Beane has now run 7 drafts for the Bills and has shown some very clear trends. By following history, we can try and predict the Bills draft class. For all pre-draft info, I used this running article: https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2025/04/nfl-draft-2025-buffalo-bills-pre-draft-visitors-zoom-meetings-and-private-workout-tracker.html?outputType=amp (thank you @RyanTalbotBills)
Pick 30: Nick Scourton, DE, TAMU
Dalton Kincaid was the only first pick in the draft that was not a top 30 visit and was older than 21 years old on draft day. Scourton, 20, fills a premium position.
Other players that fit mold: DE Shemar Stewart, CB Maxwell Hairston, DT TJ Sanders
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Nic-Caraway-DE-Purdue
Weird, which one is his actual weight? He looks 285... but conflicting info, almost 30lbs difference.... did he slim down for combine. Either way interesting prospect. Also wondering why his production dropped this year. Def not the be-all end-all, but notable

Yeah it’s been crazy what I’ve been able to do with it work wise, but even analyzing legal documents and things like comparing original drafts and redlined amended ones for potential issues and why. Even my lawyer was floored, saved us a ton of time and moneyGreat for resumes! Like another poster pointed out, knowing how to use it is the key. tell it "make me a resume" and its gunna turn out like crap..... upload your current resume and a copy of the job your applying for and ask it to help maximize your resume for the job, then youre cooking with gas.
have it identify keywords you need. ask it what the top candidates in the top of their career have in common, how you can relate what skills you have to those skills. etc etc etc
ive heard people say its lazy. it actually takes me less time to update my resume manually, but its going to be far from optimized. take the time to figure out what matters and the best way to frame yourself, and break your resume down line by line. took me a tooooon of time, but i nailed a job id been gunning for off and on for years with this method..... then once you learn something like that. learn how to use it in similar ways for other important tasks. eventually youll get a real eye for seeing missed opportunities & potential uses

On general principle, as boring as a 1st round pick at CB is, I wouldn't absolutely hate it given the need, but I'd be concerned if they pick a guy coming off a major injury.
How is the scheme fit on Revel? Were not a press-heavy team, but some staffing changes might indicate we are overhauling.
Seems like a Beane type pick. Absolute physical freak. 6'3 corner? 4.4 forty per DraftBuzz. Strong character guy, was working overnight shifts to even get in a position to play ball.Injury concerning, but hes young enough to hopefully bounce back well... even if he lost a step, that kinda puts him at average speed, while he recovers. Sounds tip-top hard worker, so im sure hes rehabbed hard af. those surgeries are getting better every year.

Life is inherently unfair
Fairness or not. How is the fan experience better if the 10-7 Bucs get a home game as 3 seed..... but a 14-3 team sits at home?
Fan experience should be #1 over everything, and getting away from this principal is exactly why die hard NFL fans are watching less/less interested than they were even 10 years ago

The more playoff teams a league adds, the less important the regular season becomes. Less urgency for them to win the normal games. More chance for bad teams to pull off upsets against superior opponents. There are multiple teams in the NBA playoffs right now that finished at .500 or lower. That is pathetic.
Once the NFL added a 7th team to their postseason format, they were forced to drop the bye for the #2 seeded team. Teams with 12-14 wins forced to play against a team with 8-9. I don't see how this possibly makes the sport better.
Isnt parody supposed to be a perk of the league? Im sure 49 states aren't sick of KC.... especially on the heels of NEjust ending. It isnt good for fans to have 2 teams dominate the league for what'll end up being 30years easily

The one team bye is not good. It’s bad to give one team that advantage. It made regular season games just as important as another wild card team.
Agreed. Add an extra wild card to balance it out, top 2 get byes. They get their extra playoff $$, fans get more games, and IMO it doesnt weaken the pool down at all.
This year wouldve let in 9-8 Bengals & 10-7 Seahawks (same record as the 3 seed Bucs).

