i think he plays hard. I dont think he prepares hard.
Perhaps. They came in, gave him a clean slate, and he didn't show up.
-
Bills forever spinning their wheels. Create holes just to have to fill the created holes.
There is never any progress
Now need another DT in offseason so instead on one you now need two.
Need a plethora of WRs
Still need OG likely two
A QB
RB is also a big need
DBs still a need
Toss some LBers in there.
Win Sunday they can be first in the division. But no progress. Right.
-
Suspending him for what?
Not wanting to play hard.
-
Shaq has been a ghost
Sets the edge very well.
-
They didn't suspend him, but he will be inactive for their game on Sunday.
There you go. So I guess we should have just kept suspending Dareus and pay him huge bucks to sit? That would make sense.
-
Yes and said that they arent trading him. They arent going to sell low. They are trying to get him back engaged and let him help down the stretch. He is a WAY bigger headache than Dareus.
Who are you getting with $2M and a 6th round pick that make it worthwhile? Id take Dareus over that through next year all day.
Then it's good you're not a GM. Taking an unmotivated guy at a very high cap rate is no way to build a winning team.
Face it. Several different coaches now, guys with different styles from Marrone to Rex to Sean. Different defensive schemes and DCs. And he simply does not show evidence of getting it. So spare me the bit about how it's the coaches that are responsible for motivating him. Coughlin will destroy this kid.
-
Exactly, Pittsburgh is doing it with Martavis Bryant right now.
Yeah. They suspended him didn't they?
-
I wouldnt have cut him after this year either. Im not sure whats confusing? The out was AFTER 2018. I would have tried to trade him then and if not cut him.
Keeping unmotivated guys is a horrible way to try and build a team. Take the financial hit this year and next, use the money saved to get players, and move on.

I agree. IMO, McDermott and his figurehead Beane are throwbacks to the Jauron years when Jauron and his figurehead Levy got rid of whatever talent the Bills had in order to replace them with JAGs and STers who "bought into their system". Watch it happen. We've already seen it happen with the WRs where talented WRs with NFL caliber skillsets were moved out to be replaced by other WRs with skillsets more in tune with McDermott/Beane's requirements ... whatever they might be. Dropping passes? Being unable to get open? Not being deep threats? Playing for cheap?
And win Sunday and leading the division?
Face it, their moves are working.
-
They would cut him at the end of the year.
I hear your point but you can't tell me the Bills are a better team today without Dareus
Watch me. The Bills are a better team without Dareus.
-
What games Rams' games have you watched this season to see whether he's getting open or not?
Goff has missed him on several occasions when he's been open down field.
Several. So maybe 3-4 passes in 6 games or so. Still very unimpressive.
-
Lawson is doing fine. Does very well vs. the run
-
gase and the Dolphins will make the playoffs before this coaching staff ever does
You may look silly come January.
-
What Rams' games have you watched?
I've watched some of each game just to see how Sammy is doing. Other than the Niners he's not doing much at all. Elite guys need to do more than be a decoy.
-
Stop the silly hyperbole and talk about what they actually contribute at their respective positions.
Watkins may be a decoy, but he's not going to get paid anywhere near what he wants being a decoy. Maybe he's just not as good as we all thought. Darby is hurt. And Dareus is a classic underperformer
-
It has nothing to do with what they would have gotten and everything to do with the cost associated with getting rid of him.
Yeah they take a bit of a hit. But they save a few million vs. having a guy not interested getting paid a ton and taking up a roster spot.
-
Im not against getting rid of Dareus. You either had to get good value or keep him through next year. The Bills didnt do that. Those were your 2 options.
Your assumption they'd have gotten more later is erroneous one must assume. Or they would have done so.
People in the league see what goes on with players. Got what they could for a guy that doesn't seem interested in football.
-
You know, I've only been thinking about this for 15 minutes so this might not be right, but...I agree with you.
There's a lot of people trusting the ever living sh** out of the process right now, but honestly, this is a bad trade. It's not bad because we got rid of Dareus on the cheap and "got rid of" his massive contract, it's bad because there was a greater value in having Dareus for the final 10 games of the season than a 6th round pick. Beane couldn't figure out to get rid of him for more than a 6th? Fine, looks like we'll have to keep him and call teams again in the offseason. The savings were not great enough to do it mid-season like this. We are going to be hurt by Dareus no matter what, and he's a better player on the field than his issues and contract problems if we're talking about only a 6th in return.
What if his performance continues to be an issue? Or he gets another suspension? Make the deal and move on. Too bad he couldn't figure it out. And if our ex-Marine DL coach couldn't get him to figure it out you think Marrone and Coughlin will?
He signed a big contract and turned into a tub of goo.
-
Please re-read my OP. There is NOTHING AT ALL that points to race.
This is worse than what Sony put George Michael through. And no ... not because he may/may not have been gay.
You really do not understand the concept of a contract.
-
They figured out what they doing right and fixed it. They had a winning model with Sports Center and personalities like Dan Patrick, Kenny Mayne, Olbermann, etc. Then they messed it up.
-
Or in first by Sunday night.
-
I hope the day never comes in which someone shatters your dreams. I wouldn't wish this hell on anyone.
You're not saying that somehow Boldin is having his dreams shattered, are you? I mean, that would be ridiculous.
-
If anything the Bills are being generous. They told his agent to go ahead and work something out that works for his client. The Bills could have told him he plays for the Bills or no one. Or that the Bills would shop him themselves.
-
No. It's just the Bills and Boldin. Not you, me, or anyone else. You think you're a pretty important dude, I see.
There you go again, making this into something that it isn't. And don't wrap KD into your little world; he didn't ask for it.
You understand your view is misguided, don't you?

Dareus traded to Jacksonville!

I'm speaking from a coach and not fan perspective. Get a clue.
They had to send him home from a preseason game. He was losing snaps. Either suspend him or they could have just made him inactive every game andceat his salary. And would make no sense.
