But meanwhile, look at that lonely goatherd - I mean, TE.  Yeah, he's not far from the LOS, but he's got enough real estate around him that I bet he could move the sticks. (that's Logan Thomas).

I could be wrong, but I think Mayfield sees it, and Rosen sees it.

I wouldn't criticize that play in particular. I have no faith that Logan Thomas gets the 1st there.

I wanted ESB from Notre Dame in the 6th.  We drafted undersized slot wrs.

He has a total of 3 catches for 89 yards, with Aaron Rodgers as the QB and a banged up WR corps around him. You can't really complain about our drafts so far. Which round did you want Tre'Davious White? How about Matt Milano, where was he on your big board?

If the Bills FO trades their ONLY offensive player that has any chance to make a defense game plan for, then they should just be truthful to the fanbase and openly admit that the the current goal in 2018 is not to win games.

McDermort basically has said that. He has said over and over again that we are a young team learning how to win, and sometimes you have to experience pain to make it. They're not going to come right out and say they're trying to lose, because they're not, but their primary goal the past 2 seasons has not been to win as many games as possible. Next year that changes. Right now any move that builds for the future is going to take precedence over a move that wins a game this year.

First off, they ran the same play with zero success at least 3 times where Allen rolls out to his right with dump off passes in front of him and the TE drags across the field.  It was covered every single time.

Yeah they need to stop calling that play. It never works. I don't think it's led to a single completion this year and if it has it wasn't for a 1st. But other than that I don't necessarily have a problem with Daboll. Our interior line is terrible, our receiving group is the worst in the league, and our best TE is old and slow and banged up. The All-22 shows receivers coming open a fair amount but Allen doesn't always see them or sometimes his passes are just off. Daboll can't control that. We do seem to run a more modern offense at least. I'm giving the whole offense a mulligan for this year but next year I definitely need to see more. If Allen can develop even into a game manager, with this defense we could be serious contenders next year.

I would argue that without Shady we don't win last Sunday, and would further argue that running that four minute offense, and going down the field for the win, using all of the time, was invaluable experience for Allen.

Whatever value he got from that is outweighed by whatever help we could get him with a 3rd or 2nd round pick. But realistically I don't see it happening anyways. If it does happen it will be right before the trade deadline with the Bills out of the playoff race and the Eagles feeling like they're contenders again. A lot of things would have to go right (or in our case wrong) for that scenario to happen.

I think Clayton pretty much nailed what is McCoy's actual trade value. I don't think Buffalo will trade him for that though. Probably need a 3rd without strings attached to get it done from Buffalo's end even though McCoy probably isn't worth that anymore.

Yeah if we are asking for a 2nd and 3rd that means it isn't happening. That's an offer you throw out because you aren't serious about trading him.

They've had arguably the best defense in the NFL since halftime of the Chargers game.

Belichick's teams do this all the time. They start out looking like they've finally started their decline for a couple games before suddenly turning it on after week 2 or so. I hope we can get the offense figured out because McDermott is the best defensive coach we've had during the drought, no contest. Even if Allen busts I would be inclined to keep McDermott and Beane.

That guy didn’t blame the INT on Josh, did he?

No he only talked about maybe 5 plays, and his analysis of those plays is fair. This really shouldn't surprise anyone. Allen was considered extremely raw. It's going to take a season for him to develop even in the most optimistic scenario. The one thing that disappoints me is I thought he made progress against Minnesota and now we're back to square one. I think defenses are keeping a spy on him now so he needs to get better with his pocket movement. He bails too early and he isn't reading coverages post-snap yet. But it's still really early and no one, including Joe Marino, is saying he can't improve.

I agree with this title.  He is struggling but I'm not panicking yet because I expected this.  He wasn't supposed to start.  The game looks too fast for him.

I just want to see baby steps as the season progresses.

Right even the people that thought he was worth the 1st overall pick didn't think he would look good this year, certainly not right away. The author of this article agrees the only way he'll learn is by making these mistakes and reviewing the film.

  10. Don't shoot the messenger.

In reviewing the All-22 game tape of Allen’s performance against Tennessee, it becomes clear that he needs a lot of work on basic concepts. I’m not breaking out his egregious interception against Green Bay to highlight his flaws, I am going to detail relatively simple reps where more should be expected from Allen.

While it’s crystal clear that Allen isn’t “ready” to be starting on Sundays, it’s the best thing for him to be playing. Being exposed to the game action and working through the tape with the Bills’ coaching staff is invaluable. He has to play and be coached through it. Mental reps from the sideline aren’t going to help Allen overcome his shortcomings when the ball is snapped.

Nothing mentioned in this analysis has a thing to do with Allen’s supporting cast — rather, much of it shows how the supporting cast is limited by Allen. Allen is the worst thing about Buffalo’s offense right now, and he has to get better. That said, he deserves time to develop — both things are true.

The highs and lows of Josh Allen won’t just be game to game; they’ll be snap to snap. He has a long way to go, but this is the guy McDermott and GM Brandon Beane believed in to fill Buffalo’s long-standing hole at quarterback. Now it’s up to McDermott and his staff to develop him.

  11. I feel like this point should be obvious, but Allen is not considered a finished product right now. He was seen as the most raw of the top 4 QBs. He wasn't drafted for what he can do now, he was drafted for his long term potential. This is why the comparisons to Josh Rosen don't work. Rosen was drafted as essentially a finished product. He might already be at his ceiling. Cardinals fans should be much more concerned about his game yesterday than we should be about any game Allen has this year. This whole season is Allen's orientation to the NFL - he'll take his lumps, make some bad passes, get accustomed to NFL game speed, and hopefully come out at the end of the season with a better understanding of being a pro QB. Tyrod got worse every year he started. If Allen is still making the same mistakes a year from now we will have good reason to be concerned.
