Rams gave it a shot and we saw how well that turned out. That 7 touchdown extravaganza is long gone, even with as well as he is playing today.

Rams were a train wreck when he was there under one of the worst coach in NFL history and maybe the worst ever when it comes to developing a QB. It's hard to say Foles doesn't have what it takes to succeed at this point. He had a season where he through what 27 TDs and 2 INTs? A 7 TD game? You don't get to those numbers by accident or luck. Now combine those numbers with how well he has looked in place of Wentz and I got to believe Foles will be a guy more than a couple teams might try to trade for.

Problem is, it's too late now. The Eagles have him for certain for at least one more year, and with Wentz's recovery timetable uncertain, no way he's going anywhere. It just kills me to watch a team with a better backup than our starter.

Money talks, or in this case, draft picks talk. Wentz tore his ACL. He'll be fine come the start of the next year. This isn't a Andre Luck situation. Offer enough and the Eagles would give him up.

I don't see how you can say Sammy is the best on that list with Landry there.  He's produced a ton more than Sammy and so has Allen Robinson when he's been healthy.  I think saying Sammy is the best there is being a homer but that's JMO.

8.8 ypr this last season for Landry though. That's pitiful. That's what Boldin was putting up in his last year.

Nothing, of course. But on one hand, the game can't end on a defensive penalty, so the offense gets another shot. And keeps getting shots until the defense stops doing it.

Yep. And we saw that this year withe The Chiefs vs. Raiders Thursday night game. I believe the Chiefs committed two consecutive defensive PI's on un-timed downs. Raiders finally scored on the third one.

What stops the saints safety from just tackling the receiver before the ball gets there yesterday (besides his inability to tackle) if it’s a 15 yarder instead of spot?

You simply make a rule that it becomes a spot foul inside of two minutes. Or inside two minutes make it a 15 yard penalty and put the original time back on the clock. In that situation the Vikings would have gained a free 15 yards and still had 10 seconds left.

It is not unprecedented to have different rules for inside of two minutes of a game or half.

I agree for the most part that spot fouls on defensive PI's are overkill most of the time. Especially when a quarter of the calls seem questionable at best.

Nope.  The Bills sold out completely to stop the run and, in that game, Bortles could not make them pay.  That does not mean that their defense is good.  Indeed, without the turnovers they got this year, this defense is bottom 1/3 of the NFL.

Even with the turnovers they go this year the D still finished bottom third in the NFL or right around there in both PPG and Total Yards.

Um, in the NFL they do.  They did it with Kap, Luck, Stafford, Carr, Tannehill, etc.  QB's get grossly over paid all the time for being young or in prime with upside.  I dont agree with it, but its the way the NFL works right now.

When was Tannehill ever made the highest paid QB in the league? or Kap?  The other three QBs have all failed for various reasons since signing their huge deals.

I hesitate to say this, but by the numbers for Smith over the past seven seasons are really good

He led the league in passer rating this year and the Chiefs ended up 6th in yards and 5th in points.

Honestly, I'd take him, and I'd be happy to get him.

I'm with you. If we land Smith in a trade we are going back to the playoffs again in 2018.

    No, dude, it is.

    Case closed. It is.

Not to burst your bubble with that long rant you just had but they (ESPN, sports media etc.) are always touting Brady's Win total and comparing him to other QBs. They say that he is the winningest QB, etc.. It may not be an official stat for QBs but it is certainly one that is often used.

That is NEVER GETTING called. Easy for yardsperpass to slow it way down to get people all riled up

I agree. Especially since he is also making a play on the ball.

This is one of those calls that we screamed about with KB.  Can't have it both ways folks.  If you have to look at every minute thing to see if it was a catch it should be ruled a catch (or int).  This is one of those cases.  It looked like a pick and maybe just maybe it moved slightly but I would rather calls go this way than the KB call.

Okay but problem is we didn't get it both ways. We got screwed on both calls. Same with the Clay overturned catch call on the sideline.

I think it’s the frame by frame analysis. Replay was intended to overturn obvious mistakes not break a catch down frame by frame. They need to go back to staying with the call on the field unless it’s obvious.

    Ding, ding, ding.

And if we did this Jesse James and KB both score TDs against New England. Clay makes a first down catch to move the chains on the sideline and this Ramsey INT is an INT. They should have went with the original calls on the field for the other three like they did with the Ramsey INT.

Thats exactly my point, because so many here tout Tyrod as "leading his team" in which is basically the same thing.

Bortles benefited from the leagues #2 overall defense. Taylor played with the leagues 21st overall defense. How are they basically the same thing?

After years and years of cowardly quarterbacks so afraid of making mistakes that they rarely if ever make actual plays, Gunslinger Peterman was a breath of fresh air.

Really? I wouldn't say Fitz and EJ were cowardly quarterbacks. They just weren't very good. How does Peterman compare to those two? Does he look better, the same or worse?

The 2017 Dolphins should serve as a cautionary tale in terms of high expectations and disappointment after a first  year head coach gets a team with a playoff drought back into the tourney.

And don't forget the Jets under first year head coach Todd Bolwes in 2015. They didn't make the playoffs but they finished 10-6 and you could make a legitimate argument that Jets team was better than both the 2016 Dolphins and 2017 Bills. Definitely a strong history of teams taking a step back after taking a step forward.

  13. This was a very week 9-7 team though. Other than turnover differential and clutch 50+ yard kicks from Haushcka, this basically a 5-11 or 6-10 team. Carpenter was great his first season with us too and then fizzled out his final two years with us. Turnover differential will more likely than not go down next season. I'm not against bringing in a veteran QB but there are plenty of signs that this team could go 8-8 or even 7-9 next season even with an upgrade at the QB position.

  14. With the exception of possibly starting Peterman next year it is hard to imagine worse production from the QB position next year no matter who we go with as a rookie or free agent pick up. That alone could be a huge boost.

But there are some red flags. Our success this year was all about Hauschka and timely turnovers from the secondary. Both could very easily reverse back to the mean in 2018. And if that happens we will need to greatly improve out 26th ranked offense and 21st ranked defense.

I could say the same to you.

Every year the NFL changes.  What goes up will come down.

Freaking Blake Bortles out Taylored Taylor.  TT has lost a step.  I'm sorry if that bothers you, but that is what happened.

Your statement is pretty misleading without adding a couple details. TT played the leagues #2 defense. Bortles played the leagues 21st ranked defense. Who would you expect to have a better day?

McDermott has a lot of coaching up to do still. Literally everyone here wanted Rex's head for the exact same results on defense. But Rex's teams came with a much better offense.

    Rex Ryan Bills Defense:

    2015- 15th ppg,  20th ypg

    2016- 16thppg, 19th ypg

    Sean McDermott Bills Defense:

    2017-16th ppg, 21st ypg

  16. Hapless Bills Fan is spot on.

That QB couldn't make that throw (along with many others) for 3 years. But now it's a problem  -- when a 5th round rookie comes off the bench cold and is thrown into probably the most difficult situation possible for any QB.

    Got it.

No you are missing what myself and others have said. Taylor earned a starting job in 2015. Even if it was against weak competition he earned it nonetheless. He played very well in 2015. Even a hater should acknowledge that. Maybe he still didn't make every throw in 2015 but he overall played very well. Now these last two years his play has declined and he'll be on a new team next year. Rightly so. But Peterman? What has he earned? What has he proven? Nothing yet.
