  1. What Nucci said...and every other thread on page one is discussing this topic.
  2. Maybe. Still with all those TOs the D's intent should have been made clear to the players. Still a bad look for him. Speaking to a different issue, our DL rotation is designed to get pressures because pressures force incompletions and TOs. This is solid thinking. Bowles and TB showed that pressure works on Mahomes...IF you get him running BACKWARDS and IF you get a bunch of sacks too. Pressure that gets Mahomes running East-West isn't really pressure to him. Elite QBs don't get inside their own heads until they're getting hit repeatedly.
  3. I can't say that Frazier and McD were equal to the moment, so I can't disagree with the column in a meaningful way. Here's a challenge for you McD. Learn from Josh. Lots of managers talk about a growth mindset...until their subordinates have something useful to teach them.
  4. McD is great at learning and changing for the better. Just look at how he's gotten with the program on 4th downs, and how he schools belichick game after game. His weakness is loyalty. He develops blind spots towards performance once you've earned his respect. His crush on Peterman, the Denison hire, and now maybe Frazier. Frazier is a great DC against 90% of the NFL. But this isn't soccer, you can't win a title by beating beating the 18 teams that are worse than you are, and never beating the two teams that are better. If you can't beat Brady or Mahomes, you don't win it all. You don't need to rip McD's scheme down to the foundations and start over. It's a fundamentally sound scheme. But you do need some new ideas and better situational decisionmaking if you want to get through the post season. Remember they tried and failed to bring in a true, elite pass rusher this off-season. With the number of guys we're moving on from this off season, I expect Beane to break the bank for an All Pro type EDGE. And bet your ass he won't be rotated.
  5. Coin Toss Alternate Josh Allen...
  6. When your QB throws for 329 and 4 TDs, then the O is not part of the problem. Now I don't know what information led to the decision to protect the sidelines with zone coverages and let the best YAC team in the NFL run the middle of the field. But it was the wrong one. And I don't know what the situational decision making process was, but whoever thought it was a good idea to give free releases to receivers at any point...well they were wrong too. These perspectives do not require hindsight when you're talking about the Chiefs. To win the game, we had to keep the clock running, and keep the chiefs from scoring. They had all their TOs and the best YAC receivers in the game. They had 13 seconds. A sack basically wins the game, but our whole DL system is designed to generate pressures rather than sacks. Drop everybody into coverage, and get physical at the LOS. The Chiefs aren't winning any jump balls, that's not who they are. Make Mahomes stand back there and pat the ball, because time is your friend. Leaving the hash marks open (ie, just what we did...) is an easy read for an easy throw and catch. Which defeats our goal of making everything take as much time as possible. That situational coaching was piss poor. It identified the right objectives, then for some reason completely ignore the Chiefs strengths as an O, and their available resources (players, time outs). May as well have thrown out a red carpet for the FG team.
  7. Exactly. You cannot ride the roller coaster with this team, you'll lose your mind.
  8. Yuuuuupppppp.
  9. These threads are ridiculous. I've got no time for the instant gratification crowd.
  10. Lots of people got a lot to vent right now. It's all good That said, I took a step towards the "Hire Vic Fangio" camp tonight.
  11. Today, I took a step closer to the "Hire Vic Fangio" camp.
  12. Alright boys, let's matriculate the ball down the field.
  13. Holy ***** Cinci might do it. What a clutch play.
  14. Those were the two worst running plays anybody has ever called. Holy *****.
  15. This is why you spend big to give your players the best facilities, best doctors, best strength & conditioning staff and the best treatment in the league. That's an insane injury list for game 19 of the season.
  16. Ahhhh, the whataboutism usually stays in politics forum, but for some reason it's out here too.
  17. The Hunts are NFL royalty. I don't think Terry & Kim have that kind of influence yet. This is some Game of Thrones type *****.
  18. It'll be fine, Jackson Mahomes is on the case. He'll get his TikTok drones to cancel the judge after a spicy dance/lipsync routine in front of the courthouse.
  19. It's legit, he's in jail on a misdemeanor as of this morning
  20. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to see Sorensen much. He been replaced by Juan Thornhill, and Thornhill doesn't suck.
  21. Timing is everything. We got KC early in the season when they were busy smelling their own farts and kicked the crap out of them. Now we're getting them in the Division round with 18 games worth of tape. And this game has been circled since last year. My guess is there's a big, fat file at the Director of Football Research & Strategy's office labeled Kansas City* that's subject to weekly updates. *Yes, we have a Director of Football Research & Strategy. His name is Dennis Lock. I don't know if he's related to Ernie Adams, but he's just as shadowy.
