This is now on Beane, no question he needs to step up.
Niagara Dude replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I question if Pegula has his own advisors to properly grade both McDermott and beanie or is everything ignored because Allen carries them to the playoffs on his own with very little support talent and a bunch of no name assistants. -
No thanks, he is too slow. The Bills need better speed at the corner position
-
End of the day, Beane needs to start drafting larger players. This defence is full of players that are either smaller or slower and rely on turnovers to get off the field

The Bills' rushing success last season was a team effort. While Cook was a primary contributor, Josh Allen, Davis, and Johnson played significant roles. It's important to consider Cook's snap percentage when evaluating his contract. Since becoming the starter, he played 55% of offensive snaps in 2023 and only 48% in 2024. This 2024 figure ranked 38th among running backs, considerably lower than league leaders and other top performers. Among the highest-paid running backs in 2024, only David Montgomery had a lower snap percentage than Cook due to sharing the backfield with Jahmyr Gibbs. Beane faces tough decisions this offseason regarding contract extensions. Considering Cook's snap percentage and the contributions of other players, it's reasonable to argue that prioritizing Cook's extension over Christian Benford, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard, and Khalil Shakir may not be the optimal strategy. For me priority should be Shakir/Benford if he is healthy, Bernard, Rousseau and lastly Cook. This is not because I don't like Cook, I think he is very talented. I just don't think he is someone we could not replace in this coming draft so we don't have to overpay him. I also strongly believe you need a top receiver and passing game to win come playoff time. Look at the Super Bowl, the Chiefs totally shut Barkley but could not shut down Eagles receivers. I love Collins and even Shakir, but the Bills and Beane need to get Allen a #1 receiver and a defence that can get more stops.

Just glad the Bills took the guy who showed the best at the combine. Still remember the guys at WGR55 crying that we took the wrong Josh. Only thing that has gone wrong is Beane never getting him a true #1 that could do everything . Diggs was good but did next to zero in the big playoff games This is passing league and team that pass first do well. Bills offseason should be about getting Allen a stud a WR

I like the add a defensive coach from outside but this will never happen because McDermott only want yes men and thinks he is a defensive genius. Yes Andy Reid fired him in Philly because he is useless when it comes to defensives or at least on how to stop playoff level teams. We have not had one play year where our defence has stopped the other team, 3 opening drive TD'S this year and if Mark Andrews does not drop an east pass maybe the Bills are not even in title game because our defence could not stop anyone . One thing that needs to happen, get rid of Hamlin, he is one of worse covering safeties ever. So tired of seeing these small and slow then everyone else players we always seem to have on this team Get some players who are bigger and faster

Hire a top notch coordinator, I'm done with promotion of no name in house guys. Like why are we not firing the whole defensive staff, yet McDermott promotes guys from a lousy defence When was the last time McDermott hired a big name coordinator from the outside. Everyone living off of Allen and we"re not fixing anything repeating the same thing every offseason and expecting a different result.
-
McDermott only keeps yes men around and because of that there is zero accountability . The fact is our defensive coordinator should be fired, our defence was as healthy as you could be and still was garbage in the playoffs. 3 straight opening TD drives, they are a mess who can't get to the QB and give up way too many first downs. Look at the Rams and Lions games McDermott is a good HC but the Bills will never win a title with him because he won't dare bring in a top notch defensive coordinator from the outside. He think he knows defence and has never focused solely on being a HC. When have we ever seem our defence cone in with a plan that totally confused the other team? Yet Beane keeps spending huge resources on our defence Hire a top notch coordinator from the outside and stop with these in house promotions to McDermott clones

It Goes Back to 13 Seconds, Doesn't It?
Niagara Dude replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Marv at least got us to the big dance, I doubt the Bills will ever make a Super Bowl with McDermott as the HC. -
How many first downs did they have? or big chuck plays?, the standards cannot be so low that giving up the most points 32 that the chiefs have scored at home all season long is considered a great job by our defence In other cities the defensive coordinator is fired after 3 straight weeks of giving up opening drive TD'S. It does not happen here because Mcdermott calls the defensive shots and will not do to others what Andy Reid did to him. This is why there is no accountability , no matter how bad things are no one gets fired. It was not just the playoffs, look at the games against the Rams or Lions and how many points were giving up. I'm so tired of seeing this team lose in these big games and no one gets fired or we look to upgrade from outside. Even those Super Bowl Bills teams had coordinator turnover and guys got fired and replaced . Andy Reid has no problem firing coordinators
-
This is a problem with McDermott, he is a control freak who surrounds himself with yes men. Only big name coordinator that he hired was Dabol and they never got along great because Dabol wanted to pass more than run. I don't include Frazier because he just did what Mcdermott asked him to, another yes man It's got to the point where Pegula should tell him that things are not working out in the playoffs on the defensive side of the ball and that's not fair to Allen. He could easily hire a big name defensive coordinator and demote current coordinator. 3 playoff games in a row the other team just went down the field and scored a TD like it was a 7 on 7 drills, not acceptable and in other cities/teams guys get fired. When has he ever fired a defensive coordinator, even Frazier they made up some story about him retiring and then he goes and gets another job a year later I personally believe McDermott really never fires any defensive coordinators because they are yes men and just doing what he asks them to do, essentially he is calling the plays and coming up with the schemes
-
McDermott won't do it himself because he surrounds himself with yes men, how many times this season have teams just drove down the field making it look like a 7 on 7 drill? The fact is McDermott as a defensive coordinator was fired by Andy Reid in Philly. Just once I would like to see a defensive plan that surprises the other team.