Nah. Football is my favorite sport unquestionably.... and theres no way to do this with football but a series rules so hard. I wouldnt expect any Sabres fans to remember LOL, but a Cup run is superior. NHL playoffs are absolutely savage!!!
Have something to look forward to every other night. Every game feels meaningful. Players are absolutely sick of the other teams players by puck drop of game 2, Gets chippy real fast. Up to 2 weeks for fans to focus their entire hate on another cities fans LOL I was too young for SB runs '90-94, so I had to learn my hatred for Dallas through hockey... Washington too!
All that said, Id take 1 Super Bowl over winning 5 Cups; but Id be willing to settle for either at this point

Week 1 - Seeds 8 and 9 play each other. Bye week for every other team that made the playoffs.
Week 2 - The winner of week 1 plays the #1 seed. Then, seeding just how it is now. 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.
The rest of the playoff weeks as is.
I’m not sure how I feel about it, but there are advantages:
1. The #1 seed isn’t the only one with a bye week
2. Every team who made the playoffs, without having to win a play in game, would get a bye week
3. The #1 seed would have to win three games to get to the Super Bowl like seeds 2-7 would
4. It’d allow a team riddled with injuries who gets healthy or a young team who gets hot a chance at the playoffs. We see it many years where a team is decimated by injuries and it takes their season. Maybe if there was a play in game for seeds 8 and 9 it’d allow a team like this to still have a shot. Or, sometimes we see a young team start to gel in the second half of the season and get hot. It’d allow a team like that a chance to get in by being a 8 or 9 seed
5. It’s one more week of football
Just some off-season thoughts. What say you?
Go Bills!
i know youre getting dragged here, but i really like the play-in games in nba. They def have a March Madness feel to them, even though nba is so inferior to me.
I like the idea of this for the NFL, but it just does not translate across sports.
After seeing that Florida/Houston Championship, I caught myself thinking damnnnn I wish we could get a best of 7.... but that would ruin March Madness if they went to 14 teams get in, and then a bunch of best of 7 series
BBBBBBUUUUUUUUTTTTTTT, maybe just for the Natty Round they could give us a best of 5! lol i know, they probably should leave it alone, im just sad its over and seriously would love to have seen that matchup 3, 5 or 7 times
Quote2. Every team who made the playoffs, without having to win a play in game, would get a bye week
I really like this one actually! Take the Super Bowl bye week out and toss it between regular season/wild card round. id sign up for that change right now

Here's Bond's Lawsuit Against the Woman. Obviously these allegation types get murky real fast. And even knowing how good attorneys are at spinning a story, im left feeling like this is a run of the mill accusation around pro-sports. I'm assuming Bond has record of these texts, which dont paint her in the best light.... I can't say Im fully off the Bond train, but its hard to picture Beane/McD being on this train if he were to fall

I voted #1. I'd say for Shemar Stewart who is projected as a possible top 10 pick but lack of production may realistically drop him to around #20. He has the elite athletic traits we know this regime favors, he fills a need, and he was a top 30 visit. That's a semi-realistic option so I'd be interested to see how that affects our draft, although I wouldn't support that move in real life.
Weird, I've been reading he's 100% project/potential and zero production. Youre one of the better posters here, so what do you like? Why wasnt he productive? I know hes an absolute freak, is there something else he brings to table? Or freak enough for that to be worth it alone?
Dudes traits on his scouting report reads a lot like another former A & M guy, who shall not be named on this board lol
-
Has anybody done this yet? Asked ChatGPT; criteria I gave it being "realistic & scheme fit"... I can tell its pretty whack given its talking about "post-Diggs".
I dont know much about this draft past round 2, so you'll have to be the judge
Round 1, Pick 26
Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
Why: A dynamic playmaker with elite speed (4.29 40-yard dash) and route-running ability. Golden can stretch the field and provide Josh Allen with a reliable deep threat
Round 2, Pick 58
Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina
Why: A versatile safety with excellent size (6'3", 220 lbs) and athleticism. Emmanwori can play both deep and in the box, fitting well into the Bills' defensive schemes.
Round 3, Pick 90
Omarr Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee
Why: A quick, gap-shooting defensive tackle capable of putting pressure on the quarterback. Norman-Lott adds depth and pass-rushing ability to the interior defensive line.
Round 4, Pick 124
Jacob Parrish, CB, Kansas State
Why: A feisty nickel corner with impressive speed (4.35 40-yard dash). Parrish brings competitiveness and depth to the secondary, particularly in slot coverage
Round 5, Pick 160
T.J. Sanders, DT, South Carolina
Why: An interior pass rusher with notable production (11.5 sacks in 2024). Sanders offers rotational depth and potential as a disruptive force on the defensive line.
Round 6, Pick 205 (LOL REALLYYYYY CHATGPT?!)
Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State
Why: A tall (6'4") receiver with strong hands and contested catch ability. Higgins provides a red-zone target and depth to the receiving corps.
Round 7, Pick 239
Ryan Rehkow, P, BYU
Why: A punter with a powerful leg and excellent hang time. Rehkow can compete for the starting role and improve field position battles.

