Aside from the Bills execution, this could come down to officiating. Not only the refs ignoring the Mahommes roughing "flop" for 15 yards, but the Chiefs are notorious for being very "handsy" in their man coverage, and never getting a call.

Think a few players on their o-line are weak..its led to a drop in production and increased sacks/pressure..hence all their reshuffling in the last few weeks..how far will the refs let them go in protecting Mahommes?

Finally, it's amazing how their tackels are always "allowed" to line up so far behind the line of scrimmage and start early..despite ALL the analysts pointing it out every week.

The tackle thing is truly bizarre. Taylor is lined up in the backfield on every snap. Remember opening night? They flagged the the Ravens three times on their opening drive for the tackles being too far back? Thought it was going to be a point of emphasis this year.

That’s why this is a McDermott game.

I can’t handle the discussions of Josh Allen needing to defeat Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen needing to slay the dragon.

“Josh Allen needs to do what Joe Burrow did”

    My goodness… enough.

McDermott & co. need to coach the game of their lives because Allen always does his part and he deserves to be able to “win like Burrow” if that what it takes because his Defense stepped up.

This is the game McDermott makes up for 13 seconds.  He has to.

Last weeks game was an even more got to have it game than this weeks. The narrative doesn't change if the Bills lose this Sunday. If they win, the narrative changes in the positive direction some but Mahomes and the Chiefs are still the best team / legacy up through this season even if the Bills and Allen win a Super Bowl.

Last week, a third consecutive loss at home in the divisional round would have been legacy defining in the wrong way. Allen would have had three consecutive home losses to Burrow, Mahomes and Jackson. He would have been looked at as the 4th best QB in the grouping simply due to all of those losses against his peers.

I wanted to the Bills to win last weeks game more than any game I can recall in my lifetime. This week, I want them to win but I don't feel the same amount of pressure to avoid an embarrassing defeat that would crush a legacy. The legacy is already there that the Bills and Allen can't beat Mahomes in the post season. Same is true of virtually every other QB and team AFC or NFC. Joe Burrow beat Mahomes once in the postseason but even that star is starting to dim as the years continue to go by.

You see the team in front of them that's getting the 1 seed, right? We even beat the Chiefs head to head in the regular season to claim it from them and still didn't get it because they kept winning

Since the 2019 season the Chiefs have only had the one seed half the time. Ravens x2 and Titans x1. Bills have to sneak in their at least once and get the one seed.

It's funny how alot of what I've seen from kc fans this week is that the whole "refs favor the Chiefs" thing is total garbage and not true. I mean, really? Look I know the bills have gotten some favorable calls this season a few times, but cmon...

Crazy that a league partner in CBS is tweeting this out as well.

Im thinking about KC next week.  Why cant we deploy Dalton like Kelce?  A good TE is a QBs best friend they say.

    Im on cloud 9 today!

    GO BILLS!

Kelece is the GOAT TE. And his numbers are even more amazing in the postseason I believe. If we are asking why can't Kincaid be deployed like the GOAT TE , I think we need to revaluate the question.

The truth is, Bills are a running team that also spreads the ball around. In this offense, Khalil is going to be the most consistently targeted guy and we are still only talking like 6-8 targets max for even him.

  6. I'll say one thing, no way this team, with Josh Allen, should be going three consecutive years without an AFC title game appearance. And when will the Bills finally get the 1 seed? It hasn't been going to the Chiefs every year.

What I don’t understand is the Bills hesitancy to do the Allen tush push on 3rd and 2’s.  When they run that play they typically get 1-3 yards, I don’t care if it’s ugly boring football it’s effective and they should absolutely be running that play every time when they are on the opponents side of the field.   That’s a couple times now that I believe that play should have been run.   I hope they rethink that

I've seen them run the tush push on 3rd and 2 around midfield. But yes, you are correct, Lions game just before the half was the other time they had 3rd and 2 at the goal line (maybe even 3rd and 1 at the goal line?) and they didn't op for the tush push. Conversely, they did do the tush push back to back on 1st and 2nd down against the Rams when game clock wise they maybe should not have.

They definitely seem to not be picking the right times to run the correct play lately.

