I don't think the Tweet or article were worded in such a way as to confirm or deny the veracity of these statements.

In other words: Does the technology trigger when the ball crosses the first down line and electronically signal "first down" before the refs can even spot the ball?

Seems like more information is needed to form a conclusion.

At a minimum there's a chip in the ball that should be able to determine whether the ball ever crossed the first down line. Unfortunately that doesn't help wrt whether a knee was down before the ball crossed the line.

I'm skeptical that there will ever be a fool proof system, more skeptical that relying on the refs is a good idea and most skeptical that the NFL even cares. Controversial plays/games dates back to the Immaculate Reception (and probably before) and has never negatively affected the bottom line.

We used to do Subdivisions, but the new drummer who also won Best Drummer in these very same rewards can't play anything technical (he has tremendous feel), so no Rush as of now.

You oughta lobby for Camera Eye - lol. Seriously, congrats to you and your band. Good times!

It's not just NIL, it's the transfer portal that goes with it.  The major programs scout the mid-majors more than they scout HS kids.  The days of Loyola of Chicago making a run are over. The players they had to make that run will get pilfered away before they get to that point.

IMO, this is the beginning of the end of what makes the tournament special.  Maybe there are a lot of people out there who are happy to see all 4 #1 seeds make it to the end. For me it's just very uninteresting.  As you said there were very few upsets, very few nail biting games at the end, no Cinderella team at all.  Boring.  Making brackets, which seemingly the whole country does, is boring if you can just mark down the favorites and be right most of the time.  It will take a couple years to be noticeable, but if we have a couple years in a row like this you'll see decreased interest.  Jacking up ticket prices at the sites didn't help either. I noticed a LOT of empty seats in most of the early round games regardless of who was playing or where it was played.

I've been running a March Madness knockout pool since 2019. What makes the pool fun are the upsets and covers (if your team covers the spread you steal the winning team). Granted this isn't scientific as it's a small sample set and doesn't consider that a 2.5 spread and a 10.5 spread aren't equal but the numbers are interesting

Second half kick still remains a mystery to me. I mean how can the refs in the sky make a call based on what they feel was the return mans intent.

He did do the safe signal thing.  I have never seen the “dark ref” dressed in all black run out like that. Just bad officiating.

tough call for the Bills but obviously his intent was not to run it out.  "eye In the sky" was used for spotting neuro injuries at that time.

This one will always bother me. If intent mattered then every player who dropped the ball before crossing the goal line (first one I can remember is Desean Jackson) should've been awarded a TD. As I recall even the official on the field backed off from catching the ball when it was flipped to him from the Texan kick returner - knowing the play was still live.

On a more positive note Josh catching a TD pass is a great memory from that game.

The team started 0-5 last year so there is that.

Not the best game today but even in the 8th or 9th innings after last season I strongly believed the team could have came back and won.

As mentioned here before I think I am not going to get on Lindor's case for a while but it would be nice to see him not start off rusty.

I heard today that this is the second time in the Mets history that they lost back to back opening games. The last time was 1999-2000 when they went to the NLCS in 99 and lost to the Cranks in the WS in 00.  Hmmm.

Home opener today. Austin Wells with the first HR for the Yanks this season. Yanks up 1-0 top of the 2nd.

I was listening to WFAN on my way home yesterday and they were guessing who would hit the first HR of the year for the Yanks and Mets. Can't remember who, but someone said Wells.

opening day guys.  Depending how today breaks for me a might watch the end of the game at a bar I frequent.  Found out the bartender is a big Mets fan.

Even in years where there was nothing to be excited about there was always that hope springs eternal thoughts this time of year.

    I love opening day

I'm hoping to duck out of work early to get home for the first pitch. I've got Mets opening day followed by my son's university trying to advance in March Madness tonight!

Bo Jackson snapping baseball bats like toothpicks when he struck out.  Over his leg, head etc. GOAT athlete

Just came here to post something about Bo. One of a kind talent and we all lost out when his career was cut short. Remember when he walked the wall after a catch in CF? Bo knows.

    Good times.
