Astro's "Pick-Six" Discussing the upcoming 2020 Bills Draft
MAJBobby replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have him as a Tier 1 (1st round grade) LBer and a Tier 2 (2nd round grade) Edge -
why am I extending them? Ooo I am not I don’t need to right now. and I am NOT going to resign Poyer he is going to want to be in the 10+M safety club. And a scheme that is so safety Friendly I am not paying two safeties and I drafted a player and kept him on the roster the entire season for a reason. I bet it isn’t to replace Hyde. White has 2 more years no reason to rush their re-signings. last year was different? But what about the first year giving 10M to Star? what about the wanting to trade for AB or OBJ. Eventually people will start taking GM lip service as just that

that is what is valued in that area according to Astros Rankings. And yes I also see Chaisson as a reach at 22 as an Edge -

ok I get what you are thinking. However Drafts never change for me. It is always about the Future more than the present. the Present is addressed in UFA. I think he can do what Metcalf did in year one. And if he does that Bills are making a run again -
Jacob Hollister/TE - FA Option

he will get a chance to prove he belongs during camp as an EFRA he will get to camp. But to plan on the Son In Law answering a need would be irresponsible -
losing Lorax hurts the ST unit more than it does Defense. Bills where in nickle over 60% of the time. Higher clip than Most teams. they can fill his spot with a normal LBer. now as just an DE ok. I like what Lorax stood for but in terms of on the field based on last year will not be hard to replace.

just give him the Original Round Tender. There might be a team that will give the contract and a 3rd. a 2nd or 1st tenders and he isn’t going anywhere

that is what I was trying to get at. I wanted to see your scouting Bias. So Shenault is getting downgraded because he played for Colorado -

yeah that is why the “injury prone” stuff gets funny to me. Henry tore and ACL (happens a lot in football) and Broke a bone. big deal it isn’t like he is chronically dealing with some degenerative stuff or soft tissue injuries -
yeah that is what I am thinking 1st year fully guaranteed (the AAV on that year might be 13M) and the second year maybe a Club Option. Only way you are gonna get him at the 9M AAV is multiple years yes they can sign whoever they want this offseason and still work their roster build. sign Yannick Sign Henry Sign Shaq cut Murphy (there is Shaw’s Contract) Cut Kroft and Smith (there is Henry’s contact) and guess what that is still 70M in 2020 space

So he is an RFA. let’s look at the scenarios (if they put a tender on him the new Browns FO very well may not) 1st Round - NO FREAKING WAY 2nd Round - No way Original Round - (would be a 3rd) - Nope UFA on a highly team protected Contract - Sure

ok and no WR in the first round will matter one way or another. In the grand scheme of next year. To be honest I don’t think they take Shenault only because I don’t think he will be there. But to say they Won’t because his route tree is raw (though has really improved in 2019) when they traded up for a Super Raw QB is a little weird. -
That is what they are conditioned to do. the reality is that isn’t the Bills anymore. They can quote the sign your own stuff but this FO did make Mitch Morse the Highest Paid Center. And gave a one dimensional DT 10M AVV. who also were in on AB and OBJ trades knowing they both would have come with a nice new contract.
-
they can sign anyone they want. Cap is not an issue never is an issue so they can easily sign Him, Hooper, Cooper if they really wanted too. the reality is the Cap GOES UP on AVG 10M every year. Yeah there is room to do what they want also be innovative (other owners will be pissed) but tell UFA you will put a no Franchise Tag clause for a smaller AVV essentially the player buying their UFA

Their QB was a project as well and they traded up for him because the ceiling was just so high. -

But it really isnt like Fosters. Due to being treated as a do-it-all player within the offense and wearing multiple hats, his details as a route runner have suffered. An average technician overall, his sense of angles and route directions are dull. That’s a result of not really having a home as a player prior to his junior season. There has been gradual improvements shown since a coaching change following the 2018 season. Glides into his stems with urgency and generates strong vertical push. Fairly sudden snapping off routes and he makes good adjustments on the fly against zone coverage. Has a bit of segmentation executing horizontal breaks but it’s still fluid relative to his size. Has a second gear at the top of routes to create separation. Dynamic to all levels of the field. Excellent footwork at the line of scrimmage helps him gain early leverage. He ran a much more diverse tree in 2019, although timing in these patterns may be a work in progress; wasn't constantly targeted despite separation. Beats press with physical hands/suddenness. Love ability to break off route stems at hard angles. Wins to all levels. -

Brown a legit Route Runner, Beasley one of the best. You can even sign another "Vet" while Shenault expands his route tree. -

Seeing the Scouting Activity on TE early absolutely tells me thy see this position as a need and brings the Hooper or Henry dreams that much closer -

I just do not get why Lee Smith would be on the team in 2020 except for the "Veteran in the Room" Stuff. There needs to be upgrades in this room. The QB best friend is a TE or a couple TEs I believe it isnt. ACLs happen and so dont broken bones. He is a legit TE and more talented than any we have on the roster. And it will not scare away Beane from signing him. Mitch Morse missed 14 of 32 in two years before becoming the Bills made him the highest paid center and then played 16 of 16 -

Add that to they are airing every game nationally, Have solid financial backing. As long as they have some good announcers (will make the broadcast enjoyable) I think they are set up better than the AAF was to succeed.
