  1. The common understanding of Analytics is that it is using any and all data.  Measuring and grabbing any data point to support an argument and trying to make sense of it is a poor approach.

McD has said in interviews that certain data is more important that other data.   As a Lean Six Sigma Master Black this is what I want to hear from a process oriented coach.   McD should be measuring HIS process, and identifying his key performance indicators (key measures).  Then executing to drive those  key numbers.

Based on my limited information on what McD is doing I think the Bills are going about it the correct way.   I just would like him to say "our process".   It is not as if there are no other coaching processes.   Everything is a process even if it is not documented - even Rex and the clowns before him had a processes, just not a good ones.

The word is that the Bills were in a bidding war at 7 with the Cardinals and that they both coveted Allen.   Whether or not you personally like Allen is besides the point and you have to throw out the draft chart if you are going after your franchise QB, specially considering that they were trying to target him at 5.   If you are going after someone at 5 and trading 2 2nds would have been a deal at that slot but now you are still targeting the same guy at 7 and now all of a sudden it's not a good "value"?  That's stupid.

They "overpaid" because they were about to lose him to the Cards.  If you believe that you could be getting your franchise QB and you trade away 2 2nds to get him along with a 1st rounder, I would say that is not too much to give up.

There is not proof of a bidding war.  That is just Buffalo Bills mentality of filling in blanks to make things look ideal for GM/Coach/Team.

It won't be long and you will hear about how the Arizona Cardinals coveted Josh Allen and how they were pissed about missing out on him.  Sure they will tell their fans that Josh Rosen is the guy they coveted, but the guy they wanted was Josh Allen.  I have 0 problem with Beane using #12 and the two 2nd round picks because that is the reason he acquired those picks, so NO ONE, including the Arizona Cardinals, could match him.  He even had an extra 1st if he needed to change things up and offer a different combo.  Beane mastered this draft and got his franchise QB.

There is no guarantee those #2s would pan out so I agree with the trade up.   Arizona wanting Allen is speculation only.

As for mastered the draft I would not go there.  Maybe he did well in the 1st round (if you like Allen) but a backup NT in round 3 was a bad pick and Beane failed to see the pick of Clemson's #1 WR the pick before us when we took their #3 WR as well as the fact that the Lions picked a highly rated OT we needed one pick before us in the 5th round  were big time errors.

  3. I had this thought this morning as well looking at the trade value chart.  We owe the Rams a punch in the nose just for this being a possibility.

I am not sure Rosen would be there guy and I hope he is not ours unless he falls all the way to 12.   How do you think Belichek would do with a rookie QB who wants every one of his questions answered before he does his job?

Also the Pats have holes at QB and CB to fill.    Even though the traditional draft chart says they can get to #9 with their first round picks that won't hold up this year.   We for one have too much ammo.

    So the opposite of Whaley....

So we have already crowned Beane a genius before he selects one player?  I think the tune will change when he hits on only 40% of his picks (like all GMs) and we realize he traded away talent for chance.  The best thing Beane has going for him is that he has a great coach.

it is foolish to think that there won't be growing pains with a rookie GM

  5. If you are a non believer in Lauletta review the combine throwing sessions.  As far as accuracy and are strength I had him only behind Mayfield.

Also he is going go day two so not a late round prospect.  Do the research, he is a better prospect than Josh Allen

In my perfect world we get Mayfield between picks 6 to 12 if not I would be happy with Lauletta late in the 2nd or 3rd.

    Good.  They can have him.

Name for me please the last QB to come from the OK State system and go on to have a successful career in the NFL as a franchise QB.  I'll be waiting.

Broadway Joe.  Also please run this exercise for every QB who was great in the NFL and their school

If I'm the Giants I'm going to hold a gun to the head of any team wanting pick #2 because I'd be happy picking Barkley or Rosen there.

If the Bills came knocking, I'd tell them I want both #1's, first #2, first #3 this year and next years 1st. If they take it, great, if not, no big deal.

That would be insane for us to do but the Giants should ask.  These QBs aren't can't miss.  Questions on throwing motion, concussions, height and accuracy are too much to give away three first rounders + to move 10 spots.  If we were to make this deal it would certainly be because we traded Tyrod and are stuck with McCarron.

I've read people make this statement a few times in different posts and thought it deserved a thread.  First off this is B.S. in my opinion.  I think he made the line lool worse.  Why you ask?

    1.  Since 2016 Taylor has had the highest time to throw in NFL.  Meaning he holds the ball the longest.

    2.  He almost never throws the ball at the top of his dropback.  He never anticipates the throw and rarely throws based on timing.   Instead he waits for people to get open causing dline to get pressure and fans who don't understand things say wow...he saved a sack there but instead if the ball came out on time there would be no pressure at all.

    3.  Taylor's footwork was/is terrible.  Instead of stepping up in the pocket (which was solid due to wood and Ritchie most of the time) he moved into where the defense was a lot.

For these reasons a QB who can throw with anticipation and has better mobility within the pocket will make the oline look much better.

    Discuss.  :)

What about when Peterman was in there?

I believe that Tyrod is a better player but McCarron, pick 65 and $6M (or whatever it is) in cap space is a superior situation. Once they trade up I think that they will be in much better shape at the position.

Beane has really set this team up nicely. They don’t have a ton of talent today but they have a lot of resources to add that talent. They have been responsible patient. It is an exciting time IMO.

The pick at 65 is nice but not better than 2-4 more wins next season.  The reality is Cap Space does not make plays and even if you have a ton of cap space free agents are hesitant to go to Buffalo and even more so if we post 6 wins next season with McCarron which is my projection.

Tyrod was the better bridge because we could continue to build and win games and he could also teach a rookie about hard work which wasn't a question with Tyrod.
