If Delay is thrown under the bus it will not change the fact that he redistricted Texas in such a way that Dems will be a long time regaining House leadership. Washington politics is a tough business. Delay's departure will actually help Republicans. Be careful what you hope for because only the names change.

Bush committed to cutting deficit
beausox replied to John Adams's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Does it matter? A trade is a trade. We trade dollars for goods. If the value of the goods justifies the price paid then our outflow $,s equals value of commodity. Poor nations trade raw material for dollars with us all the time. We continue to get richer and they remain underdeveloped. Not to even mention the disparity in service/finance we enjoy. Foreign countries and investors will always favor US markets and financial instruments because we dont expropriate companies. -
OhMyGod I agree. That come to think of it is perhaps the ultimate insult.

Regardless of how one feels about the War in Iraq the worst mistake is a date certain for anything whether victory or retreat.

Thank you for your kind reply. I think you have Ignatius Loyola confused with someone else. -

Since you and the crapster never post anything other than ad hominem attacks your readership will not be missed. -
Tis the rooster taking credit for the sun's rising. Crossfire was in part, in part, in part a victim of CNN's dwindling, nay, plummeting ratings. Stewart has a remarkably large following whom it turns out do not bother to vote for which Stewart is not responsible but it does speak to a kind of empty value to his product. After all Stewarts appearance and the resulting fame of his appearance on Crossfire was his most rememberable appearance. I find him hilarious. My question is the audience must be politically hip in order to get the joke but then the audience does not vote? Who was the other "host" Stewart skewered?

Filibuster Lions vs. Christians

Confusing you would be so much more fun but for its ease. Answer to (a): some of the extreme christian right would. Further, GWB is a man of faith. He seems to believe that he is a vehicle of the Lord. You seem to fear anything that smacks of religion and I must admit GWB gives reason for you to be concerned. The idea that I would protect you from the Christian thought police is a lie. I would revel as they tore you limb from limb a la Christian martyrs. -

Duh! I never would have thought that by virtue of winning a majority in the House and Senate and re-electing a President who has engaged us in an unpopular war that perhaps that might amount to a mandate from heaven. But not to worry I will protect you when the thought police come to your door! -
Has El-Al had a hijacking since Entebbe? "They" tell me it takes up to 3 hours to get on board but it seems it might be worth the wait and inconvenience.

The days of comfortable national insularity are over. The "lighter" rule lends itself to mockery except when and if a radiological bomb is detonated in America and then our "freedom" will be severely restricted.

The first two questions were rhetorical. They were my questions. They did not come from your text. It seems you should take some of your own advice. Apparently I overestimated your intellect -

England and France lost nearly 4 million dead in a causus belli they were complicit. Lloyd George and Clemenceau were in need of a scapegoat and thus insisted upon German war guilt. It was the first time in European history such a demand was made. As for Japan i do not know. -

In WWII what reparations were there? Indeed what is the name of the treaty we signed with Germany? In Japans case MacArthur wrote their constitution. This may be because we demanded unconditional surrender( and Hiroshima was proof of our resolve). As such no apology asked; no apology given. Japan is "different " from the German situation because it was done by American diktat and Allied Sectors were not a question because Russia took 45 years to vacate! -

Prior to WWI apologies for war were that you paid for your transgression in cash or land. No apology needed. Might made right. That may be due to the fact that most wars were dynastic or Imperial . As such they did not have to "sell" the war to the people as 20th century democracies have to. The good news is that to date I cannot think of when two democracies has gone to war against one another. The bad news is that not every nation is a democracy -
DeLay's not only Representative

Most of the politico's are actually hoping that this whole thing goes away despite how much they loathe Delay. Reporters start rooting around the cellar and no telling what they would find. As far as I know employing family in such a manner is not illegal. I do know that the late great James Michael Curley, who ran and often successfully( once FROM his jail cell!) for every city, state(Ma) and federal office imaginable, did so in the days when political contributions were legally made to the candidate who could use them as he/she wished. The novel "The Last Hurrah" by Edwin O'Connor I think, is pure fiction because it is in the fiction section of the library but bears stunning resemblance to {Curley's} final campaign. Parenthetically "All The Kings Men" {Robert Penn Warren} is also a work of political fiction that somehow reminds us of Huey Long. -
A communion wafer , considered by Catholics to be the body and blood of Christ, which was consecrated by JPII was sold recently via ebay. The purchaser was a Cathoilc who wished to take it off the market. Are there any Catholics out there who care or will this post be twisted by the anti-Catholics? {Edit} Sorry I cannot provide proper linky thingy's cause i dont know how. Go to "gazetteonline" or "siouxcityjournal " or "TheOmahaChannel" or simply google ebay and holy communion. I wonder if this is newsworthy.

Dan Brown, Da Vinci Code, Catholicism

Can too! Obverse ( obvertere,L) to turn toward; Converse,(convertere,L) to turn around. The former means the most conspicuous of two possible cases or the counterpoint of a proposition obtained by exchanging the affirmative for the negative quality of the whole proposition and then negating the predicate. I'm sure you now understand because it is not a lot unlike how you act in concert.
