Nice game but Allen needs to pass
oldmanfan replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's a rookie QB that has played about six games now. HE's showing progress. Still a lot of work to be done but had a good game yesterday. Is it Ok to be happy about that? -
[Name Only Title] Wyatt Teller?
oldmanfan replied to Dave Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has a ways to go but promising at this point. By the way, anyone notice Miller got pulled for Groy after his holding penalty? Assuming Teller can hold down a spot next year, we still need a better C and RG, either through FA or draft. -

Anyone else nervously excited about tomorrow's game?
oldmanfan replied to mozillameister's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excited to watch my team. Like every week. Excited to see what Allen does. Excited to see how Daboll uses the speed he has now in the receiving corps. Excited to watch our D. Excited to watch Edmunds and Milano continue to develop. Excited to see if Hughes takes Flowers apart. And excited to see if they win. Save your puerile high school coach junk for somewhere else. Save your negativism for elsewhere. It's game time. Root for your team. -

Always excited to watch a Bills game. But nervous? No -
Who recalls this game from Thanksgiving in 1976?
oldmanfan replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Blah, blah, blah. Yes the past few years have been frustrating. But in none of those years were the Bills anywhere near as bad as some of us older fans remember. And since you feel the need to bring the Sabres up so you can wallow in your misery, they made some bad decisions, but now seem to have figured it out. Unless a 7 win streak is bad. You see, us older, more mature folks are able to deal wth things better than your generation. The younger generation that gets participation trophies and has their helicopter parents and their cell phones think they should have everything they want exactly the way they want and exactly when they want it has trouble understanding there are ups and downs in life. Bills made the playoffs last year. They have drafted their hopeful QB of the future and have a structure in place to continue to build a contender. As do the Sabres. Good to see. -

So many great ones. Sanders was incredible. -

Bo was great. I've seen many great ones over the years. I always tend to divide them into two types: more physical and more elusive. Bo, Earl Campbell and of course Jim Brown in the former group. OJ, Sanders, Sayers, Dickerson, and Dorset the latter. Then the guys kind of in between: Payton, Emmitt Smith, Thurman. if you want to pick one guy in the open field that could cut, elude guys, and run like the wind, it was OJ Can you imagine if this board existed for those years? -

Yep. Recall it well. As much as OJ is now a complete degenerate, I have never seen a better runner. -

Given the Keys to Draft How Would U Drive The Car ?
oldmanfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree to a point. Getting an athletic bigger WR would be helpful, but they realized they needed to add speed and they did, that's for sure. Like you idea about using he lower round picks to move up. Linemen would be my focus there. -

Given the Keys to Draft How Would U Drive The Car ?
oldmanfan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade down if possible. The best guys are on the defensive side so I'd draft an edge guy to augment pass rush in round 1. Then focus on O line; try to get a top C or RT. Look for a WR then. If I come out of the draft with an edge guy , starting C, and a WR I feel great. -
Put this in another thread. Five years from now you'lll have 11 guys on D that will cover or blitz from anywhere on the field. Guys like Milano and Edmunds will be highly valued. Guys like Kyle won't be in the league. And then offenses will have to adapt. And likely by getting back to pounding the ball on the ground. Anyone remember our first Super Bowl? Belichick had a couple down linemen and had his DBs just keep guys in front of them and punish them when they got the ball? An innovative coach could do something similar and slow these offenses down right now.
-
Perhaps you missed the part about unless a guy gets hurt. Only time he changed other than that was Peterman. News flash: just because you think you're the smartest kid in the room does not mean you're the smartest kid in the room.
-
The HC says he's the starter. Starters start. Unless they're hurt. Simple.
-
Allen starts for one simple reason: he's the starting QB for the team.
-
Five years from now innovative defensive minds will have figured out they need to have 11 guys that can cover and blitz from any spot on the field. The large defensive linemen who anchor will be relics. Guys like Milano and Edmunds will be worth their weight in gold. And then offenses will have to figure out how to adjust. Probably by going back to pounding the ball.

There is no way we will beat the Jaguars

If it's OK with the OP I think I'll still watch the game. -
