  1. I like to see the Bills win 11 games a season.

Nothing that TT has shown me has convinced me he'll reach 10 or 11 wins even with a TOP 5 Defense

To convince me he is great and beyond reproach, TT needs to lead the Bills to 10 or 11 wins, especially with a top 5 D.

And cue the hyperbole. No one has said that I can see that they think TT is great and beyond reproach. I fully expect and support them drafting another guy early next year.

And it is not TT that gets to 10 or 11 wins. That is a team thing.

If they get to 10 or 11 wins with him under center, and reach the playoffs, all you'll do is say then that they can't get to a Super Bowl if he doesn't get there. Very predictable.

  2. His mobility is a big part of why that TTT number is high.

It also almost cost the Bills 2 HUGE sacks last Sunday.

You like to see the glass as half empty, I guess.

The reason the OP started this thread is apparent in a post he made within saying he'd rather have a team that's 7-9 but throwing the ball more and being exciting (whatever that means) vs. 9-7. That pretty much sums it up.

Me, I think wins are exciting. And the more the better.

  3.

what the hell is Big Time Throw %

Time to Throw needs to be improved. No O Line can hold back a defense on every passing snap for that long and maintain protection.

It would be interesting to break down throws based on when he stayed in the pocket vs. when he moved around and scrambled. His mobility is a big part of his game and keeps plays going, but would increase this stat.

It did look like he stayed in the pocket more than usual last week.

  4. What I posted was not a statement of fact to be argued.

    Let me rephrase it.

As long as the Bills can score equally well doing both .... I don't care how they do it.

Show me a QB who can pass for 300 on occasion and walk away with a WIN and I will be very happy.

Not a demand, a statement of what would make me happy.

I'm sorry. I didn't understand that when one offers an opinion on the board that others are not allowed to offer alternative impressions.

To offer more detail, you could throw for more yards in a game and not result in more scoring. If you start with poorer field position for example. Or if you throw 4 picks when you are throwing the ball more and that leads to lack of scoring. Or if you get way behind and have to start throwing more to try and get back into the game.

Our difference is this: as long as the Bills win I don't care how they do it. If they do it with a suffocating defense, and an offense that doesn't make big mistakes fine. If they do it with 200 yards running, fine. If they do it with 400 yards passing, fine.

The league does not give style points, they add up wins and losses. And the ironic thing about this thread is that people have complained, and with justification, that TT has to show he can take the offense on his shoulders if the run game dies. Well, last week the run game wasn't good. So he goes 20-26 and makes the plays needed to win the game. But the criticism then changes to him not throwing for enough yards.

That's why I've asked several times here, if TT throws for over 300 this week, and they lose (as did 6 of 10 teams last week), will it still be his fault? I know some people here will say yes, regardless of what the rest of the team does.

  5. Thank you! Nobody's saying that Dareus should be taken out and beaten. He can wallow in a lack of self motivation till the proverbial cows come home. Everyone has stuff that has, or is, happening to them...EVERYONE. I'll compare my list to of stuff with anyone's. What defines people is not what happens TO them but what they DO about it. Sadly this has been lost in modern day America.

    Marcel....get up off the sofa!

I don't know. I said earlier, maybe if Kyle and Richie pinned him against a wall and threatened to beat the snot out of him he'd wake up.

  6. Let's start with wins....... The Bills are not a winning team or organization the last 18 years...... Repeat that and we can go somewhere.

The Bills run game is very good, but often padded in those blowouts. When you are down in a game, then it is passing that get's you back in. An 80 yard 10 minute drive when the run game is strong and up 3 (or 7) in the 4th is great. Not so great when down 10 and the clock winding down.

Geez 300 yard passers went 6-0 in week 1...... Are you ignoring that?

Tom Brady threw for over 300 in the SB and won..... Does that count? Sometimes both QB's throw for 300 in a game and one loses, how do you account for that? How about if they got their team back in the game (tied it up) and lost on the last possession, does that account for anything.

Answer this..... Does the threat that a QB can throw for 300 yards a game help or detract from a team?

Whenever people get shown that their opinions may be in error around here, they immediately throw up the 17 years (not 18) of not being in the playoffs as if that somehow justifies their skewed opinions.

So you name week one. And as pointed out earlier in ten games last week where guys threw for over 300 yards only four of them won. So I can cherry pick just as good as you can.

Does the threat that a guy can pass for over 300 yards help or detract? That's ambiguous at best. Tell me how the team is constructed. Tell me how good their defense is. How good is their running game? If you have a team based on a good D and running game, you don't really want to have a guy throwing the ball all over the place.

