar in his steel cut oatmeal.

Just by the interviews last off-season I wish he'd work more on nutrition more to prolong his career as long as possible. Other than that I don't have much to criticize as we really don't know how much he does to improve his game each off-season.

The Bills will seriously consider carrying 2 punters. Not a serious team.
They've never carried two punters. They have eaten dead money though if a player wins the competition in training camp (Morris over OJ Howard). It's possible Haack beats out Martin.

Pretty sure the $41M gtd is all new money outside of the 5th year option already in place.
I'd put money on it only being a three year extension after his 5th year option with $28m guaranteed.

Does the 41 million guaranteed include the 13 million guaranteed fifth year option?

And to that end, what sense does doing it after 6/1 make? The Draft is over. Free Agency is bare bones. We save the same amount moving on from him after the season as we would after 6/1. You're essentially paying him to not be here for no gain.
Makes way more sense to have him here for the season and if you need to move on from him, you do it before the start of Free Agency next year.
Unless you get a trade offer for him that made sense both short and long term.

We're talking about giving up a sixth round pick and the Bills have more late-round picks than they could possibly roster, so I don't think that's much of an impediment.
If we didn't give Trubisky $2.7m guaranteed they may have inquired about Fields. He'll count $2m towards the cap this year and we'll eat $1.5m if we cut him. This team cap wise isn't in a position to commit at what minimum would've been a $4.7m cap space to the backup QB position (assuming Trubisky was cut).

Well it looks like it’s not happening now. Maybe after June 1.
Of course it's not. You don't light $38m of cap space on fire.

If I had to put money on it he's going either DE or OT if he stays at #28. That might be where the value is.
Are you better off today than you were four years ago?

I give him credit for Operation Warp Speed for the vaccines though. A massive success that saved a lot of lives and we may still be wearing masks without it. Ironically, the moronic faction of the Democrat party don't want to give Trump any credit for it while the idiot faction of the Republican party thinks it was unnecessary.
