https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/11/01/talk-in-new-england-that-josh-gordons-work-ethic-was-a-concern/ If any of this is true, I will be surprised if the Bills put in a claim for Gordon (not saying I wouldn’t. I’d be happy if they did).

https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1861471/in-krueger-they-trust-have-the-white-hot-sabres-finally-turned-the-corner In Krueger they trust: Have the white-hot Sabres finally turned the corner? It’s a really good article. As for this part above, I sure hope he’s right! If the Sabres fan keep playing the way they’ve been on most nights and keep banking points even on some of their off nights, they have a chance at making it as a wildcard team. But my fear is that eventually their lack of forward depth catches up with them. Even if they just miss the playoffs it would be a vast improvement though.

The Pegulas bought the Sabres in 2011 and the Bills in 2014. Gleason and Sullivan were around until 2018. 7 years of Sabres coverage. 4 years of Bills coverage. What triggered all of this is the Buffalo News had their 1st quarter in the red in 40+ years at the start of 2018 (lost $1.8M) and made a bunch of changes. Gleason and Sullivan weren’t the only ones to take buyouts and leave. John Vogl did. So did Tim Graham. Both Gleason and Sullivan has their columns taken away, but were offered other jobs at the news. Bucky decided to take the buyout and leave, then Jerry decided to follow (though he said he was considering taking the new position until Bucky left). Heres a couple good links covering it - https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/6/22/17488972/what-really-happened-buffalo-news-sports-2018-tim-graham-jerry-sullivan-bucky-gleason-john-vogl http://www.dailypublic.com/articles/05152018/ups-and-downs-week-may-16 (this one has the letter from Buffalo News editor mike Connelly explaining all of the changes coming. It’s at the bottom of the article) They also got lots of letters about Gleason and Sullivan from fans saying that they wouldn’t subscribe to the BN unless they were gone. The BN’s new sports editor was even posting over here for a while (Josh Barnett). it wasn’t some Pegula shake down. Also, didn’t the Bills just give Jerry Sullivan press credentials again (with his new gig)? I swear he was at a press conference recently, asking questions.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/10/28/baker-mayfield-bemoans-lack-of-accountability-and-discipline/amp/?__twitter_impression=true Baker Mayfield bemoans lack of accountability and discipline The part in bold seems like it could potentially rub some guys the wrong way, especially after the way Mayfield has been playing lately, and with how much outside noise he himself has brought in (between all his commercials, interviews, magazine covers and headline grabbing quotes, etc).

Well, I think it’s pretty safe for the Browns to cancel any plans they had for a Super Bowl parade... lol

Wow. Awful series for the offense there. Play calling was bad too. -

I think the most alarming thing about the Miami game, and now this Philly game, is the way our defense is playing. -

Good article on Sobotka: https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/sabres-sobotka-making-good-impression-his-team He really has improved so far this season. He’s playing like the guy I used to watch in STL before he left for the KHL. I remember when he left, saying “ah man that sucks for St. Louis”. I hope he continues to play like this.

Playing Halo. ? I agree with everything you said. But Id like to add one thing to that “Buffalo was a year ahead of Toronto” narrative. When that was said, it was assumed that Toronto was going to do a complete tear down rebuild like Buffalo had done. But then they lucked into hiring Babcock and changed course. They went with a re-tool, keeping a number of key pieces. So they had a much smaller hole to dig themselves out of than Buffalo. The Sabres tore the team down to a level that isn’t seen very often. Im not taking anything away from the leafs rebuild. I’m just saying it wasn’t as complete a tear down as our. Toronto made a lot of smart decisions (more of them than Buffalo did!). There was definitely some luck involved too. They won the draft lottery in their only year finishing last and were also lucky that a true #1 franchise center like Auston Matthews was the prize. Hiring Babcock was also a huge boon to their rebuild. He came in and changed that culture pretty much on day 1. Had Toronto missed out on hiring Babcock and went with Guy Boucher instead (they almost did because they thought they were out on Babs, then apparently his wife said no to buffalo, or so the story goes...) and got Laine in the draft instead of Matthews, I wonder where they’d be at right now? Would Tavares have left the NYI for Toronto? Would they be a powerhouse? Doubtful. Again, I’m not taking anything away from the leafs rebuild. There’s usually some luck involved in building a good team.

Buffalo was the only team that offered a 1st for Lehner. Everyone knew they Had To trade a goalie. They had 3 starting caliber goalies, none of which were waiver exempt. Peter Chiarelli (a terrible GM who’s made some of the worst trades in recent NHL history) was shopping for a starting goaltender that offseason, and he later said that he was unwilling to give up a 1st for Lehner. His offer topped out at a 2nd round pick. The picks we traded away in that 2015 draft still piss me off to this day. That was the deepest NHL draft since the historic 2003 draft. If you look at the players available at picks #21, 25 and 31, the Sabres could have been stacked for the next decade if they hit on those picks (and I know it’s not guaranteed that we would have).