Sorry if the title is a bit misleading. This is more of a focus on which players have the most favorable pre-draft backgrounds to becoming great players than us drafting a ton of DTs.As it relates to the Bills roster construction, in 2024 and 2023 they had 6 DTs play at least 7 games each year. In 2022, that was only 4.
Imo, the only DTs guaranteed a spot are Ed and Carter. Ogunjobi and especially Jones have money tied up in them but are cutable if needed. So Id say they can draft and retain 2 DTs pretty easily especially if they keep 5 on the roster.
3 hours ago, Ed_Formerly_of_Roch said:Exactly, I see posts like this all the time, the Bills should draft/sign draft several (fill in the position blank) There has to be an actual roster spot open for that player. It's different too if a team is rebuilding, having 2 or 3 rookies in a position group is OK as in a couple years maybe half of them turn out to be good. But for a team in a win now mode , that likely doesn't improve the roster for 2025.
Also add to that rookies take extra effort to develop. In todays NFL there's very limited practice time allowed and teams can't just saw, we'll spend an extra couple practice hours with the rookie as it's not allowed. It's the same reason why very few backup QB's hold for kicks these days as don't want to take away his limited time to work with the QB's. For similar reasons, when companies hire apprentices, unless it's a very large company, they usually only hire one until that person is trained. Same here, teams are better off drafting one and maybe a 2nd with a very low pick that you can be placed on PS and not likely to be poached by another team.
Agree too unless they are ready to give up on Carter, not bringing in another 3T. Just yesterday read an article too that commented that one game Carter played as the 1T and did OK so the team may view him as a potential backup in both positions. Not likely to give up on a fairly high draft pick after only one season either.
Exactly one of the reasons I prefer we trade up to get the right guy. I get the whole 'the more lotto tickets you have" thing, but we g2 get this right. Cutting Objo would be brutal. I hate the idea of giving up on a 3rd rd'er just last year, who had a pretty major injury. If they really dont believe in him I get it, and can accept it, but doesnt seem like a Bills move with this FO.

Impressive research! I have to wonder if the Bills scouting department looks into things this analytically. Or do they just go with gut feelings.
I cant imagine they dont. OP crushed it, but id be disappointed if this wasnt just a surface level of what they do.
Totally following criteria for a stat like this is optional? I cant imagine just having these kind of analytics being optional though. This kinda thing probably helps them separate between similarly ranked players on their board

I went through all DTs selected to the All-pro team and/or Pro Bowl from 2013-2025 to see if I could find any similarities in their background pre-draft.
In that timeframe 37 different players were selected. Of that group 25 (67%) of the individuals selected met one of the two following criteria. However, since many of the players were nominated multiple times, those who hit this criteria made up over 82% of the total selections.
Production: At least 5 sacks recorded in a single college season by their true Junior year AND a RAS greater than 7
Speed: A Sub 5.0 40 and/or a sub 1.7 10 yard split while weighing more than 295 pounds
So who meets these criteria in this draft class?
Production:
Josh Farmer, Florida State
CJ West, Indiana
Walter Nolen, Ole Miss*
Tyleik Williams, Ohio State*
Speed:
Derrick Harmon, Oregon
Darius Alexander, Toldeo
TJ Sanders, South Carolina
CJ West, Indiana
Commentary:
The most important factor in success is obviously draft capital. So in this class and past draft classes, I focused on those drafted by the end of day 2.
First, what a DT class this is! The previous record for DTs who met one of these criteria was 5 players each in 2019 and 2018 (8 of those 10 are making over 10 million per year on their current contracts).
Now there are obviously players who succeed that didn’t meet those criteria so scouting is still needed. But for your best shot at finding a star, this is the group to focus on in my opinion.
* = no RAS
^ = small school prospect
Great work! Data analyst? Or just exceptionally passionate lol?

