And? Did you watch the game?Kyle Williams on Marcell Dareus trade: "I think it was best for both sides." Mentioned Dareus needed a fresh start.
Lorenzo Alexander shocked by Marcell Dareus trade. Eric Wood says there was disconnect between Dareus and new regime. #Bills

Again you're not going to get away with 165 yds every week. I'll take the win but this is not going to cut it every week. As a matter of fact it will cause our run game to go into problems again until Tyrod proven he can beat you through the air
You apparently have a need to draw attention to yourself. You got it. Now stop.
-
The old guard of this board simply doesn't get it.
Hold on now! I'm an old fart and I'm fine with Dareus leaving.
-
That's being a troll?. I'm starting facts.
Learn the difference between facts and opinions
-
Cook blatantly pushes the defender off- no penalty
Guy slips behind Matthews- offensive pass interference
-
Well, that's why I'm not a coach. Gutsy call.
-
Kick it. Make them come up with three scores.
-
Run D is really suffering isn't it?
-
Would coleman or any street FA be worth a double dogit cap hit?
No. Because your premise that it would is absolutely ridiculous.
-
Wrong it is a very true and correct way. You had Dareus on this team for his Sunk cost contract.
You chose to fet rid of him causing still 10M plus to be assigned right now to No other DT. So essentially paying 10M for nada to help the Dt rotation.
You sign a new DT to fill Dareus spot in the rotation you are assigning double digit cap hit to a lesser player.
So just remember that people that say Dareus wasnt worth his cap hit
No ****. So when his replacement is signed you now have that replacement as the vaule of his contract plus the dead money
Your error is insisting a guy like Coleman would be a lesser player. If Dareus brought it every play he would be. But Dareus doesn't and that's why he's gone.
And before you start with your stacking crap, Scott showed the last game the majority of the time he was single teamed.
-
I still feel like we should have gotten at least a 3rd or 4th for him.
Let's Go Buffalo!!!!!
You can only get what people are willing to give.
-
You are STILL Paying Darues. So whichever player you sign to replace Dareus his dead money counts as how much is spent on said player. That is SUNK COST
So will the player that Bills sign to replace Darues be worth double digit cap hit this year?
And a double digit cap hit next year as well??
Yes they lose dead money to get rid of a dead player. But save some they can use on a live player.
-
Here we go with the sunk cost. Now you are paying much less of a player over 10M in cap.
So say they re-sign the cut again DT in Coleman now you are giving Coleman 12M against the cap this year and add the replacement next year to 14.5M and that is his real number
Coleman getting 12 million? What are you talking about?

I didn't say mistreated.
When he signed his contract, it was after a season in which he had 9 sacks and was a VISIBLE dominant force.
That wasn't his role in Rex Ryan's defense, but that didn't mean he wasn't playing well. It was just less flashy.
He endures two years of that ass hole and in comes McDermott. I like McDermott, but he's been a dick to Dareus since the day he got hired.
Dareus continued to do what he was asked to do.
Did he really? Come on now.
And since when is a coach asking a player to live by rules he demands of all his players mean the coach is a dick?
Maybe McNair is right. The inmates shouldn't run the asylum.
-
Indeed, some people are so blind that they are clueless and are quick to call others clueless while they attempt to justify a ridiculous trade.
Thanks.
You have visions of the pre-contract Dareus in your head. It's fine to say let him play for two years. But when you can't count on his motivation to play every game, at an exorbitant cost, it's a problem.
He'll say all the right things inJville then notperform and/or get suspended. Watch.
-
When he was put in, he did the job that was asked of him.
Like I said, he's not perfect and I was happy with what Beane did. But Dareus got !@#$ed in Buffalo, in my opinion.
He's had coaches try to coddle him and coaches that demand more of him. And for that he got a 100 million dollar contract.
How exactly is he mistreated?
-
Just wait for to be fired in 3 years. Can't win in this league without talent, unless you have HOF QB.
Not just Dareus. It has been countless amounts of talent out the door since these guys have got here.
Sent Sammy out. He's a decoy in LA. Sent Gilmore out. Played terrible before he got hurt. J Willis isn't playing. Cardele sits. And we'll see with Dareus. Meantime guys like Hyde and Poyerare doing great for us.
They might just know more than you.
-
Since then, he's had Rex Ryan, followed by a coach who made it clear that he hated his guts from day he got hired.
I'm not saying Dareus is perfect. But he's been dealt a pretty raw !@#$ing deal, if you ask me.
I feel for him for his personal stuff he's gone through. But under three coaching staffs he's been busted for drug use, suspended, sent home for being late, hasn't produced much on the field.
When exactly is it his problem?
-
Trading Glenn would be my last straw with Beane.
Glenn is a top 10 OT in this league. His pay is not even that high (look at what guys got in FA). You don't mess with O line talent, it is such a hot commodity.
Enough of this crap with getting rid of talent because they were not picked by you.
So what are you going to do? Fire him?
Again, Dareus is a talent when? Before he signed his big deal. Since then he's not been different than most any other DT.
-
You listen to Sal and the fans yesterday and they immediately jumped to Dareus not fitting in, being a bad example, too much salary, not buying into "the system" - fans calling up and talking about McDermott has changed the culture and direction. 100% support the move.
I do agree that the team works harder than under Ryan, that it's more about the team, and doing your job.
But they are 4-2, not 8-2. Basically we've seen this model of gutting talented players who make money before with McDaniels Broncos, Mangini's Browns. That's what Beane has done here. Saving numerous large contracts, at the expense of top talent. We better hope that 2018 is a Draft for the ages.
It's really early to say Beane and McDermott have turned it around when this team has paper thin depth everywhere. As the year gets deeper, the intensity picks up, injuries mount and this is where the Bills usually fade. They now have next to nothing to show for the last 7 Drafts outside of the 2017 Draft.
I think people need to get off this "top talent" stuff when talking about Dareus. Before he signed his big deal, he showed top talent play. But since? No.
The three biggest deals thus far are Sammy, Gilmore, and Dareus. Sammy is a decoy in LA, Gilmore was playing poorly in NE before he got hurt. Now we'll see about Dareus. But maybe, just maybe, McD and Beane know what they're doing.

Let me rephrase:
You do understand getting a sack isn't the only "good play" one can make in the team's pass rush scheme? Right?
If you didn't mean to say that, I'm sorry. I can't read your mind.
EDIT: As with offensive linemen, many (most?) of the good plays defensive linemen make aren't reflected in the stats. They also go relatively unnoticed by the average fan.
Yes I get that. Sorry I wasn't more clear. But in that case was Dareus really doing anything the other arts weren't?
That was me that you responded to and I think you missed the point.
-
You do realize sacks aren't the only "good plays" a DT can make. Right?
Someone above asked if he had an impact on pass rush. I answered. And also mentioned run D in the post I revised. Read what people actually post before commenting.
-
I will revise my statement in that I think he had a sack against TB. But you don't pay what he was being paid for an occasional good play.
-
run wise I suppose I do expect a drop off because we really dont have a run plugger like Marcel on the team at the moment.
when the raiders run on us I am sure it will get brought up a lot......but just remember....our pass rush wasnt that great against tampa and that is what you REALLY need from your DT's....they need to push the pocket and make the qb uncomfortable.
Was Marcel actually doing that for us? It is a simple yes or no question.
Pass rush? Don't think he was having much effect. Run D? Some argue he played mostly early downs, but watching games to me it seems our run D is strong regardless of the line rotation.

Dareus traded to Jacksonville!
