The game has evolved, and continues to be, an offensive game. However, it seems that teams have started to counter this with both scheme (2 high safeties, etc) and personnel.

There are hosts of other teams with dynamic pass rushers, good defenses and parity seems to be at an all-time high.

Even some of the best offenses of years past aren’t nearly as dangerous or unstoppable as they seemed to have been previously.

I personally think it’s great for the game, but why? Have defenses started to catch up? Is this just an illusion to me? Or are we starting to see a transition back towards prioritizing pieces of the defensive side of the ball?

Ive been saying this all offseason but there has been such a focus on passing the ball. OL starting in college are taking more passblock snaps then ever. More Receivers then ever are being drafted in the first 2 days of drafts. Linebackers HAVE BEEN GETTING SMALLER EVERY YEAR. They also are being brought up to speed in college with a role tilting towards DB over run defending.

We started to see NE, Indy, Mia, SF, Cleveland (TN has done this all along) committing to the run like nobody has in recent years. Why? These teams havent had better than middling at best QB play, why throw a 50xs a game with a bad QB.... so they went anti-trend.  The top defenses are built to stop the pass. All these teams had flashes of success doing it, and a lot of these teams were the outlier that other teams didnt want to run into in the playoffs.

The US military would run over a country like France, theyre not built for that kinda war...... ISIS sure as hell given us some fits though.  Did the VietCong strafe and bomb the chit outta us using their AirForce/Aircraft Carriers? Or did they find a way to drag us into territory we're uncomfortable/not built for and use guerilla tactics like bottlenecking, traps, and ambushes?

......... what im getting at here....... is Mia is ISIS, and NE is the VC? Maybe I have this backwards......

I think Daboll has always been a blowhard. Not a terrible dude, but he cannot be "the guy" at the top or in total control of one side of the ball. He needs a few degrees of separation to provide a buffer. He needs to be part of an ensemble, he can't be the star or the conductor.

Has any coaching tree ever put out more huff n puff 'my way/highway' coaches ever? I kinda dont even blame them. saw dynasty in their coaching formulative years, Beli was looked at like the Emperor in Imperial Japan. McDaniels, Bob/Bill guy from Houston who i forget, Matt Patricia, Vrabel has some tendencies but never coached under him... theyre all the same guy'ish

I am still salty that we lost a home game and instead have to play a division winner in a different country, where they are the home away from home team, and who already have a week to prepare from the jet lag

Wait this was a "home game". Does this mean this year's 7 home games or 8? This s*** is ridiculous, I hope Goodell icarus-es

👍🏻 worthy bump.  Our pass protection has been the key to us being more consistent on O.

I focus on him from time to time and haven’t seen a bad rep yet.

Top 10 OL with 2 brand new starters, and essentially a brand new right side with Brown. How freaking huge. Not only do we have a power run game, but PFF (I KNOW I KNOW) has us the #1 rated pass blocking team. While I take that with huge grain of salt, josh doesn't require a #1 pass block so we're already in the gravy.

13games left to gel before the real test!

Another possibility with Brown if he just doesn't become a satisfactory NFL RT and need to upgrade the position, you can probably turn him into Lee Smith.

Or backwards Jason peters! Lol how are his hands 🤣🤣

    That is a good point.

I believe Sunday's game vs Jacksonville will be a good test to see if Josh can refrain from dropping back into "hero ball" Josh.

Jacksonville always gives us a difficult challenge.  With the travel to London and the fatigue that goes along with crossing several time zones, Josh could slip back into some less desireable habits.

It will be interesting to see if the turnovers go up this week.

    Go Bills!!!

Anybody know when we leave? Certainly hope its sooner rather than later!

He is on his 5th year next year.  A re-signing even with top money lowers his immediate hit.

I think Waddle will be gone and not get a second contract

    Wilkins will walk

Williams NEEDS to be re-signed he handles the protections not Tua

Waddle I have a big feeling doesnt see a second contract either

Why do you think that on Waddle? Just wont be able to afford him? If thats the case destined to go to a bad team with tons of free cap on a big deal, but dang, if he wants to contend id be hella interested!

Who do we want to win this? What’s the best fir the bills?

Jets but ppl might not like my - why

We control our destiny over NYJ more then KC.... buttttttt. I hope Jets emerge as a top team.

Id rather have iron sharpen iron in the division as much as possible to prep us for playoffs

Tired of walking through saesons 90% unchallenged and folding in playoffs, and im not normally this harsh

We look like the top team for real, go be that team all year. theres no "peaking too early". thats called regressing

Plus, maybe LaPorta is good.  Good for him!  Doesn't mean our guy is bad or a disappointment.  He is neither!