I've said it numerous times on this forum:
I believe that Mike McDaniel is a sharp offensive mind and probably can have a long career in this league as an offensive coordinator.
I do not believe he is a leader of men or is head coach material.
His schtick was fun and funny when the Dolphins were winning, but as things have slowly and consistently gone south, his charm has begun to wear off with players and fans, and I don't think he's long for the job. I think he's the offensive whiz kid version of Rex Ryan.
In my own mind, I operate on the assumption that Mike McDaniel will not be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins beyond 2025 or, at the latest, 2026.I dont expect this to be well received on an old-man message board ("he wears a cap at the dinner table!"), but if we are looking for a new OC after this season I'm 100% interested. Put his mind to work and the rest of the staff can handle the major leadership skills. Grier has certainly not helped McDaniel out with team personnel. "Hey this dudes struggling to manage Tyreek Hills attitude, lets trade major assets, to bring in Ramsey and immediately get him an extension".
I dont know how well even McDermott would handle Tyreek and Ramsey together
Thats like saying "wow, this dudes a real alcoholic who cant handle his liquor.... let's get him some cocaine to help pep him up a little bit!"

1. Brandon Beane leaves a critical position undermanned, telegraphing to every other team in the league that we want to draft a player at that position with our first or second round pick and forcing our hand in doing so even if the true Best Player Available plays a different position.
2. Stop me if you've heard this one before: Having only Dane Jackson penciled in as one of your starting outside corners and thus being forced to draft a cornerback late in the first even though there are better players on the board.
Two different ways of describing the same problem, I suppose. Good thing there's no precedent for this issue, and that history never repeats...
I don't even disagree with your premise.... but being scared of Dane Jackson starting, to the point of passing over BPA and reaching on CB is just not happening if I'm GM. Dude is an average #2 who knows the defense and played it well enough. If you want to replace him that desperately youre better of trading up to go get the guy. Either let the board come to you when it does with any one of our 10 picks, make a draft weekend trade for a Vet, or go up and get the guy you covet in a range you're willing to pay. Positionally, I don't think I have one at any one position. 1st Rd Tackle if BPA fell that way might sting a little because I love DDawk, but I'd understand the BPA move with the thought of getting cheaper down the line and grooming a guy ahead of time + nice depth. Between being a mostly solid team and picking at #30, if you stand pat I can justify BPA (outside of QB obv) at any position.
Obv 3 DT's 1,2,3 is nuts lol

With the 4th pick in the NFL Draft the New England Patriots select:
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise St.
I normally dislike taking a RB this high. But as pointed out in mock draft 1.0 there are 3 blue chip players in this draft. Hunter and Carter are gone so we will snag the third one.
While we do have Rhamondre Stevenson, he was benched several times last year for fumble issues. He coughed up the ball 7 times last year. We can't have that.
Jeanty is an elite runner who can split wide and is a dynamic playmaker. Our new coach is very used to having a dominant run game and this will help take some of the pressure off Maye in year two. Both by improving the run game and providing him with a playmaking target in the pass game.

Anybody smarter than me know whats up with his work in receiving game? Looks like he had a stellar 2nd year catching the rock.... but reverted back to the mean this last season?
Different coach or scheme this year? Did he show bad hands and they moved away from it? He had good hands, but they ran him into the ground so much rushing that they let another RB spell him on "3rd and Pass"?