I don't think we score a TD from 2 yards out, maybe 15% chance. But nearly automatic that the next play is from the 1 and then it's 90% chance they score on 4th with the same play call.

Yeah I kind of would like it if the Bills could run the ball down the Chiefs throats.

I don't need to see inefficient chucking to a blanketed Keon Coleman.

Shakir of course will be reliable, and the crosser to Hollins has hit at times this year.

We are going to out Chiefs the Chiefs. That should be the game plan. Last week was the Chiefest win the Bills have had all season.

We might hit one big play but it is going to come down to not making mistakes. Bills offense has been the best in the league all season not making the negative plays.

Eh, it was a freezing cold game and they were in position to tie the game. But obviously, he wasn’t perfect. But it was a gutless effort.

I also do think people overlook how much conditions play in qb play. It’s one thing in a dome. But it must have sucked for a Florida dude. It’s why I had no doubts we were going to win.

Allen is going to win the MVP because Lamar isn’t winning 3. It’s a storyline award. Best qb from the best team or guy who picks up his team the most (you have to talk about how awful the rest of your team is).

and I still haven’t heard a good reason why Daniels isn’t one of the top mvp candidates? The second worst team in the nfl last year is in the championship game.

also, Allen is getting paid a ton and is in a ton of commercials. He gets a ton of prestige.

Will Levi’s is in a mayo commercial. I don’t think commercials are an indicator of lasting legacy 20 years after retirement.

I hope you are right about the MVP vote and many of the voters stick with their voting criteria from last season.

I never thought Allen would be first team all pro this year and even thought Burrow would get more second team votes than he did. So to me it was odd when the Vegas odds changed so much based on an all pro award I always figured Lamar would win.

Lamar absolutely should not have been 1st team all pro last year with his stats. Should have gone to any one of Dak, Purdy or Allen before Lamar.

Lamar won the Heisman trophy and morons talked about him switching positions. He gets called a rb all the time.  He has gotten killed for his playoff performances.

if you think Lamar doesn’t get a ton of criticism, you aren’t paying attention.

Both Allen and Jackson have taken a ton of criticism. That’s why I like both. They don’t whine about MVPs or people criticizing them. They just work hard and get better every year.

All of that is true but trying to make it make sense from a fan perspective that Lamar might soon be a 3x league MVP and Allen 0x MVP is troubling. We can all make very strong cases that Allen should have been MVP last year or this year. For Allen to potentially have zero and Lamar 3 is pretty wild.

Both have taken heavy criticism but the most prestigious accolades have all gone heavily to to Lamar. Probably the one true accolade that Allen has over Lamar is the general consensus that Allen is the 2nd best QB in the league to Mahomes year in and year out. But they don't give out any hardware for that designation unfortunately.

These things matter in legacy considerations 20 years down the road too. For all we know, neither QB may ever win a Super Bowl. People will look back and see one QB has like 3+ MVP's and the other has 1 or none.

All white with blue socks? That will look terrible. Tell me this is not true. Have the Bills ever wore all white with blue socks? I am trying to picture it and in my head it looks gross.

We turned Mahomes over twice in the first meeting (and Josh gave it up once), so it mattered then as well.  But I agree with you that both of these teams have it ingrained not to beat themselves with mistakes, so I think it's really going to come down to the red zone and who is able to cash in while preventing the other team from doing the same.

It was more about sacking Mahomes twice and keeping Allen clean. Chiefs had to punt immediately following each of the two sacks. It killed their drives. The second INT didn't really factor into the game. Bills win percentage before the last INT was 99.8%, after it was 99.9%

  13. We should maybe add sacks to the OP's list. This is the first year I've really heard the mention of the combined negative plays stat of INT's, fumbles and sacks. Allen and the Bills have been elite in eliminating the negative plays. Chiefs still have a tendency to give up sacks even if they are not turning the ball over.

Going back to the regular season game against the Chiefs, Bills were 3/4 in the red zone and Chiefs were 3/3. Both teams had one turnover each up until Pat's 2nd INT on their final possession already down two scores and under two minutes. That turnover didn't end a game that was basically already over.

But Bills sacked Mahomes twice for 15 yards and the Chiefs punted after each sack. Allen was not sacked once. We all saw how the 8 sacks Stroud took last week.
