Both are often true. McD is coaching up pretty weak talent but he’s coaching them up to fail on the big stage because his scheme doesn’t work against good teams.
Its not a good situation at all.

Lamar is the Dan Reeves of Marty Shottenheimers.

Lamar is literally going to win an MVP because his defense picked up the 49ers QB's five times. Freaking MVP voters.
But Romo said that Lamar catching his own pass was the greatest play he’s ever seen.

This will be the first that I don’t watch. Lady wants to go away for the weekend hiking and then I have my drum lessons.
I’m pretty sure I know how it’s going to end. Each year I drift a little further away from the NFL. My father was the same way at my age. I’m losing interest pretty quickly.

Many times this season I’ve seen coaches go for it, manage to get it, then get stuffed on the next series and settle for a FG anyway or turn it over.
It would be different if that 4th and 4 decision guaranteed you a TD but it doesn’t.
You’re on the road, with a lead, you kick the FG every time.
Andy Reid kicks that FG in that spot.

He's not a bad player. His talent alone wins a lot of games in the regular season. He's basically the equivalent of the Bills defense in the regular season. You know he's going to help you win a lot of games and as long as he stays healthy (big question mark) you are making the playoffs every year.
I'm no Lamar fan this year. But come on. Hist first MVP in 2019 was very much legit.
But they had to make him one of the highest paid QB’s in the league. Financially, it didn’t make much sense if you’re looking 5 years down the road.

I would make the trade just to have another DC and scheme.

Harbough has a SB win.

The scheme doesn't hold up against the better QB's. We basically don't play man defense. If we do we don't have the players to execute it at a high level. The Tampa style defense has a long history of folding in the playoffs. Glad we are married to it 👍
Yeah. It really is the scheme. It’s also undersized and when 1 guy goes down in a game, the entire defense collapses.
It takes McD 2-3 weeks to adjust his defense to injuries unlike the Chiefs that just adjust on the fly in the same game. That’s not acceptable when all of your team’s resources are being spent on that side of the ball.

"Sean McDermott's Bills Defense in the last four playoff eliminations: (Chiefs x 3, Bengals x 1)
38 Drives
16 Touchdowns
8 Field Goals
6 Punts
6 Kneel-downs/End of Half
1 Missed Field Goal
1 Turnover
134 Points allowed"
yeah; I think the playoff defense has pretty much sucked.
Damn. It felt that bad too. Continuously shredded in playoffs.

Oh ok … I thought you had a real alternative .They aren’t playing today in that event
There was a rookie QB in the playoffs this season and he could’ve been a Raven if they traded Lamar (like he supposedly wanted) and moved up in that draft.

My memory is a little worse for wear at the moment… move on from Lamar and do what?
Draft a QB that can throw the ball. Maybe no team actually wanted to trade for him?

The Ravens had a perfect opportunity to move on from Lamar in the offseason and they totally blew it. I’ll never understand that decision. They deserve what they get now.

You don’t kick FG’s, you lose.

We aren’t viewed favorably on a national level anymore. People have grown tired of us.
There were also mentions of Kermit dolls and Mahomes dolls/figures hanging from nooses in nearby trees, etc near the stadium.

1. He has had 6 years with Josh and only four with him as one of the best QBs in the NFL. In those four seasons he has lost three times in the playoffs to the one QB who is probably better than him and once to the QB who is arguably right behind Josh on his tail.
2. I have no sympathy with the "better the devil you know" argument. That is NOT a reason to keep Sean McDermott. That said, does the prospect of Terry Pegula hiring the next coach terrify me? Yes. Yes it does.
3. McDermott and Beane are joined at the hip. If one goes they both go. The Head Coach does not report to Beane. And even if they did, we know that in BOTH of Pegula's coaching searches so far in Buffalo he overruled his GM and hired the guy he liked best.
Wait a minute. You flipped and want McD gone now? Just like that?

If the culture is as strong as some of you say, it should be able to survive the firing of a weak HC to reach the end goal. It’s time to try a results-based approach since the faith-based approach hasn’t worked out so well. A win at all costs approach, preferably one that can field an average defense in a playoff game and not embarrass ourselves in humiliating fashion each year.
We already know where the ceiling is for this bunch. Do we really need to see it again?

Thats just ridiculous. Hes one of the best defensive coaches in the league. One of the best head coaches. He’s just not good in close games.
Yeah, that means you aren’t good. His defense blew large leads in like 4 games this season and lost and that’s not counting the games he blew with bad head coaching decisions late in games. He was well on his way to letting the Steelers come back also.
I haven’t looked but he likely blew 10 point leads or more in a dozen games this year and the Josh bailed him out.

They lost one game by being too aggressive. So…
McDermott just isn’t a clutch coach. Everything else I think he’s very good, but clutch moments are not his thing.
Defense isn’t his thing either.

Diggs was open earlier though. If Josh had gone to him he’d have gotten the ball off cleanly. I will very rarely complain about a player or coach being aggressive, but Diggs was the right throw for that reason. I like that Allen wants to go for the big throw, but that wasn't the time.
The bleeding the clock argument is valid as it is a legitimate strategy in situations like this. Even if we would’ve had to settle for a FG, it would have been much shorter and there would have been a lot less time on the clock. Or we could’ve won outright with a TD.
Diggs would have dropped it anyway. Josh was done looking his way.

I am beyond tired of the national hand-wringing about that play. It was THERE. I've actually heard fans argue that what Allen SHOULD have done is to just keep picking up small chunks, and then score a TD with just a few seconds left on the clock.
As though you can script something like that perfectly. Then there is a holding penalty, or sack, or turnover, or you just can't get in the endzone. Allen saw Shakir wide open for 6, and he went for it. And, as we all know, if Chris Jones gets there a half second later, that's a TD and we're likely up by 4.
I'm like, is that the best that you've got, Allen haters? The guy plays a great game, should have had at least 100 more yards and another TD if his receivers could hang onto the ball - and you're saying "same ol' Allen" because he went for an OPEN TOUCHDOWN.
And I hope Mahomes throws 3 picks this week so we can all see the double-standard. It won't be nearly as analyzed and dissected.
What fans and coaches expect from Josh is just absolutely insane. He’s supposed to kill an entire quarter of clock and instantly throw a TD when McD snaps his fingers, and every week.
