Agreed see if he can manage some semblence of a complete season before committing 13 mil to him. If he can manage a complete season franchise him and negotiate a full contract before the franchise tag kicks in. Its pretty simple, keep emotions out and let a good buisness decision prevail.
Quite reasonable.

Again, you missed the point. This wasn't about whether it was ok or not. Why is the media pretending this year is different than last year?
Forget it, I asked a question and you decided to go down a different road.
Next time you might want to make your question more clear.
It was not all right for the media to change perspectives. One of my issues with media I posited in another thread today is consistency.

You missed the point. Why was it ok last year and not this year?
You miss the point. It wasn't OK last year either.
You can'tbe serious. All you said on BBMB is that Manuel needed more time after his first year yet Goff is an overreach after playing in exactly 7 games on a true dumpster fire team with 205 attempts. Oh man thats comical.
Um, no. I thought Manuel needed more time, but he eventually showed he wasn't the guy. And I think Goff needs more time, although I suspect he won't wind up being a long term answer.. When I say over reachit's that they should never have paid the price they did to move up for Goff. Same with Wentz. Each of them may turn out OK, but especially for the Rams they paid a helluva lot for a QB that should not have been the #1 pick in the draft.

Actually if you're that ticked off at these guys, the thing to do would be to contact advertisers for the News and tell them you refuse to buy their products. I don't think anyone is that upset though. I read their stuff, some of it's good and some not.
-
I love how all these experts declare none of these QB's deserve to be top ten players yet they said nothing when Jared Goff went #1 last year.
A classic overreach. I suspect Wentz may wind up the same.
It is not about just drafting QBs. It is about drafting the RIGHT QB.
-
It's simple. If you think this kid is the kind of QB that you keep for the next 10-15 years and gives you a shot to be a perennial contender, run to the podium. If not, then take someone at another position that you think can be a perennial All Pro like a Foster or Adams.
-
You of course pick up his 5th year. He's a force when healthy. The fifth year doesn't cost much, and if his health continues to be an issue you simply don't sign him to a second deal.

Thurman, if you are pro good journalism then you should be seeing the issues with these columns. And Sullivan clearly has had it in for Pegula since Terry challenged him on a column he wrote when he first hit town. why take the cheap shot about it being nice for Terry to show up? There is no journalistic reason to do so.

You think Bucky makes sense when he says fans hoping we lost for Jack Eichel was delusional?
[/
quote]It all looks fine to me.
I don't agree with all of it, but it all makes sense.
You really have a problem with a reporter saying bad things about an owner whose two sports teams went or are going 33-37 and 7-9? A guy with Terry Pegula's ratio of wining seasons to losing seasons? Well, to each their own, I guess.
I have a problem when a guy like Bucky completely reneges on his previous opinion about the tanking issue. and I have a problem with Sullivan taking a cheap shot at Pegula (nice of him to show up, to paraphrase him) just because the owner called Jerry out about one column when he first bought the Sabres.
Criticism is justified. No problem with that. But some consistency would be nice (See:Bucky) and writing without resorting to amateurish cheap shots (see: Sullivan) would be welcome. And each of these guys can do so: some of their columns are quite good. But they resort to this kind ofjunk with the Bills and Sabres far too often. They should go back and read guys like Felser and Peters and such and see how they were able to becritical while maintaining a higher level of professionalism.
For those of you who weren't on the old BBMB, Thurman is very pro reporter.
-
Not for me. But to each his own.
-
If you think he's the guy take him. If you don't, then don't. The Bills picked 2 guys in the first with JP and EJ where they reached, and neither were the guy.
-
Sad news. Prayers for his family.

Adams is a Polamalu type. I take him and never look back.

Better Cleveland than NYC as far as the media.

How many head cases truly succeed in the NFL?

Why wasn't Whaley there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He was there

Yates is just as bad of a backup... A team with no franchise QB doesn't need a bad backup. They need a future...
Which does not mean they should not have a backup QB.
-
I guess that's where it's sketchy to me. What if TP loves Trubisky but Whaley prefers Watson?
Well said
I know that I sound like a broken record but what is TP's role in the process? If he prefers a certain guy does he ultimately make the call? If so, that's a problem.
His role is simple. He's the owner. And he wants to be sure if they draft a QB that will be the face of his franchise it's a guy he'd want as the face of his franchise
-
You could swing a dead cat at all the veteran backups out there, take whichever one it hit, and it would work out about the same. Yates makes as much sense as anyone else since he played for Dennison. So a very reasonable move. And it doesn't preclude them drafting a guy.

Great memories of the Rockpile, the best being the Hit Heard Round The World

I don't think it's too far off.
I cringe everytime I see Russ in the war room. The guys a clown.
Watch the draft this year and see if you can document one team where the President isn't there
-
Just a word of reality here for ya's
None of these people have anything to do with how the team has been playing, except the one strength guy might have some small impact.
Likewise Scott Berchtold had nothing to do with team performance.
None of the front office decision makers who have presided over the last 17 years have been replaced. Not one.
Litman is gone. So you're wrong.

If McD places emphasis on CBs tackling ability it makes sense that they let Gilmore go

Guys I wasn't trying to cause issues, but this is a board for ALL Opinions. It is still my opinion, thats all it is, that until there is an actual stadium in place the Bills can move. I still don't like the fact the NFL is ok with the Bills holding off on building or making plans to build, after a multi year hard press including last year.
Again, not being a jerk or trying to be, its just as I see it right now and I honest to God hope I am completely wrong. Sorry if this caused unneeded stress or angst.
Perhaps you came off as too strident. I just think given all they're doing in the city and with Kim having local ties they are committed to WNY.
Buffalo News sports department is a joke

There are none. But most can do so without resorting to cheap shots and can be at least somewhat consistent in their critiques. I live in Indy and Bob Kravitz is very tough on the Colts and Pacers. But he doesn't resort to the cheap shots like Sullivan does and he will admit when he changes his stance and explains why, unlike Bucky. Oh, and when he's wrong he'll admit it. Bucky has yet to indicate he was wrong about the McCoy bar incident when he demanded he be released the day after the incident, assuming McCoy's guilt.
