It would have helped to improve the talent level but we would still need an actually good boundary receiver. Ladd played from the slot a lot this year.
He’s Ok. He had a lot of chances to be the guy in LA but always kind of settled into that WR2 or 3 role.
Keep drafting WRs early. Don’t let this and Samuel and Keon stop you from taking swings, Beane.
yes I know. I think you are thinking that each team has to wait until there 12 pm local time. They don’t, west coast teams can also start at 12 pm EST and won’t be penalized for it.
If we get what we expect to be a starting CB2 - DJ Reed, Ward, Byron Murphy, Carlton Davis, Paulson Adebo that would be perfect. Then we can focus on DLine and WR in the draft.
Maybe the Steelers will trade Pickens with DK in town? Or maybe the Saints Olave? Those are the only trade options I can think of. In the meantime I’m gonna bump the ole draft [many] WRs this year thread.
Hendrickson had one very good season in NO before cashing in. It was a risk that paid off for the Bengals. I think Greg has shown several good seasons worthy of 7% of the salary cap.
I like the stars and scrubs model too where you have a few superstars. But unless you draft those players, acquiring those top players is costly and I think the Rams are the only team I can remember pulling it off…and even with them their best player was drafted.
I do think Beane gives out some silly contracts. Oliver and Bernard in particular. But I think this is one of his better contracts that can be part of building a good DLine.
Greg actually has more sacks through his first 4 years (25), than Hendrickson did in his (20). And his new contract accounts for a little over 7% of the salary cap when Hendrickson’s accounted for a little over 8% back in 2021. I think this is actually a pretty good deal, especially since the Bills don’t have to give up any draft capital like they would for Hendrickson or Metcalf.