I would be ok with Pegula asking McDermott to fire his special teams coordinator and defensive coordinator, replace them with people from the outside. People that have Super bowl experience

The Chiefs are always one step ahead of the Bills...

How about going after one of the top receivers in the draft, Coleman was not rated high because he was considered slow -
What happened to DeWayne Carter and Solomon?

He started in the Texans game and played well -

I think Carter does because he played during the season and looked the part. -
What are you doing to get out of this funk?
Niagara Dude replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Checking out the draft and what free agents will be available . Our cap situation is not great and we will need to make some moves with regards to existing contracts -

100% , the Chiefs provide Mahomes with better surrounding talent than the Bills provide Allen. I think Beane blew in our draft last season by not trading up to get one of the top WR'S available I thought Byran Thomas was there if he wanted, trade the picks to get to 22 because Jags took him at 23. Shameful how little respect the Bills front office has been in getting at top WR for Allen. -
The fact is I"m very sad about the loss, it's heart breaking to watch Allen & the Bills lose to the same player & team 4 times. I hate it and feels like his teammates and coaching staff have let him down. Mcdermott is a good man and good head coach, but he is not a great HC that helps win these big games. I think I could better accept the loss on Sunday had we not lost in the 13 secs game. The combination of losing in the 13 secs game and then again losing this game is just terrible and next 2 weeks until Super Bowl is over will be tough for me
-
If he is around long term then Allen will eventually demand out because your not winning with McDermott who surrounds himself with yes men

Beane is overrated and has just been living off of Allen's amazing HOF talent. He has made so many bad choices with top picks that has hurt our chances to win a Super Bowl. How about taking Cody Ford when we needed a WR and both Brown and Metcalf were available ? If he had drafted either Metcalf or Brown we do not have to surrender draft capital for Diggs and Allen has much better WR for a good 8-10 years. BTW, Vikings used our first to draft Jefferson. Can you imagine having Jefferson and either Metcalf or Brown in the same lineup? The fact is Josh has never had a dominating elite WR, yes Diggs had some great regular seasons but never did much come playoff time. Then we can talk about wasting another 2nd rounder on Boggie or giving the team that stands in your way of making it to the Super Bowl the fastest receiver in the draft and essentially getting no extra picks in return and then taking a big and very slow receiver Coleman. Don't be shocked if Coleman is out of the league in 2-3 seasons because he can't separate. He plays WR but looks like he has TE speed Beane has made so huge mistakes with high picks with one of the biggest being Elam who looks like he should have been an undraftd . Biggest reason why we keep losing to the Chiefs is because they kick our butts on draft day and have so many talented players at key positions. Take away Mahomes/Allen and the Chiefs have huge difference/edge in talent I personally believe the Beane/Mcdermott teaming has cost Allen and his legacy, so many assets going into our defence and our defence almost never shows up in the playoffs. This past draft was a killer, everyone knew the Bills needed a top receiver and we could have easily made a trade and move up to get Byran Thomas who went 23 to the Jags. Thomas ran a 4.3 forty, which helps him create "separation" he had 87 receptions this season with almost 1300 yards. The guy is 6'3 and fast, pretty sure someone like that helps Allen finally beat the Chiefs. Yet Beane seems to ignore forty times and then tells media and fans that a player like Coleman plays faster then his forty time Forty times matter and that is why they have receive so much attention at the draft combine. End of the day it's unforgivable we needed a WR in this previous draft and you had a draft class loaded with many fast dudes and we get one with below average speed who cannot separate. Allen and his team have to question what Beane is doing to help him get to where he wants to go. So for the next 2 weeks everyone will be talking about how great Mahomes is and Allen again becomes the forgotten man Another thing to consider is maybe if we had drafted Byran Thomas then Beane is not trading a 3rd rounder for Copper before the deadline who essentially did next to nothing after we traded for him. Sorry but Copper never was worth a 3rd rounder or at least what he ended up providing us. Another fact, is if we trade up with our first to get Thomas then there is a good chance the Chiefs don't get Worthy or we look like clowns handing him to the chiefs so he can kick our butts in a title game. -
Outside of Allen and maybe James Cook, the bills have no young elite level players
-
With his 4.3 speed you move him to the outside
-
I doubt Beane will do anything other then overpay some current guys and draft someone that no expected and tell everyone how lucky that fell to us. Coleman/Kincaid and Elam are terrible picks for where we drafted them. You can't coach speed or size and someone in the press needs to challenge him when he says he plays bigger then his size of plays faster then his forty time Ladd McConkey who ran a 4.39 would have made a nice pick, had a great rookie year but the Bills want big receiver to block in the running game
