  1. Well his lawyer Jose Baez filed an investigation on behalf of the family, he believes that Hernandez was murdered. Either by inmates or personnel inside the prison, he believes it was orchestrated as Hernandez had no signs of an individual who would end his life. Round and round we go...
  2. Did that end up costing him money? I remember people being surprised that he wasn't tendered higher after his improvement in the SB run. He decimated the Pats.
  3. That's a good example, they used a 4th on Booker and thought they could find good production... 174 carries 3.5 YPC 4 touchdowns Booker was supposed to be a steal, I was one of many who thought he would explode in Denver. Sometimes replacing what you have is not as easy as you think.
  4. Ron Borges a local sports guy is saying that the Pouncey brothers paid for the lawyer in the latest trial. They must be having a bad day today, blows.
  5. What was Williams YPC behind the same oline? Tolbert? Is his name even worth a mention? The fact is this is just another move that shows no long term plan of building an actual team. Why sign a premiere full back and then break up your 1 2 punch at RB? Shady is going to be less effective with more carries and his health is always a concern, Gilly is hands down a better option than Williams/Tolbert. Tolbert would be like Dixon starting a few games, but probably slower at this stage of his career. Why would you sign him and squabble over the million dollar difference between a 2nd/5th round tender with MG? Tie it back to the late signing of Reggie Bush last season, what was all that about? There is no semblance of a plan here. Shady and Gilly lead the league in YPC and Gilly was a big part of that, he was efficient in the redzone and in short yardage. A perfect compliment for Shady. So many other holes on this team but they play around with what is actually working. Didn't need to sign Bush or Tolbert, would have been better of trying to pick another young UDFA off the heap who has a chance of breaking out. Why pay more and sign two guys that already have seen their best days? Fundamentally unsound but oh so common at OBD.
  6. Why would he do it so shortly after getting off of his latest charges? Some folks expected him to use that to help appeal his conviction in the other trial. From what I read the original prosecution said he killed Lloyd to keep him from talking about the other killings? I don't know it's all confusing. Maybe seeing his daughter in court cracked him. Can you rule out foul play in a situation like this, I'm not familiar with how accurate prison reports are. Either way, yikes.
  7. Rondo sticking it to the man, had to be expected. Hopefully the C's wake up
  8. Mike Tolbert. The guy that ate Eddie Lacy.
  9. Why do some teams win year after year and others fail to do so? The system is designed to create parity, yet some teams are perennial failures. Is it bad luck or mismanagement? All these small mistakes add up and change the depth of the roster and unfortunately they effect the draft. Teams do lose good players but teams that fail to retain talent when they are able to do so are the ones that stand out from the pack.
  10. He signed the tender, a trade is still on the table. This was just part of the process. I would be shocked if Butler plays in NE fwiw. Seems like both sides want to move on.
  11. Successful teams or ones that fall on their faces over and over again? The WR depth is still horrible, the RB depth is about to take a hit. Shady is another year older... Do you prefer a guy like Tolbert over Gilly? That's a hard sell even to the biggest Whaley defenders.
  12. All the stops? Please explain? He was a RFA, who if tendered at the next level would still be in Buffalo. The system is designed to help teams retain talent, it even rewards them for losing talent. Yet, this is the second player in two years that will be contributing elsewhere. Last year the group of WR's was depleted, Hogan would have helped a bit? Would anyone be shocked if Shady gets hurt this year? Gilly played really well and I think you would have a hard time finding someone who would value Tolbert over Gilly. Sounds like Boobie Dixon or Freddy.
  13. This is the same stuff that went on with Lawyer Milloy, Seymour ETC. They Pats only dole out major contracts to a very select few players. They aggressively move players who are about to get paid. It's worked for them but everything is easier when your QB is TB. Tossing out two starting linebackers then winning the SB with Shane Mcllelan and Elandon Roberts ...it's a kick in the nuts.
  14. Exactly right. Cooper was a throw in, anyone discussing that trade should understand it before going off the deep end.
  15. He was the 14th ranked overall ranking back last season according to PFF. He was a fan favorite. He is going to the hated Patriots and looks like he will be their starting RB. I don't understand why folks are bickering at eachother...NO ONE wants to see this happen. Sure if they get the 5th and pick some stud running back this thread will be soon forgotten. For now, we are going to watch another fan favorite get set up for success in NE all the while we will be watching TT's brain painfully process NFL defenses. It blows. From 2017 on who will have more total rushing yards? Gilly or Shady? That would be a fun bet.
  16. Pats don't draft many RB's, my guess is that BB wants to know exactly what he is getting and he don't mind paying for it. For a team that accumulates so many mid-late round picks I have always wondered that myself.
  17. Everyone in NE is getting pretty excited. If they only knew Doug Whaley has once again played BB for a fool....oh wait. Just another case of misusing the RFA tenders and allowing talent to skip out of town. Is this the Whaley is the worst GM thread?
  18. Foster's, Australian for self entitled prick. No thanks.
  19. Eh, reports like this generate some decent conversation because they propose a realistic scenario. The Bills are always good for offseason rumors and scenarios, that's what probably keeps us representing the most engaged fanbase in the NFL.
  20. Just looked it up, surprisingly he did. 32-17 as a starter if I'm counting W's and L's correctly. Also had a much better touchdown to interception ratio than I would have guessed. Let's see how year two goes, this seems like a story that is to good to be true. Everyone just ignored this kid, well...mostly!
  21. This QB class is ideal for a QB starved team that doesn't hold a top pick. It has a variety of guys with different skill sets who all grade out from mid/early first to early third round depending on who you trust. It provides an oppurtunity to address the position without overpaying. I hope they find a guy and nail it.
  22. That's exactly right, he looked like he needed a pitching mound for that slow delivery he developed. He looked disinterested last year, a poster here brought that to my attention. I was fuming at ARob for failing me but in that game it looked like he was going to knock out Bortles. I hope they get things straight down there I like some of the talent.
  23. It is definitely not an exact science, meeting with the players should be a huge advantage over the average draft pundit. I imagine that is where the best GM's gain their advantage. Elway is at 3 million per, Schneider is at 3.75, two of the higher ones that I could find. I couldn't find details on Whaley's contract but even at 1 million per, when you ink a 4 year guaranteed extension that is a nice amount of money.
  24. Do you trust Doug Whaley and his scouts to make a decision on a quaterback? Or are you going to defer to the sports writers of America and listen to how bad this class is? Have to trust the GM or he should have been replaced.
  25. I don't think they would trade up so shortly after the Watkins move, I haven't seen much of Mitch so I'm in no way saying it's the correct player/move. I was highlighting that the same fans that defend Whaley day in and day out don't trust him and the scouts to make a move. The general consensus is that it's not a great QB class, that scares many fans into thinking none of these guys are worth drafting. I find it highly unlikely that all of these QB's will fail. Find the right one. I would commend them for going hard after a QB, I'd hate it if it were Watson because his arm scares me and I want Whaley to go somewhere outside of Clemson. I wouldn't flame them though because the move in itself would represent a change in Buffalo. Finally they get it, maybe.
