  1. Interesting link. Thanks. You will notice two things: 1. Yes, we are amongst the lowest tier tariff countries. 2. The higher tier tariff countries are not exactly something to emulate.
  2. Ugh. I'm not sure whether Trump believes his own bs (it's certainly more disturbing if he does). But what bothers me is that a lot of uninformed people believe this, that tariffs are a no-cost way of raising federal revenues.
  3. Elon Musk is obviously a polarizing figure. Which makes it weird (that word again) that I'm kind of an Elon agnostic. Overall, he's been a critical and important figure in pushing technology forward. That has been good for the world and good for America. But being a brilliant innovator (and salesman - the cult of Elon is not unlike the Cult of Steve Jobs) doesn't necessarily mean your political philosophy is correct or even coherent. There's this Silicon Valley oriented politics that is really a modern-day version of Plato - the idea that the country should really be run by a wise intellectual ruler or rulers, who just happen to be Peter Thiel an Elon Musk and people just like them. It's fundamentally anti-democratic. There's an argument that we have too much democracy and that they have a point, but we really ought to be having a discussion about that. Instead we have the smart guys propping up a kind of dumb guy who they believe they can manipulate into furthering their agenda.
  4. Kyle Smith is correct here. I fully expected Biden to get a real primary opponent or two. And the Dems would be in a better position now if that had happened.
  5. Are they still waiting to substitute Michelle Obama in?
  6. "Cottage Grove, WI." Never heard of it. So I looked at the map. Suburb of Madison, the most liberal/progressive area of Wisconsin. Did it occur to you that maybe this is what they want their schools to do? That this is actually in place because the voters of Cottage Grove want it to be in place? Local control. Sometimes what Madison likes isn't what the Southern Tier of NYS likes. Shocking, isn't it?
  7. There is nothing incorrect in this story. It is objective. But it is still silly because it insists on going meta. Kamala's momentum has stalled. The race is now a statistical tie, with the electoral college favoring Trump. We could write that story (the NYT did), and we could cite the NYT story here. But let's quote some guy named "Matt Margolis" pushing out silly content trying to frame it as "NYT upset that Kamala is no longer ahead." It adds nothing. It simply demonstrates how addicted certain people are to the trash alt media spin on every objective fact.
  8. The root of the problem (here in Europe, but no doubt just as big a problem in America). I could have also posted this in that Problem With Boys thread.
  9. We can argue all day and night about whether Biden is mentally fit. Can we agree that Olivia Nuzzi is physically fit?
  10. I think Bezos would have beaten him but for an ill-timed divorce ...
  11. We should definitely wait 25 years before any invention is cleared for use.
  12. The old days of the combined punter/kickoff specialist?
  13. There is zero incentive not to kick it through the end zone. Which puts a premium on guys who can kick it through the end zone nearly every time. Which apparently we don't have.
  14. COVID + regular flu vax. Then went on a 20 mile bike ride. Feel great. Not scared of needles. Not a wuss.
  15. Big tough hard-nosed "scientist" NCBills afraid that Bill Gates is altering his DNA. And he wonders why his career stalled out.
  16. Funny you should mention that. I just altered my DNA again thought the newest Moderna vaccine. My DNA is now better, stronger, faster than yours.
  17. Demanding the one's name be taken OFF a ballot is kind of a different thing than arguing for ballot access, no? I mean, ballot access is critical if the people are going to be given the opportunity to vote for a candidate who has met a minimum threshold for ballot eligibility. In many states it's unclear if write-ins are allowed, and if so, how clear and obvious the write-in name needs to be in order to be counted. This is therefore a serious issue, maybe even of constitutional dimension. On the other hand, demanding that (once qualified for the ballot) the state take unusual steps to take you off that ballot is silly. Just tell your supporters to tick a different box, or no box at all! Unless you assume they are idiots, there is simply no problem.
  18. Thank you for reminding us that this fat ***** is still on the lam somewhere.
  19. Penzey's. Big time Wisconsin Democrat's company. I do like their spices. Seems more comfortable than JD Vance ogling a donut's hole.
  20. Leon to the rescue!
  21. "I alone can fix it" Or if I can't, First Son-in-Law certainly can. https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/02/11/trump-middle-east-peace-plan-isnt-new-israeli-palestinian-drobles/
  22. See what I mean? You simply can't admit that you confused Prediction Markets with Projection Models. But then I guess Pops never admits that he found his missing glasses on the top of his head.
