  1. There was 3 DB's and 1 LB over there on the play. 1 DB and 1 LB on Kupp in a shallow zone. 2 DB's sliding over to Sammy who ran the deeper route.

MY analyses are simplistic, at best? You confused the single deep safety with a !@#$ing linebacker. You had no idea the Bills had a TO left on the biggest offensive play of the day. I think Vince Young would outscore you in the film room. I'd call you an unaware fan, but that would be an insult to unaware fans everywhere.

If Sammy were here and the same coverages were played, how many would say that if he's that good he should beat double coverage? A lot.

  2. The great thing is how well Jauron has aged and it seems his clapping skills have really improved.

What I don't get is how guys get head coach jobs without ever being in that role. No offense to the 7 year old girl's soccer team he coached.

Every HC gets his first HC job at some point. Should have used his timeouts a lot better.

  3. I'm so over the "new owners" excuse. I don't quite agree with your observation only because there are some really crappy owners who've been around a lot longer, but I gave them a D for the Bills. I gave them an F for the Sabres because they've done nothing. The Pegulas are working toward the goal of being the worst, though. As long as they leave Russ Brandon in charge of the teams -- and don't doubt that he is -- neither the Bills nor the Sabres will be better than mediocre because the emphasis will always be at maximizing profits over winning football or hockey games.

Stop with the crap about Brandon. It's ridiculous.

  4. I guess if I truly thought that the information I was getting through the Blitz was that uniquely insightful I'd pony up the money. Not like it would break the bank. I just don't think the insights from some or maybe most of the writers are anything I can't find in other sites.

I like Gaughan. Used to like Vic but he seems to write a lot of stuff now that Seems questionable because he feels pressed to write something every day. I like Sullivan's stuff when it's focused on college things or personal interest but his stuff on the Bills is just tired and old, plus I don't like his childish satire that he believes is good writing. I have no use for Gleason at all. The new woman we'll see.

maybe I'll do the two week trial and see.

  5.

You aren't really comprehending the numbers here. It's like you didn't read anything posted in this thread, nor the link in the original post.

I Have read through the entire thread. Excuse me if I don't necessarily agree. All I ever read about is how papers are looking for hits to their website. Perhaps you can explain your background as you seem to be an expert in the field. If you want me to come around to your line of thinking them explain it better.

  6.

Jerry Sullivan isn't their only columnist. If this is your excuse, then what you are really saying is that you will never pay for content.

And although our site is free to you, it certainly isn't free. It costs $1000s to keep it running every year. Ad supported (no thank you to the ad-blockers out there). But this isn't someone's employment, someone's source of health insurance and there are no professionally trained journalists and editors. So, we can pay our bills. We should not be confused with a newspaper that covers the events of an entire city.

I agree with this. I'm also saying it's time for everyone to pull up their big boy pants and recognize the state of journalism today.

You claimI didn't follow the thread but I posted earlier I would not want to be a jjournalist today. I get that.

If I were still living in WNY I would likely have an online subscription since it would be the best way to keep up with my hometown. Being out of townI like to log on and see what's going on in town but if I miss a day or two it doesn't affect me much.

If the News is hurting for revenue then why do they have so many columnists covering sports? It's nice they do so I guess but that would be an easy place to cut expenses.

  7.

Constant negativity about a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in 17 years? Got it. I'm sure their negative takes have been completely unrealistic in the face of unparalleled success.

"I'm not giving them my $3."

I'm quoting this just for how hilarious it sounds. Today I had a $2 bottle of water at the mall and debated a $2.95 lemon square for dessert.

Yeah, the NEW sports editor probably doesn't want to hear from the readership.

and maybe you just aren't following closely enough, but those who are depending on the online ads are bleeding money, laying off people or going out of business. Maybe you haven't followed anything that has been written in this thread.

I don't pretend to be an expert in this area. But the new editor will likely get a message if few people spend the dollars to get this extra stuff. Or if the website hits go down by a lot.

  8. I understand the world of media is changing rapidly. I would not want to be a writer in today's environment. At some point the newspaper you hold in your hand will disappear and everything found on your choice of device.

For the News and other papers to survive they'll have to depend on the online ads. If the News ever goes to online subscriptions only I'll make my decision then, as I will when SI and others magazines I've read for years do so. But right now I can keep up with the Bills without paying for the blitz; given that plus what I perceive as often poorly written commentary it's just not worth it. Maybe I should write their editor, but I suspect they are mostly concerned with how many folks are responding (either positive or negative) as it means there are interested folks out there. Best way to send a message is to just not hit the site

  9. I don't really consider TO a Bill but he should get in. May not for a while because if his crap through the years.

Brown should get in, 9 ProBowl years.

Tasked should be top of the list but won't ever get in because the voters refuse to acknowledge anything but kickers for the Hall, and even then rarely.

Hull was under appreciated but won't get near enough buzz.

  10. A lot of old men yelling at clouds here, as it always is when ESPN comes up.

Things change. They can't just run highlights for 10 hours a day anymore, you can get all the highlights you care about on demand in less than 10 minutes. There's a segment of the audience that loves the Stephen A. hot takery, I've never gotten it but it does well. If you want your old school bland sports talk show, Mike & Mike still crank it out daily.

Maybe ESPN is tired of giving the NFL hours of advertising and millions (billions) of dollars for garbage Monday night football games. Maybe interest in the NFL is declining precipitously and ESPN is trying to appeal to a broader audience. Want NFL coverage? Watch NFL net, they've been doing a better job than ESPN for almost a decade at this point. It's an on demand society, there's a podcast out there for any in-depth individual topic one may want able to be downloaded and listened to whenever your time allows. The belief that Espn should air non-stop highlights while two guys crack bad jokes is incredibly out of touch.

Maybe. But my understanding is ratings are down. So they are alienating old fans and not attracting young fans.

  11. So you completely ignore the whole second half of my post where I'm explaining my stance rationally and not at all posting in black and white generalizations and your contention is that I'm not really reading what has been posted?

Ok bud, again you're projecting your exact actions on everyone else and not taking any accountability. That's not a discussion, that's you automatically deciding that everyone else is in the wrong and you're Mr. Objectivity.

That wasn't at all the case when you first starting posting in the thread and telling people with a differing opinion they were flat out wrong without contributing any counter points of your own.

    .

I completely agree there should be a meeting in the middle

  12. The coach knows what was supposed to happen. If Glenn was supposed to push his defender and create a throwing lane for TT they are probably focused on fixing that. Taylor drifted left and wasted a good lane so that would also be mention.

Good play call just have to execute better. Bottom line is he hit a pass catcher in the hands so Clay will admit he needs to make that play.

Hadn't considered Glenn's role in this.