No way dude. 4 games and season 1 tells us all we need to know about a player. Remember how much Baker outplayed Josh first quarter of his rookie year, and over the year in general?

Well that guy just dumped 9 points on the 2010 NFL Super Bowl Champs today! Still think this is a joke now?!?

I mean, the Bears don't want him.

    The Bears.

Normally im behind you on this but low gamble, high upside. Unless Beane has a bigger prize in mind id be very interested. His QB is Justin freaking Fields, would be pretty easy to see why he could get disinterested. Physical freak, hugeeee frame is exactly the reclamation project you take a swing on, we dont currently have anyone who fits his dynamic. 6'4" (5"?) with Josh's arm. Go from Fields to Josh, you could easily get 6mos hardwork outta the guy, and with his frame that could be enough to contribute. RZ Package!

He's physically talented.  We play a zone most of the time and if you don't know where you are supposed to be and can't stop grabbing guys it doesn't matter what your 40 time is.  Hopefully the time he's had watching he's been learning also.

I'd actually be interested to see if throwing him out there he could play through some of the mistakes and learn on the field but when you have a really good team you don't usually get those opportunities.

I think this is where the big intrigue is at. Trial by fire can be great for guys, hopefully they mix him in to get some of that through out the year bc he just moved up and is going to see playing time if Tre thing is confirmed

God dang, i wish theyd just overturned that 4th & 1 for a first now. Hate playing that game mentally

Damn I had Duke ML when they went down 14 7

Good call. Canelo dominated,  I was surprised it was that easy. Also surprised he didn't get another ko

Yeah pretty easy call on canelo for me. He'll be good for a few more win by decisions in his career,  but if he's not stopping a guy who went up 2 weight classes, and the last 3 fights before, I don't think he's KO'ing anyone again. Dude loves the sport though!

If that doesn't create a Lombardi, Dorsey must go and Pegula should start digging a well for OC salary. Go proven because you must pull a Lombardi outta a trade like that, With this roster

See, im a genius, shoulda done it lol

Let’s see rookie year he wasn’t meh, last year with dumb and dumber he regressed a lot as did the entire O. This year so far he been a top 10 passer with no O line in front of him, (which shows stats don’t tell everything. Be interesting to see what he be like with a true #1 WR. After all There is not even one great QB in this league who doesn’t at least have 1 great WR with him.

Bills fan, coming in peace...... this is new to you, so let a Bills fan who's not, help you out here. I know you BELIEVE this, hell..... i still think Trent Edwards woulda been the answer if Adrian Wilson hadnt scrambled his brains lol but i promise you, youll be better off the sooner you admit to yourself that when you see a QB of the future: A. You will know, no second guessing and B. It won't matter if your #1/#2 is Kelvin Benjamin/Zay Jones lol again you'll be able to tell without a bringing in a Titanic WR

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Trent Edwards, Rob Johnson, Kelly Holcomb, Alex Van Pelt, oh JP Losman.... we've been there, and like a battered who wife WHO REALLY BELIEVES HIM THIS TIME, Mac will have you wearing another shiner (or maybe just some swollen testicles) next week/month/year.

Agreed on Canelo. He's an animal. Charlo is no joke though. He'll be Canelos toughest fight since Floyd imo.. I really can't call that fight yet. I'm just happy It's happening..

I always wait til the day of the fight to bet, I like seeing how they look cutting weight and the body language.  I'm actually slightly leaning towards Charlo

I'm a huge UFC fan too. Their next ppv is awesome.

Ya i had a good Sunday.  I laid off the Mon games, almost bet Philly but wasn't confident enough.

That's a great review of the Canelo fight. Is that 2 KOs total? Or just for Canelo? I like that bet..GL brother

Yeah 2 total at +700 is nice.  Realistically Charlo going down twice is the angle here. Canelo is an absolute beast, but looks like age has started to effect him heavily in the fights since Bivol... i cant really lay much blame on not KO'ing GGG, that just doesnt happen, but he didnt look his usual self that fight. But 2years ago theres no way Ryder makes it outta the 5th or 6th, looks like he hit a wall.

His last KO victory was against Caleb Plant late 2021. Hes kind of at the Jerry Rice on the Raiders point of his career. Huge name, tons of respect from opponents, but his body starting to betray him a bit... muscle memory and being a technician are carrying him, with that top notch explosion having left.

On the UFC side should be a fun october.  293 is in Saudia Arabia: Oliviera vs islam makachev (sp?) Re-match!  Then a polarizing fight between 2 absolute menaces lol Paulo Costa vs Chimaev haha both those guys have huge mouths, should be fun week for soundbites leading in lol
