Brian Daboll has no future here
BringBackOrton replied to Tesla03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t know how you watched yesterday’s game and claimed our QB isn’t not consistently executing. -
I will quibble a bit here. I don’t think Daboll is BAD at giving Josh throws to get in rhythm. He could definitely do more. I’d like to see some swing passes to Singletary for starters. It’s unfortunate that Josh is so hot and cold though. Honestly, by the second possession, you generally know if he’s “on” or not. When we played the Cowboys, he was on. When we played the Ravens and the Pats, you knew we were in for a up and down day. It’s just the kind of QB he is right now. McD’s defense is good. They weren’t great yesterday. Idk what you’re watching either I guess.

Yep the Broncos has a great defense. And against a prime Tom Brady and Gronk, they blitzed a SEASON LOW that game. By your definition, they weren’t aggressive at all. So we have a conservative offensive and defensive gameplan that beat a great team in the game before the Super Bowl. Its about matchups Kelly. That’s all the NFL is. The only guy to have success blitzing a lot against Brady was Rex and that’s didn’t last because Brady figured out his disguises. Offenses play better, aggressive or no, when the personnel is better. Defenses play better, aggressive or no, when the personnel is better. If you want to beat Brady, you need pressure with your front 4 without blitzing. It’s not a question of aggressiveness, it’s a question of getting pressure while flooding zones so he can’t get the ball out in a second to Edelman for an easy 7 yards. If Josh could make defenses pay enough for blitzing like Brady does, we’d see a lot less “aggressive” defenses.

But you’re forgetting the matchup. Which is the key in all of this. Blitzing Brady historically has resulted in very bad results, good defenses and bad defenses alike. I would argue that our defensive strategy has allowed A LOT of room for error in our offense, seeing as our offense basically goes to sleep for what seems like hours because of bad throws etc. Blitzing a lot and getting burned for big plays and getting down by double digits early means this offense has very little room for error.

It really is a question and you’re wrong. The Broncos won in 2015 by going into a shell punting how many straight times with a lead in the AFCCG? You might say “oh Kubiak was always aggressive the rest of the time in his career,” but guess what? Those Peyton Manning aggressive offenses never won in Denver. The crappy conservative offense did. Because you have to play to your PERSONNEL.

Not even a little bit. Josh leaves a routine play on the field almost every single drive. -

You’re actually wrong. Everyone ***** about McDaniels in NE basically every time the Pats lose. -
This topic hinges on the philosophy that coaches don’t change their approach based on their personnel. It’s just a coincidence that BB “became conservative” when Brissett was under center. It’s a coincidence that Rivera became an aggressive coach when Cam was playing like an MVP. It’s a coincidence that the Tebow-Broncos were conservative. Here’s my counter question. What HC has been super aggressive and successful without a good QB? I’ll hang up and listen.

Josh Allen - week SIXTEEN report card
BringBackOrton replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen missed several routine throws and THIS is the game that you start to think it’s the OC? The same OC that called the Brown double move that left him wide open? The same OC that called the Knox deep ball at the end of the half, the moving pocket roll out and the fake misdirection Dawkins pss? The same OC that called a corner route for an open Knox at the end of the game that, if Allen hits, ties the game? -

You forgot Allen hits Knox on a bomb and our next drive hits JB on a bomb. I guess if you omit the time he did, then yeah, he didn’t. -

You DONT PUT IN EXTRA BLOCKERS TO BEAT COVER ZERO IN THE NFL. You make quick passes to the hot read or go over the top. It’s NFL 101. Guess who misses on the deep ball or fails to get the ball out to the hot read almost every time? -

Yes, those 10+ yard passes that Allen missed wildly except for two ALL GAME was because Daboll wasn’t aggressive. Allen elevates his game in the clutch and runs the offense correctly at that time. The rest of the game, not so much.
