  1. With the huge numbers of early voters I can’t imagine any campaign events will have any impact at all. I mean, Kamala could give an actual bj on stage and it wouldn’t change anything. Or in light of what we just saw, Trump could give one.
  2. Exactly. Trump may be in NC because his campaign believes WI is sewn up for him. Or whatever. None of this means much.
  3. Right. Both are weak and embarrassing. Vote for RFK. He’s strong and proud.
  4. You could always do the Trump. “I’m for tightening up the law, but this one goes just a teensy bit too far so I’m voting against it even though I’m for it in principle.”
  5. That’s it. I’m changing my screen name.
  6. You do realize that these are the ultra-orthodox/hasidic communities in Rockland County that are some of the biggest welfare takers in America? The same communities that segregate men and women on buses and even tried to require them to walk on opposite sides of the sidewalk? The same communities that basically try to impose an ultra-orthodox version of sharia law on all who live in "their" communities? I'm not sure I'd be touting their endorsement as a good thing to get ...
  7. Here's your deflation, buddy. https://gasprices.aaa.com/ $3.10 nationally. Down from $4.33 in May 2022. Almost a 30% decline. But whine away.
  8. In other words: no law broken. Trump called them on the Kamala/SNL bit, they gave him his 90 seconds, nobody cares. Maybe the FCC commissioner should read his own damn regs.
  9. He was the first one to post here during a game if I remember correctly.
  10. Wonderful decisionmaking by Team Trump. Send the 79 year old man suffering from dementia to three states in one day so he can say "hello, Pennsylvania" in NC and talk about their wonderful Senate candidate Dave McCormick. https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/trump-appears-to-forget-he-is-in-north-carolina/2024/11/03/f31d3a55-0dbb-4410-bc7f-0719bd8802e9_video.html Oh, and watch people walk out.
  11. This would have been her best response to "what would you have done differently as opposed to Joe?"
  12. Posted 40 minutes ago ... about a game that ended almost 4 hours ago!
  13. You mean that both Trump and Vance are in NC, which ought to be one of their safe states?
  14. EDIT: oh, and I also imagine (my imagination is boundless!) that the current Supreme Court would likely find the FCC equal time rule unconstitutional. Yep. Check my link above. Trump's primary 2016 opponents were upset that he was allowed to host SNL without a similar offer to them. Tonight's host, Senator Ted Cruz! That would've been a ratings winner.
  15. I have no clue either. A goofy 90 second spot on a show whose audience (particularly with Chappell Roan, who is apparently an LGBTQ icon) skews left anyway. "Propriety?" I think it is probably something that violates the "spirit" of the rule, but not the plain language of the rule and its exceptions. So what?
  16. To the OP: Do not bring that football garbage here. This is a political forum
  17. I am not an SNL producer. I imagine Lorne Michaels changed his mind, probably hoping to give Kamala a little "humanizing" boost. I imagine he suggested this to the NBC poohbahs, who then ran it by the lawyers. I imagine the lawyers advised that it was o.k. if it didn't involve an attack on Trump and if they also did the disclosure and waited to see if other candidates demand equal time. I imagine that they ran the segment. My thoughts, since you seem so interested in them.
  18. As you guys are so fond of arguing: turnabout is fair play. https://money.cnn.com/2015/10/14/media/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-saturday-night-live-equal-time/index.html It's an FCC (not FEC) rule; my bad. And, as usual, there are lots of interpretations and exceptions to the so-called "equal time" rule. And there's a lot we don't know. Did they offer Trump and Jill Stein and whoever a chance to appear on NBC late night? Have those other candidates demanded it? If they don't demand it, then there's no violation. If they do, well, then maybe NBC will give Trump a free 90 second ad on Monday night. Who knows. At any rate, I see zero basis for suggesting it's a criminal violation, unlike Musk's situation where it may very well be one. So as far a slowing down a touch? Please take your own advice.
  19. What's stupid about my comment? You guys are saying Kamala's appearance was a joke, a failure. So what are you so worried about? I have no idea what the FEC says about having a candidate on a comedy show. Perhaps you'd like to actually look up the law before saying it was illegal. NBC/Comcast has attorneys - good ones! expensive ones! - who apparently cleared it. Again ... show me the law that says it is. Now you've moved from "a violation of FEC rules" to "a crime" without so much as a cite.
  20. With respect to health, the latter half of the 20th century was distinguished by one big thing: incredible success against infectious disease thanks to vaccines. Smallpox, polio, measles, tetanus, even chickenpox (as someone who had shingles much later in life, this one is particularly personal to me ... the youngest generation will never have to worry about that). And we're going to undo that? Based on junk science? Fluoride: I kind of agree. With fluoridated toothpastes, etc., I'm not sure this one is as important as it used to be. But in terms of tremendously reducing the cost (and pain) of dental work, particularly on children, any cost-benefit analysis would have to be positive. There's a study out there that shows that fluoride level double what the government recommends may be associated with lower IQ, but again: double ... may. We know for a fact that teeth are healthier than ever and the fluoridated water played a big part. I simply cannot understand where this nonsense comes from. It predated COVID, so don't give me that.
  21. Ooh, Trumpies are worked up about Kamala doing a dumb skit! Someone's getting a little worried out there ... Actually, the earlier part of the skit was kind of good. The "say their names" or "remember their names" thing.
  22. Donald has given us a new euphemism for *****. "Eating the Corndog."
  23. Jesus sent him to save America.