What wins consistently in the league is balance. You need to have a passing game when the run game isn't going, and vice versa. You need a defense that can stand up and make plays. Last week when the run game wasn't going that well, the D stood up and TT made plays. If TT and the D can play like this on a consistent basis we'll have something. Answer these two questions:

    1. Last year if the D plays anywhere near decently were we a playoff team?

    2. If TT comes out this week and throws for say 325, and Ryan throws for 450 and we lose 41-31, will you blame the D. Or will you just come out here and say it's on TT because he didn't throw for 400. I suspect I already know the answer.

  7. TT is who he is and needs to play 110%. So far in 2017 we've seen 2 good games and one meh game from the offense.

    RE 300 yards -

It is a stat. To those saying 300 yards is no big deal

    TT's better games 230 - 298 = bad games by others top 10 QBs

To those insisting you have to throw for 300 yards to win, and that TT's 230-298 are bad games by other QBs:

    1. What is the quality of the run game and defense of the other teams where it would be a bad game?

    2. Why do you continue to9 ignore the stats about how many teams that threw for 300 or over lose? The stats have been presented in this thread, but why do you choose to ignore them?

    3. Are wins not the way teams are judged, or did I miss something?

  8.

...we call it "damned if you do damned if you don't"......despite my waning years, I seem to remember a 4,000 yd passing season was a pretty good benchmark........so with his new Dennison relationship and hoping it continues to show improvement like last week, we're talking an average of 250 yds per week over 16 games.....why the hell NOT hope the kid can succeed and hit that target?...Buffalo WILL draft a QB in the 2018 1st round regardless......10 wins, a wild card berth and 250 yds/wk average works for me..........but then again, I'm older than dirt.............

You and I remember when football was football

  9. Again the issue is not TT, it is the decision that the team made to get worse in the short term and hope to hit on draft picks.

In particular they took away TT's best receiver from a team that is woeful when it comes to throwing the ball that I blame solely on the OC and game planning.

I want to see TT succeed and want to see the offense be successful. The fact that the team and fans seem so excited about 220 yards passing depresses me. I want to see 300 yards, which TT has NEVER DONE IN REGULATION.......

I know everyone is excited about the D, but let's see how they perform this weekend and conversely how the Offense reacts.

BTW Atlanta does not have a great defense.

    I get excited about wins.

  10. I would prefer they stand. And I definitely did not like Shady ignoring the anthem entirely and doing his stretching. That said, If the owners allow their employees to use this time to stage a peaceful protest I can live with it. Freedom means being able to express one's views, and being able to object when one does so. That kind of freedom is what America is all about.

It takes about 2 minutes to sing the anthem. It does not ruin the game for me that some players choose to kneel silently during that time.

  11. ....anthem has been a staple....remove the politics from its playing and we are back to where we used to be ....a nation of respect, morals, inclusion and tolerance.....the tail cannot wag the dog.....we are in a tailspin as a 3rd rate morally bankrupt society.....

Love you my man but we'll disagree some here. Respect goes different ways. I would prefer players stand during the anthem as a sign of respect. I'd also prefer that those saying guys that earn a lot of money to play football shouldn't be protesting respect that the right to protest has no dollar signs with it.

Morals? Yeah we could use more of that. Starting with a president who repeatedly lies and repeatedly disrespects minorities, women, and yes veterans.

  12.

I love this idea of being offended FOR veterans. Not all veterans care and many that I have talked to support the right to protest but not all. That's the thing everyone can have their opinion on this and even voice it. That is what the flag represents. That is what the anthem represents. I stand and honestly get chills EVERY time I hear (which is quite often due to being a sports official). I don't really care if others do and definitely don't care to get upset on someone else's behalf. That is their right as an American period.

    I agree

It depends which Duff's you are going to. If it's the Orchard Park Duff's, I'M IN!!! (love the waitresses there).

Never been to the OP one. Grew up near Sheridan and worked at the McD's down the street so always went to the one on Sheridan.

  13. I must have missed something. Why are we protesting against veterans

I think what folks are saying is they will boycott these games to support veterans, in that Veteran's Day is the day before and they feel veterans have been disrespected by the protests last week. I suspect each NFL team will be honoring veterans that Sunday, as will I when I see them.

  14. Fair points.

NFL doesn't make it's money on attendance anymore anyway.

I like the idea of standing and singing.

To the OP, you don't have to justify "breaking the boycott". Do whatever you see fit, it is your perogative, and you should not miss an opportunity to see a game with your daughter because others want to boycott.

. Yeah. I was just wondering what others were thinking.
  15. As I said, if you extrapolate 12 games for 3000 yds to a full 16 game season he would be over 4000 yards. Plus, the ESPN stats show that he got better toward the end of the season so if he played those first games instead of EJ, he would have been in his prime by game 6 through 16. He would have easily surpassed 4000 yards and 28 TD's which is Wall-worthy.

It seems some people on here want to reward mediocrity but scoff in the face of gamesmanship and talent. Gone are the days of rewarding success unless that success is packaged in perfect gold wrapping paper with no flaws.

One season is not Wall worthy.
